I stared at the screen hesitantly. If Mark was calling now, it could only mean one thing. He had noticed I wasn’t at the mansion and needed me back.

However, I was not in any mood to deal with his family now, so I flipped the phone over.

“What’s wrong?” Jack asked with an unsettling look on his face.

“Nothing,” I answered and again my phone buzzed.

“Are we done here, Mr Green?” I suddenly asked, needing some time away to process everything I’d just heard. Strangely, none of it made me feel any different. Not the wealth, influence, or the fact that I was the new leader of the most powerful organization in the country.

“Alright, I’ll drop you off. Take your time and get back in touch with me.”

I gave him a smile and mouthed the words thank you as I pushed back my chair and stood up.
