Meeting Ailene
Maria's POV
“Why exactly am I attending this dinner with you?” Helena grumbled behind me as we wore the pointy toe stilettos that we bought from the fashion shop a few days ago. “You will attend the dinner with me because I get to meet another Bolt family member. Look at it as a uhh support system kinda thing.” “Support system kinda thing? Since when do you need that level of support Maria Bellucci?” “Since the craziness that is called the Kidman family and the craziness that is Sebastian's father. You saw their actions recently, right?” “Yeah, you have a point. Which family member are we meeting this time around? His mother?” “Nope! His younger sister.” “Okay, younger sisters do not bring trouble.” Helena replied with enthusiasm then her face fell as she remembered something or someone. “Well, Maria. There's your younger sister.” “You better watch your mouth, missy. She's no sister of mine.” I replied with a fierce tone and Helena raised her hand in surrender. I headed to Nathan's room before leaving so that I would kiss him goodnight. “Wow! You look so pretty momma. You look like a princess.” He cooed when he saw me. He was already tucked in for the night but indicated that he must say goodnight to me before he slept. “Thank you, my sweet boy. Are you ready to go to bed?” “Mmhmm.” He replied, nodding his head happily. “Thank you for story time, momma.” “You are welcome, love. Momma's got to go. Goodnight, I love you.” She kissed him goodnight then joined Helena in the car and they zoomed off to the restaurant. “Oh! By the way Lena, Keith would be there. I forgot to tell you until the last minute.” “No, you didn't. You still have some delusional thought that I would fall in love with that man then discard all others. No, my dear Maria. They are all stuck with me, even Keith if he wants. I like sharing.” I shook my head and replied. “You must have a loosened screw somewhere in that smart brain of yours.” After a while, we arrived at the restaurant and entered the elevator that would take me to the section for the top elite in society. I saw Sebastian immediately as I entered. He stood at the terrace with Keith and a slim, tall brunette deep in conversations. “No one else is here by this time, that means Sebastian booked the whole floor, great! Hopefully there's no drama.” Helena said more to herself than to me. As we moved forward, Sebastian turned and our eyes met. I saw his lingering eyes widen slightly, shining with interest as he stared at me as if taking in every detail. He had a soft, almost unconscious smile on his face. I saw from the corner of my eyes that Helena shook her head then she said with a smile. “You two!” He moved closer and said my name in a breathless whisper. “Maria.” And all I could think about were the times I was under the sheets with this man. “You two could get a room, you know?” Keith joked but his eyes were on Helena. Sebastian's sister looked between the four of us and shook her head then scoffed and asked with unbelief. “She is Maria?” I turned slightly then tilted my head to look at the gorgeous tall woman standing in front of me. She had a poker face but the tone of her voice broke whatever moment I was having with Sebastian. “Oh, pardon my manners.” Sebastian replied then moved towards me and took my hand. “ Ailene, meet Maria, my fiance. Maria, this is my younger sister, Ailene.” “Ailene, that's a beautiful name.” I commented stretching my hand towards her but she shifted backwards slightly as if my touch would hurt her, and my brows creased at her behaviour. She cleared her throat then looked at Sebastian and said. “Seb, she's, she's…” “Gorgeous!” Helena said with a fake cough then shrugged when everyone stared at her. I was very confused as I stood there. What was Ailene's problem? Or what exactly was all this fuss? “Are you alright, AI?” Keith asked but Sebastian remained quiet. I looked at his hands and saw that they were tightly clenched. “Yeah, I am fine, Keith, thank you.” She replied then turned and headed towards the table. “You know what? Let's just have this dinner already.” Immediately I heard her words and saw her attitude, my heart sank. First his father, now his sister. I wonder what his mother's attitude would be. Helena took my hand and squeezed then whispered. “I am glad I accompanied you to this dinner.” “Me too.” I replied with a bright smile then I straightened my shoulders, raised my chin a little bit higher and then plastered a smile on my face. I wouldn't let any mannerless girl make me have a bad evening. Sebastian moved closer to me and whispered in my ear. “I am