Alpha Zach’s POV
I had never really dealt with someone crying before, well not someone that I was attracted too and as she sobbed into the pillows I just watch felling completely powerless, what could I do, should I comfort her, or should I leave her?
Standing by the door I just watch her, her shoulders juddering up and down under the blanket with the sobs but they were soon replaced with those little snuffles, signalling that she was asleep.
Moving towards her, I pull back the blanket from her face, it was red and tear stained whilst her eyes were sealed shut, little puddles sitting in her eye sockets. Maybe bringing her here was the wrong choice after all.
Kissing her on the forehead I feel the sparks spread across my lips, there was no doubt about it, Charlie was indeed my mate but would she accept me after her rejection of Alpha Max. I could offer her more than him after all, he was just a werewolf whereas we were Lycans and she belonged here with us.
I could sit here for hours watching her but I could not waste any more time, it was time to see Sophia.
Sophia knew her daughter was coming, I had already mind linked her to let her know but she didn’t seem happy about it and she wasn’t the only one.
We were furious to find out that she had a daughter, an heir to the throne. For a long time the Queen had been worried that there would be no one to take over when she passed, she had even begged Sophia to mate with any male to produce an heir but Sophia had always refused.
A few months ago, word had spread that a girl with dark hair and grey blue eyes had appeared in a wolf pack, severely malnourished and without a wolf.
Malnourished wolves is a common thing to hear, especially if they had been used as slaves but what had piqued my interest was the description of her, she looked just like Sophia and the Queen, the family resemblance was unmissable.
I was going to wait to make an appearance but when the call came asking for help, I jumped at the chance to meet her, normally I would take some time to think things over and figure out what I could gain from the pack but knowing this girl was there changed everything.
As soon as I stepped on to Alpha Max's land i could scent her and knew immediately that she belonged with me, the only problem was, she was our future Queen and I could not make my advances on her like I could of if she was just anyone
Leaving Charlie and ordering guards to stand at her door, I head out the packhouse. Sophia lived a couple of miles away on the edge of our pack, she preferred to keep herself as far away from us as possible, yet at the same time she was to fearful about leaving and she had good reason to be. I just hadn't figured out a way to tell Charlie.
Being an Alpha enabled me to travel where I wanted, when I wanted although I knew there would still be warriors close by, watching and waiting just in case something was to happen.
My feet crunched across the gravel of the driveway as I walk towards the small home where Sophia lived. The land was pretty quiet considering it was late, I thought it might be busier with some Lycans out hunting but I only passed a few people who waved at me before carrying on with whatever they were doing.
The door to Sophia’s house was slightly open which was unusual and as I knock there is no answer, pushing the door open and stepping in I remember to duck, she had low ceilings that were not suitable for my six foot frame. Nothing seemed out of place as I call out to her but there was no answer.
Sniffing the air, I knew she was here, her scent was strong which meant she way nearby.
“Sophia, I need to talk to you”
The wall to my right moves a little and she steps forward, she had blended herself into the background trying to hide.
“Are you alone?” she questions me, her eyes darting around the room.
“Yes, Charlie is asleep in the packhouse”
Her lips curve up at the edge “Is that what she calls herself?”
Sophia didn’t know much of Charlie’s history and as I look at her, her expression changes
“What are you not telling me? Please tell me Damon protected our daughter”
“No Sophia, quite the opposite”
“He abandoned her for that whore?”
“No he abused her”
She slumps down into a chair looking completely horrified
“He promised he would look after her, he said if I left she would have the best life”
I shake my head, I knew it was a lot to process and I honestly couldn’t believe how much she had been through.
“Alpha Zach, I am asking for permission to hunt him down”
“There is no need Sophia”
“But I need to make him suffer for what he has done”
“Sophia, you are not listening to me, Charlie killed him”
Her blue grey eyes are brimming with tears “Charlie killed him?”
“She ripped his head from his spine”
Sophia falls silent, she fiddles with the ring on her middle finger, refusing to make eye contact.
“Sophia, I am requesting your presence at the pack house tomorrow morning at nine sharp, do you understand”
She doesn’t answer me, she may have been the Queens daughter but other than that she has no ranking and therefore has to follow my orders
“Do you understand Sophia?”
