“I know,” Lexi smiled, her head tilting to the side to face me properly, “I know you won’t mess things up and I know you’re going to love them like a father should.” She finished.

My chest tightened and I wanted to bawl my eyes out due to the amount of belief she had in me but I knew better.

“Thank you.” I said with a sigh as I placed my head on the car headboard and closed my eyes. Questions ran through my mind and I wanted to know how she was able to handle everything all on her own.
