CHAPTER 150

Sophia’s POV

The night was still, but my mind was anything but. I lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts racing in circles.

The image of Elijah lying in the hospital haunted me, the fear of what I might find if I visited him eating at me. What if I walked in on him and Julia acting like a couple? The mere thought twisted my stomach into knots.

But then, a voice in my mind scoffed, So what? You don't love him anymore, do you?

I slipped out of bed and went to check on Reese. She was already fast asleep, her small body curled up under the blankets. I gently brushed a strand of hair from her face, trying to find some peace in her innocence.

When I came out of her bedroom, a knock interrupted my thoughts. I narrowed my eyes, wondering who it could be at this hour. I made my way to the door and through the peephole, I saw Adrian standing in the hallway.