“I can’t Alpha Zach, I am not ready to see her”
“It does not matter, she is here and you WILL come to the packhouse”
She nods, a tear sliding down her face “Yes Alpha”
I leave her sitting on the chair and walk back up towards the packhouse, the sky was dark and not a single star could be seen yet the moon was full and bright and I had this strange feeling that Charlie being here was not going to be easy.
Charlies POVConsidering I had an amazing nights sleep, I felt like I had been run down by a bus. A dull ache in my chest and my mind instantly went to Max and how he had dropped to his knees as we pulled away in the car.The more I thought about it, the more the pain grew until I felt like I couldn’t catch my breath, what was happening to me?Clutching my chest as the pain spread, I tried to scream out for help, but no sound left my mouth and my chest continued to grow tighter as my lungs refused to work.Throwing out a ball of red mist at the door, I hoped it would make enough noise that someone would come in, but it fizzled out before it even reached the door.Trying again, the ball finally hits the door only this time it blows a hole straight through it and the door is pulled open, Kayden stares at me alarmed as he rushes towards me and I hear him calling for Alpha Zach as spots form in front of my eyes, darkness closing in
Alpha Zach's POV I knew she wasn't going to like what I say and wait patiently for her to get comfortable and pray to the Moon Goddess that she will not freak out "Well spit it out then" she snaps at me, annoyed that I was taking my time. If anyone else were to speak to me like that, my hand would be tightening around their throat just about now, but she was the Queen and she was my mate, I couldn't risk that now when she was seeing the softer side of me. Even Kayden was taking the micky saying that this girl already had me wrapped around her finger and he wasn't far from the truth, I would do anything for her. "Charlie, there is no easy way for me to say this, but your mother killed your grandmother" Her eyes are wide for a moment as she registers what I am saying and then she narrows them at me "Your lying" "I have no reason to lie to you Charlie" "So you're telling me that my mother who would n
Charlies POVThey were all watching me, everyones eyes were on me and as I spin around it seemed like they were closing in on me. As I continue to turn I see Alpha Zach standing on the porch looking worried, was he worried about me or his pack? The gravel under my feet was digging into my bare skin as I carry on turning. I had to stop them getting close, I couldn’t have them judging me.I summon a ball of red mist as everyone watches and slam it into the ground, those nearest to me were sent flying, it wasn’t powerful enough to do to much damage but strong enough to stop them coming closer. The tears stream down my face as I look at everyone laid on the ground and Alpha Zach gestures to the packhouse. I move quickly, my feet pounding the gravel and race pass him, straight up the stairs and into my room, slamming the door shut and leaning back against it.The tears fall from my face and onto my clothes, they were heavy, my sobs were loud
Alpha Zach’s POV“What I will bring? What does that even mean?” she huffs at me“I did not get a chance to find out, Kayden called me”She turns her back on me, clearly annoyed with my answerEven though I had figured things out about Charlie’s father, I was not certain I could tell her, well not yet anyway. How would finding out that she is half vampire help her? Or finding out that the man who raised and abused her was not her real father. Not only that, Sophia dropped some pretty heavy news on me about Charlie’s birth father which I needed time to process. It was obvious that a vampire had killed one of my packs men, they were the only ones to rip out throats like that, the problem was that when a vampire is using their speed ability, only another vampire can see them. It would have been how they got onto my land unseen, yet Charlie saw them.Kayden knew this little fact about vampires and
Charlie’s POVI’m not even sure what made me do it, the sudden urge to run away from it all. Maybe it was the news that I was part vampire, or the fact that Alpha Zach is clearly in love with me but as I grab my suitcase, I purposely hit him with it as I walk by and go to his office. As much as I wanted to go home, right now I didn’t want to be alone.Sinking down onto the rug, the heat from the fire warms my skin, Kayden had been right about it being much colder here and as much as I didn’t want to admit it, I didn’t have the right clothes for this weather. As I sit staring into the fire, a blanket is draped over my shoulders and when I look up I find Alpha Zach smiling at me, he doesn't speak and heads to his desk, concentrating on the paperwork that was piled high.Every so often I would steal a glance at him, the light of the fire gave him an ominous look but in the daylight he looked so different, his eyes oddly dark but