sorry about my sister's attitude, Maria. Trust me, she isn't like this. She is probably having a bad day.” I shrugged then took my seat, refusing to allow Sebastian's family spoil my evening. I picked up the menu then smiled when I saw the list. “At least the menu is great.” Helena whispered beside me and I smiled. Keith noticed the tension around the table so he raised a conversation around the hotel and its impeccable services. Helena joined in the conversation and soon Sebastian and I shared our contributions but Ailene did not say a word. She only ate her food angrily as if someone ate her favorite cake. Keith shifted forward in his seat then said. “Helena, I don't quite remember if I mentioned this before but you look so ravishing it's almost breathtaking.” “Thank you.” Helena replied shyly with a reddish hue on her face as if Keith's compliment had a deeper meaning, then she caught herself and added. “Good thing it's almost breathtaking. Wouldn't want to call the emergency unit.” At that moment Ailene cleared her throat dramatically while shaking her head then Helena cocked her head to the side and asked. “Is there something you'd like to tell or ask us, Ailene?” “No. I don't feel like talking right now.” “Mmm, that's funny because you have been talking since you came, just not with your mouth.” “Lena!” I half shouted when she heard her statement. Helena half stood then pushed her chair backwards. “Excuse me. I need some air.” “Uhmm, excuse me everyone, I have to check on Helena.” Keith stood up after a while and left. Sebastian took my hand under the table and squeezed them, trying to comfort me but I realized at that point that I wasn't feeling any hurt. And I realized that sometime that night, I had steeled myself against any negativity that would come from the Bolts, the Kidmans or anybody. There's so much negativity one could take and my subconscious had started pushing against them fiercely. I stood up and quietly announced. “I am going home. I've lost interest in the food and the event. Excuse me.” Helena saw me going to the elevator and joined me.Aftermaths Of DinnerSebastian's PoV “What just happened?” I asked no one in particular as soon as Maria and Helena entered the elevator and left. I really didn't understand what happened in the space of forty minutes. One minute I was admiring the exotic beauty that Maria was and the next minute she was leaving indicating that she had lost interest while my sister sat there with a satisfied glow on her face. “Someone tell me what the hell just happened.” I demanded hotly in a loud voice which made Ailene jump in surprise. “What happened, Ailene? What was all that about?” Keith asked my sister with a subtly accusatory tone. “What happened where? Why are you asking me? Why don't you ask the person who walked away in the middle of dinner? A phone call should clarify details.” “Shut the hell up, Ailene. Don't make me angry.” I growled in a low voice and she gasped. “What is going on, Seb? You've…you've never talked to me this way before.” “That's because you've never do
The Conference Maria's POV After the flopped dinner event with Sebastian and his sister, I buried myself deep inside work and life as Nathan's mother to avoid him and the troubles that came with him. Whenever he called I was either busy with work or Nathan hence there was no time to have lengthy conversations or even see him. Two weeks later, I was invited to be a guest speaker in one of the biggest conferences that was held in the legal sphere in collaboration with the business sphere. “Man! I am so excited about this conference. I am so excited to be in Paris again.” Helena shouted as we exited our plane to head to the SUV that would take us to our suite. I had guest speaker privileges and Helena was enjoying every single moment. “I am nervous, man.” I stated plainly. “Oh, come off it. You will do fine.” She waved me off, more interested in the glitz that came with being a speaker at the conference. “The crowd.” I stated and Helena turned. “You do realize that Se
The Conference IISebastian's POV I left Keith's penthouse apartment and realized that Maria would be alone in her apartment. The urge to go and see her was strong but then there was also the fact that she had been distant since the encounter with my sister, Ailene. I didn't blame her though, because I would do the same if I had met Ailene as Maria. Giving up the idea, I turned to go to my room but the urge to see her was so strong, I found myself walking towards her door. “Seriously Lena, what do you want this time? More condoms?” I heard her shout and laughed because I couldn't wait to see her face when she found out that it wasn't Lena but me. But when she opened the door, I was the one who became speechless when I saw her outfit. She wore a silk camisole and a matching pair of small silk shorts. They were the smallest pair of clothing I had seen on her and I was going crazy already. I tried to get my acts together so I cleared my throat. “I uhh, I wanted to come
