"But I no longer love you."

His eyelashes trembled, as if he hadn't heard anything.

He stood there, silently looking at me.

"Hailey, you've loved me for 12 years."

I smiled sarcastically. "So what?"

Chris's voice also became unsteady. "Hailey, please, don't leave me. Let's forget the bad things and start over, okay?"

I looked into his eyes.

"You've already made me reliant on a hearing aid. Are you trying to take my life?"

A flash of panic crossed Chris's eyes.

He trembled as he crouched down, holding my hand.

"Hailey, what do you mean?"

I pulled my hand away forcefully and took out a tissue to wipe it.

Ignoring his pale face, I said nonchalantly, "I really never want to see you again."

I looked up at the sky.

"I want to go find my mother. She is the only one who truly loves me."
