Chapter Twenty-Eight

The Conference II

Sebastian's POV

  I left Keith's penthouse apartment and realized that Maria would be alone in her apartment.

  The urge to go and see her was strong but then there was also the fact that she had been distant since the encounter with my sister, Ailene.

  I didn't blame her though, because I would do the same if I had met Ailene as Maria.

  Giving up the idea, I turned to go to my room but the urge to see her was so strong, I found myself walking towards her door.

  “Seriously Lena, what do you want this time? More condoms?”  I heard her shout and laughed because I couldn't wait to see her face when she found out that it wasn't Lena but me.

  But when she opened the door, I was the one who became speechless when I saw her outfit.

  She wore a silk camisole and a matching pair of small silk shorts.

  They were the smallest pair of clothing I had seen on her and I was going crazy already.

  I tried to get my acts together so I cleared my throat. “I uhh, I wanted to come say hi, may I come in?”

  “Yeah, yeah, uh, wait here so I will go and change my clothes.” Then she quickly closed the door.

  I didn't know I was holding my breath until the door closed then I asked myself if it was a good idea to spend some time alone with her.

  She opened the door after a while. “Come in.”

  Immediately I entered, my eyes rested on the glass on wine and the books laid open on the table. “What are you up to?”

  “Practising my lines for my speaking session.”

  “How's that going?” I asked and admired the two piece cashmere loungewear she had changed into. It hugged every delicious curve.

  “Good, oh, now that you are here. I should share my questions with you. You've attended and participated in this conference numerous times. What do you think about this?” She asked and handed her iPad over to me.

  I read through her prepared document and nodded my head. “ This is very good. Although, I suggest you tweak the second paragraph. Take out the third and fourth sentences from the fourth paragraph and place them in the second paragraph then the last sentence of the second paragraph can go to the fourth. You do this, you're good to go. My suggestion.”

  She quickly carried her MacBook and checked out the suggestions I indicated. “Oh wow! It makes it more fluid. I always thought there was a stiffness in the second paragraph. I will rearrange it now.”

  They worked on the document and then she had a mockup speaking session for him four different times where he corrected some activities or words and suggested others. When he was satisfied with the performance, they wrapped up.”

  “You did great, Maria. It was a delight to watch and listen to you.” I complimented her and admired her smile.

  “Oh! Please pardon me, I didn't get you a drink or anything. Do you want wine?” She  indicated apologetically and rushed to get another glass when I indicated that I wanted wine.

  She began to pack her books and everything we used for the practise session.

  “I guess I will have to continue this later. My head hurts already from all the reading, writing and speaking.”

  He patted the seat close to him. “Come and rest. You've done really great with preparations so a little rest won't alter anything.”

  She kept the books and I noticed that she took the seat opposite me instead of the one I patted.

  “Maria, why have you been avoiding me?” I asked her deciding to go straight to the point.

  Maria didn't really do well with beating around the bush.

  “I haven't been avoiding you, Sebastian. We have been talking haven't we? You also have been busy with a lot.”

  “When was the last time you saw me?”

  “The dinner with your sister.”

  “That was two weeks ago and I didn't see you at all after that. You always had one excuse or another.”

  “Well, you're seeing me now. I opened my door for you and you have been here, so I haven't been avoiding you.”

  “Cassandra came to see me two days ago.”

  “Oh! What did she want? Where did she see you?” She asked with a nonchalant tone but I saw her stealing glances at me, trying to gauge my expression and I chuckled slightly.

  You can be macho all you want, Maria but I know that beneath all of that is a gorgeous softie.

  “She came to say hello to me, well that was what she said and she came to my office but I had to ask her to leave.”

  “Why?”

  “Well, she said hello and I heard so she had to go. Secondly, her outfit was inappropriate. I don't want to appear in the news again.”

  “Mmm, how many days ago was this? Two days. You didn't tell me.”

  “I tried to but you said that you wanted to go pick up Nathan the first time and yesterday you said that the flight was about to take off.”

  “Oh! Okay.”

  “What's on your mind, Maria?”

  “Sebastian, but it wasn't as if we hung out every time. After signing the contract, we only talked when it was necessary. Has that changed?”

  “Yes. As time goes, we will not only communicate when it is necessary but we will do so often.”

  “Why? I don't think that's part of the plan.”

  “I don't recall there being a plan.” I reminded her and stood up. I knew what she was trying to do and I would not allow her retreat.

  “What..what are you doing?” She asked me as I slowly moved closer to her.

  'Coming to ravish you' I replied in my head then chuckled softly and replied. “I want to do the first thing that came to my head when you opened the door.”

  “What's that?”

  I didn't reply her because I knew that she would run away so I closed the gap between us and placed both hands on either side of her hair.

  “ This' I simply replied and captured her lips with mine.

  She resisted for a few minutes then moaned and held my face with her hands.

  I reached down as I kissed her then turned her so I was seated on the chair and Maria was straddling me.

  “Mmm, I missed this.” I revealed truthfully. “You have no idea what you do to me.”

  “Oh yeah? What do I do to you?” She asked with a sultry tone.

  “You make me go crazy with want, you make me want to come to your office and throw you on your table and ravish you there. You make me have wild desires.” I confessed.

  She chuckled and replied against my lips. “The beautiful part is that we can bring some of your wild desires to life, there should be an office and a table in this house.”

  “Yes, let's do that.” I replied and carried her straight to the table where we had our practice and brainstorming session a few hours ago.