Sweet Then SourMaria's POV It was the day of the conference and I would soon be called up to speak. My nerves were in shambles and Helena was squeezing my hands from time to time. I craned my neck and looked towards the west wing section of the hall and the door for the umpteenth time. “He'll be here soon. He has to be. Sebastian has never missed a day in this conference and he won’t start now, darling.” Helena whispered and I didn’t bother arguing with her that I wasn’t looking for Sebastian. After the intimate moment we had, he still came around and helped me practise for my speaking section and each time he did that, it was as if a higher level of confidence was unlocked in me. “Let’s welcome on stage for the third speaking session, Miss Maria Belluci.” I heard the host announce my name and the sound of applause that accompanied the announcement. “You’ve got this, baby girl.” Helena whispered fiercely and kissed my hand. THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL Maria's POV "Will you marry me, Miss Belluci?" The question has me eyeing the man before me as if he had grown two heads over the past half hour he had been in my office. If anyone had told me my perfectly boring morning would take the route it had now I would have called them insane. I had woken up in a good mood, earlier than usual because I wanted to drop my son off at his kindergarten before heading to work for a meeting that would essentially change my company for good not expecting to be interrupted by the last person I had expected to see. Sebastian Bolt. Even his name sounded attractive. He was the CEO of Bolt Industries who had hounded me with proposals to buy my company despite my continuous refusals. He had come to apparently convince me in person but soon changed his proposal. "What happened to buying my company?" I asked stepping away from him. I couldn't help but wonder if he remembered me from that night five years ago when I had
Family Reunion Maria’s POV “You sneaky little bitch!” A feminine voice screeched and I turned barely in time to see a flash of blonde hair launch herself at me. Thankfully, Hilda, one of the members of my team, had been quick enough to pull me out of the way before a set of red painted claws dug into my face. I nodded my thanks to her and turned to see the blonde glaring at me with hate in her eyes. “It’s been a long time, sister.” I told her, brushing a hand over my suit. “What brings you to Amsterdam?” I feigned a cold expression even though deep down I burned with curiosity. I hadn’t seen my half-sister since I had left London five year’s prior after my family had taken her side when I had caught her in bed with my fiancé so it was a marvel she would show up now in Amsterdam glaring daggers at me. “Don’t play coy, Maria.” She spat. “It doesn’t suit you.” Knowing whatever she had to say couldn’t be any good, I turned to look at my staff who were watching us with bate
Dinner Date. Sebastian’s POV “Is there a reason you didn’t inform me you were engaged?” Maria asked. I smiled as I could hear the anger in her voice even through the phone. I had hoped to tell her eventually even though I didn’t see that bit of information as important. “Good day to you too, fiancée.” I greeted knowing it would irk her. “Who told you?” She scoffed. “Your ex fiancée just visited me.” She answered. “Cassandra Kidman.” I hadn’t bothered telling her about the engagement because it had been a match planned by my father and it wasn’t important because nothing had been done, at least on my part. If the Kidman’s had thought I would agree to the match they had truly overestimated their worth because while they did have an impressive reach with their shipping company, in the last few years they had secured such terrible losses under Cassandra’s leadership that they had become a laughing stock in the financial world. I was watching them closely, bidding my time
