Chapter 45 –  Ready, But Not Ready

(Lexi’s POV)

8:15 p.m.

It was the exact time on my cell phone screen when it chimed in a message from Lexa, the same time Frank walked me to the doorway. I had succeeded in swallowing the hearty meal we had for dinner despite the constant glancing of the staff at me. I wanted to scream at them, wishing to tell them it was unethical, but how could I stop them when even I found it funny and annoying because it was like experiencing déjà vu, only I had a different date this time.

“We survived the night,” Frank chuckled as we stopped in front of the door. “Whew! I thought we would be spending the night talking about work.”

“I’m glad we didn’t,” I grinned, nodding in agreement. “I had fun, Frank.”

“Me, too,” he said as he gazed at my face like he had plans of melting me.

My heart hammered in my chest, creating a deafening sound, scared that he would kiss me again as he did in the elevator. I breathed out, unsure what to do if he brushed those soft lips again with mine. I wanted to kiss him
