Chapter Two

In contrast to the exuberance of Mr Okorie Peterson, there was a reserve in the old Mrs Peterson that brought a sudden shyness in me. I ducked my head shyly but the lady reached out and lifted my chin, looking down with the sweetest smile I have ever seen. When I arrived the mansion with my luggages I was very nervous, but the Lady's smile was like a nerve relieve pill.

"Aww. My son got my pretty grand daughter a pretty nanny. Welcome young lady." Mrs Peterson said.

"Let me show you to your room."

Different thoughts kept running through my mind as I was being urshered down the hall and into a large purple room that was to be mine.

"Colleen's room is right beside yours, it would make things much easier for you." she said pointing to the room next to mine.

The room that was to be mine looked nothing but grandeur and beautiful, gorgeous works of art in huge massive frames, filled the walls of the room. The room was more than what I was expecting, through the high window I could see the swimming pool. After having my fill of the room, I was urshered down to the room next to mine.

The smell of floral lingered to my nose as I stepped into the room, old Mrs Peterson immediately went to the baby cot that was placed right at the center of the room. The room looked like that of a royal princess, it has a touch of blush pink, exactly like a mini castle.

I walked towards old Mrs Peterson who was holding a little child who I guess should be Colleen, the baby of the house.

My heart leapt up in my chest as I caught sight of her,  she was so cute,  her rosy chubby cheeks begged to be pinched, her eyes were brown, a muddy kind of brown.

She looks just like a doll.

I thought wistfully, that's one of the words that could describe her. Her skin was the colour of caramel, wispy black curls covered her head and her high cheekbones were pure perfection.

"Say Hi to Nanny Adele, Colleen." Old Mrs Peterson drawled out.

Little Colleen raised up her head to probably have a look at me for a seconds, before burying her head in the crook of her granny's neck, loud fits of giggles escaped from her mouth. I smiled at her cuteness.

"Hello Princess," I cooed softly as I stepped closer to Old Mrs Peterson. Colleen raised up her head shyly and gave a toothless smile.

"She's so cute," I cooed softly, moving closer to pinch her cheeks.

"She definitely is." Mrs Peterson responded.  "We all thought things were going to be unfair to her when her mother died, but it didn't. Instead things are turning around well for her. I'm not scared of death any longer, at least I can die in peace knowing my grand daughter is in good hands." she added with a smile on her face.

"Seems like you ladies are having a good time without me in the picture," a deep masculine said.

I cleared my throat quietly, taking off my gaze from Colleen whose face was already lit up at the sight of her father.

"Dadadada..... " she gurgled, I watched the way Mr Okorie Peterson's lips widened into a huge smile. I watched the way he took his daughter from his mother's arm. Throwing her up in the air and catching her back. The little girl kept giggling uncontrollably, seems like she was used to this and obviously likes it.

"Miss Adele, you have met the two ladies in my life. The two most important people in my life." He said, looking directly at me.

"That might be changing soon," Old Mrs Peterson muttered under her breath.

"Mother!" Mr Peterson exclaimed.  I raised up my left hand to cover my mouth in hope to stiffle the laughter that threatened to spill out.

"What?  I'm just stating the obvious truth." She replied, rolling her eyes.

"Come on Adele, let me take you through the things you need to know." She gestured to me as she grabbed a bag that obviously looked like a diaper bag. It's kind of funny to see someone who grew up with guns and knives changing diapers and singing nursery rhymes, but I hope I will adapt to this changes.

Today was kind of hectic, the realization that I will be spending a greater part of my life in the Peterson's mansion should scare me, but instead I feel relieved. Signing a ten year contract seems like one of the best things I've ever done. My family will never find me here, The old life I left behind won't resurface. I know it will be hard to sleep, I was ready to let sleep go since this is my first night in the mansion.

It seemed no sooner had my head hit my pillow and my eyes closed,  I was suddenly yanked awake by what sounded like a rush of water just outside my window. I bolted upright, my heart beat like the wings of a bird. I immediately got up from my bed, I flinched as my bare feet collided with the cold marble floor, I slipped my feet into my flip flops as I walked to the window.

The moon was full and bright, I could see the glistening water of the pool, there was a strange movement. Someone was in the pool,  the person swam to the surface, directly to the part where the moon shined more brightly. A low gasp escaped my lips as I caught sight of the person who was completely naked as the day he was born, my eyes widened has the person dipped his head into the water and resurfaced fully,  the recognition hit me like  a full blow on the head,  Mr Peterson.
