Chapter Sixty-nine

I was in bed when the vibrations of my phone woke me up. I left all the responsibilities I had and stayed indoors for two days. The outside world did not feel welcoming to me. Staying indoors also helped me to mentally reenact what had happened between Annabelle and me.

My head was pressed into my pillow as I stretched my left hand to the side table, tapping my hands on each part of the table to find my phone. I finally got to it and held it in my hand for a while hoping it would stop. It didn't so I had no choice but to raise my head and look at who was calling.

“Alex,” the phone call ID, read.

I picked up the call and in his regular low tone, he said. “I think we've found a lead on who was behind the destruction of your company.”

My sleepy eyes opened up! I sat up. “I'm all ears. What's the lead?”

“I can't tell you that over the phone but we caught an intel in your company that was responsible for giving them the access they had.”
