Chapter Seventy Two

Henry.

I stood there frozen as I watched their car ride out of the courthouse, I could not see anything other than the car and hear nothing other than what Gwen said.

It was partially true and partially false that I tried to hit her, I didn’t mean to do that. I was drunk for crying out loud, I did not know what I was doing when I almost hit her that night.

She was annoying as usual asking me questions I did not have an answer to, and I didn’t know when I brought my hand up to hit her but quickly I was able to get myself.

I wasn’t raised to hit women; my mother made sure of that.

“What was that about?” Sheila asked, walking toward me.

“None of your business,” I snapped at her.

She looked shocked but quickly got her bearing, her face hardened as she let out a scoff.