Meeting The Inlaws Maria’s POV “Wear something elegant.” I read Sebastian’s text again and glared, checking my reflection in the crystal door of the restaurant he had chosen, satisfied my hair hadn’t been mussed on the ride over. I had chosen a sleek red number that Helena had insisted I wore because it was both sexy and elegant despite my protest because it hugged my curves too much. “There is no such thing as too much curves, dear Maria.” The annoying woman had said. “Besides it has been an age since you’ve had some…” “Please don’t use such language around my son.” “Alright but I do hope you sample some of that fine wine tonight.” I shook the conversation out of my head, fixing my face into a neutral mask as I spied Sebastian coming to meet me. He looked painfully handsome in the well-cut black suit he had worn with his beautiful dark hair artfully cut and styled. My breath hitched as he smiled revealing a perfect dentition and laugh lines which had been my weaknes

Plans And Counterplans Mr. Bolt PoV I waited until Sebastian left then picked up my phone and called Max Kidman. “Max, we have a problem. Meet me at the club now. Also, come along with your daughter, Cassandra. I’d like to make a request of her and also ask her some questions concerning her last meeting with my son.” The situation seemed to be getting out of hand and if I don't curb it now then I have a lot to lose. In fact, I will go down with the Kidmans because I know that Max will surely take his pound of flesh. Cassandra's wedding to Sebastian was all that Max wanted to keep him quiet because if he had Sebastian as a son-in-law then there was no way he would go down and I won't have to go down with him. I don't want to go down so I have to do everything humanly possible to ensure that Sebastian married the Kidman girl. If I look at it logically then I would agree that Sebastian was going after the right Kidman daughter. Maria was smart, bright and doing well with h
Kindling FlamesSebastian's PoV “What do you mean by what happened?” I asked Maria, admiring how gorgeous she looked even though she was obviously angry. She tsked and fixed hot gazes on me. “What happened between you and Cassandra? How and why exactly are you two even together in one picture? Where was the location in the picture? I need details. I can't just wake up and get surprises from the news. It shouldn't be my norm. I need details so I know what I am possibly facing soon.” “Maria, please take a seat. I will share every detail soon.” “Okay.” She simply replied then sat down and crossed her arms in front of her and I clamped my hands to prevent myself from smiling even though I was very angry. I was angry at myself for not flowing with my instincts because I knew immediately Cassandra showed up uninvited that something fishy was going on but I didn't act on it. I was also angry at Cassandra, the Kidmans and even my father for all these tantrums and naughty games and
News FlashMaria's PoV I woke up thinking about Maria's statement about me and Sebastian, and even as I got ready for work, the statement still won't leave my head. “What did she mean by oh Maria you are so wrong about you and Sebastian?” I asked myself as I styled my hair. I heard a knock on my door and turned to see Nathan followed closely by Emily. “Who's there at my door?” I asked dramatically then gasped and half shouted. “Oh look! It's my son! And he’s sooo ready for school.” Nathan laughed and raced towards my ready arms. I grabbed him and started tickling his chubby baby body until he raced his hands and started shouting amidst laughter. “I surrender! I surrender!” Laughing hard as well, I placed him down and planted many kisses on his face. He looked at me and said, “When I grow up, mommy, I will tickle you many many times.” “Well, that's when you grow up but till then I will….” I crouched low and started for him but he screamed and raced out of my room amidst
Running From The TruthHelena's POV It's been two days since I asked Keith to leave my house and since that time I hadn't heard a word from him. I should be relieved about this but for some reason I couldn't explain, it irked me and I just wanted to send myself to the naughty corner for even starting anything with him in the first place. “What were you thinking, Lena?” I asked myself quietly and Maria replied. “Did you say something, Lena?” “No, no. I was just talking to myself.” “Mmmhmm.” She replied sarcastically and pushed her anti blue-ray glasses downwards and dramatically gave a pose that silently depicted. 'Let me have a good look at you.’ I gave her a self conscious laugh and asked. “Girl, what is it?” “You were talking to yourself. That's what's up. You've been talking to yourself for days now and we both know when you do that, then you have something eating you inside. I know it's not work because you guys wrapped up the deal successfully and you are on a sh
