Story begins.

Adele

Gently. I breathed in and out, flexing my muscles the way athletes do on TV. I was standing right in front of the Peterson's mansion, getting ready to go in and get my interview done.I wasn't really dressed for the interview, only if a pair of grey jogger's and black sweat shirt could count as one dressing extravagantly, whatever.

But the truth was that I hardly wear and I don't even own any of those corporate official wears. Plus I didn't count the interview as official. Number one; The interview is being done in Mr Peterson's home not in his office. Number two; It is the post of a Nanny I'm applying for not a personal secretary, receptionist or anything else.

The last thing I want to do right now is to look stupid by wearing those tight fitted skirts for the sake of dressing corporate. I hate office works and those shenanigans relating to office works. Though I studied economics at the university thanks to my fathers, but office works weren't just my thing. It's weird but I prefer changing the diaper of a baby and  staring at those cute chubby faces of babies than staying all day in an office working my ass out, those ass that haven't for once stopped growing bigger.

I nodded my head at the guards as I stepped in.

"Heaven on earth." I muttered to myself as I looked around the magnificent mansion. I kept doing the sign of the cross, praying quietly I get the job.

"I promise to wipe your baby's ass clean if I get the job, Mr Peterson." I muttered to myself.

A young man was standing right at the entrance of the door leading to the inner part of the mansion, he ushered me ahead of him into the entry hall. I immediately fixed my beanie and glasses before I proceeded inside. Hopefully I will get the job.

A tall man with obviously long legs was draped over a long brown plush sofa, he looked tired. My gaze swept over the well furnished sitting room. Burgundy brocades draped the windows and the walls. At my feet, a late afternoon sun dappled the soft rug. I breathed in, basking in the heavenly smell of rose fragrance.

I turned towards the young man behind me.

"Thanks cutie." I said, even though the young man was far away from cute. I raised my eyebrows in question as a blush crept up to his face.

"Hope I'm not too late?" I said loudly, with the intention of snapping the tall man out ofhis thoughts.

And of course i did as he looked up immediately and our eyes met. I stared at him, transfixed by his eyes. A dark brown eyes that reminded me of muddy water. They contrasted perfectly with his black hair and well trimmed side burns. His hair was meticulously cut and combed, it fitted him perfectly and heightened his masculine features. He must have been working out a lot.

His eyes raked over my body, I think I caught a smirk but it disappeared as soon as it appeared. His mouth tightened in an hard form as our gazes locked.

"Kingsley Okorie Peterson." He pronounced audibly, I clenched my legs together in haste at the sound of his voice.

"Huh ?" I asked in confusion. He raised an eyebrow mockingly, crossing his legs.

"I just introduced myself, care to tell me yours." He asked smoothly without stammering, I couldn't help but wonder if I could get a word out of my mouth without stammering.

"Oh." I said, instead. I replayed what he said in my mind as I stared at him unashamedly. Then it dawned on me, I was meant to tell him my name too.

"Can you be less stupid Adele?" I muttered to myself, staring at my feet and hoping he didn't hear me.

I looked up to find an amused look on his face, was he enjoying this.

I cleared my throat before speaking.

"I'm Adele, Adele Teju Cole." I said, biting my lips afterwards.

"Hmm... That's a lovely, can you please come closer and have your sit." He replied, pointing to the single plush sofa on his left side.

"Thanks," I said, forcing a smile. A smile that hurts my cheeks badly. I just hope I wasn't looking stupid with the smile. Now that I was closer to him I detected a delicious male fragrance, was it after shave or Cologne.  On a normal situation I hated Cologne on men, but this time around, it's a miracle I haven't swooned yet.

My legs were already getting numb due to the fact that I've been sitting in the same position for the past eight hours. Getting a Nanny for my nine months old daughter Colleen seems harder than I thought. I took a deep breath as I looked through the list I already compiled, none of them fits in, what does a bartender know about taking care of a Kid? All these actually sucks. Like really sucks.

Only if Laju was still alive to take care of our kid, only if she had accepted to take the treatment earlier, maybe she would have survived and Colleen won't be motherless right now.

"Hope, I'm not too late? " a soft voice called out, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I immediately looked up, my gaze met with a weirdly dressed lady. Who dresses like this to an interview? Like seriously? A red beanie, dorky glasses, a pair of grey joggers and a sweat shirt with the inscriptions pink nipples.

I smirked, forcing the urge to chuckle loudly, i immediately cautioned myself clearing of the smirk before it is noticed.

I was tempted to ask if her nipples were really pink, but I'm not that stupid.

I cleared my throat as I tried to decipher what are face really looked like without the beanie and glasses, but those things weren't helping at all.

I was amused with the way she was acting oblivious when I told her my name.

I began interviewing her shortly, and I was totally relieved when I realized she had full experience when it comes to taking care of a child, I was shocked when I found out she was an economist.

"Well, Miss Cole. You are the most qualified for the job, your babysitting experience should do for now. Congratulations, you can resume duty as soon as possible. Friday will be much better, I Will send the contract to your email and of course my mother will be here to brief you on some things concerning my little Colleen." I said finally, extending an handshake.

"Thank you so much, Mr Peterson. Colleen that's a beautiful name." She replied, with her face lit up with a different smile. I could tell this smile was different from the previous smiles she had on her face.

"Oh yeah! We named her after her mother's favourite author, Colleen hoover. We are born Cohorts." I said, watching her face lit up.

"Oh my goodness, I'm a cohort too... Tell me which is your favourite ? Mine is November 9"

"Verity." I replied.

"Oh! That book got so much emotions out of me." She said softly.