Alpha Zach’s POVWhy oh why did I schedule meetings for today?Especially with Charlie here, I tried to change some of them around but I had put off dealing with the Lycan school on my land for some time. There were problems between a couple of the students and the teachers seemed no longer capable of dealing with the issues. As I shower I hear Charlie stir, it wasn’t exactly an ideal situation having her sleep in my room but considering she locked the door to her bedroom and then climbed out the window, it was the only suitable option.I made sure to sleep on the futon in my room, it was not exactly the greatest night of sleep, mostly because any time Charlie stirred, I was up and ready to protect her but she was mostly just having horrible dreams and most likely about what she had seen by the words she was muttering. It was highly amusing finding her with the duvet wrapped completely around her, just her cute little face poking out, a
Charlie’s POVHanging out with Ally was interesting, she really was a good laugh and it was nice to listen to her as she showed me around the grounds, although I was annoyed to hear that Alpha Zach had other girls in his room I don’t tell her as much, thankfully she talks so much that I didn’t really need to speak. We are near the forest where I had seen that thing kill one of Alpha Zach's men and she looks at me“Is it true you saw it?”I nod my head“You saw a vampire?”I wasn’t sure what she was getting at but she flicks her blue hair from her face and smiles at me“That must have been fucked up”I frown at her, I didn’t like curse words but I don’t say anything for all I know it might be common practice around here, although I hadn’t heard Alpha Zach use them.I don't tell her about what Alpha Zach told me, I was still trying to accept it m
Alpha Zach’s POV“She is missing? Like actually missing?”I nod my head“How?, I don’t understand, it’s a bit coincidental isn’t it. I come and she suddenly goes missing”She was not wrong but whoever this vampire was, he seemed to be looking for Sophia too.“Charlie, I have my men on it now, they are scouring the house and will report back with any findings”She folds her arms across her chest, her blue grey eyes focussing on me but she was not directly looking at me, it was almost like she could not look me in the eye and when I think about it, she has never looked me directly in the eye, more like she was looking through me.“Do you expect them to find anything?”She was always so direct with her questions, never skirting the issue, she would make a fine Queen when she is ready.I shake my head because honestly, no I did not expect my men to find

She was awake and we stay laid on our backs, turning our heads to face each other, her eyes were red and black, the grey colour long gone but I didn’t care, she was here with me and she could hear and see me.“How do you feel?”I didn’t tell her that she had no magic anymore, I wanted to make sure she understood what had happened. I wanted her to know that Zach was definitely dead.“The magic is gone isn’t it?” she whispers quietly“How do you know?”“I can feel it, or lack of it. The constant bubbling has gone”Charlie had never described it in that way before and I wondered if that was what had been causing the panic attacks, the constant feeling of something inside of her. She hadn’t had an attack since she had been with me or maybe Zach had somehow causing them with his magic, so he could kiss her and make her think only he could make her feel better.I wipe t
As I kneel by Charlie I stare around in shock. He was dead, he was really dead. Zach’s bloodied limbs were scattered all around and I kick his head away from Charlie and I. I didn’t want to see him, any of him. The battle with him was finally over. After everything I did, everything Charlie had done, it had taken the hybrids to collectively work together to bring him down. Charlie was free, we were all free.I could hear her heartbeat fine and I check her neck, I wanted to see if his mark was still there. It was fading before my eyes and I hear Matthew gasp next to me.“Their marks, they are fading” he breathes a sigh of relief. He couldn’t believe it, he looked all over Alice’s legs and feet just in case he had missed it but just like Charlie’s, hers was gone and so was Eva’s.“Why are they not moving?” I try not to sound franticHe shakes his head at me “I don’t know,
Everyone was oddly calm including Charlie. Everyone except myself.Charlie had just told us the news we had been waiting for and i could not understand how everyone was so calm.Could Zach have known this was going to happen? Could he have planned for Charlie and her sisters to all be in place? It seemed impossible and yet possible at the same time. Zach had kept many secrets from everyone, and they were slowly unravelling but on his terms and we needed to change that.“I will meet him” Matthew suggests, and I shake my head. The last thing we needed Zach knowing is that we had the first hybrid in existence in my pack.“No, I will wait in the forest for him. I need you to watch over Charlie”He frowns at me, telling me that it was too risky for me to go out there in my state. With Jett back I was feeling stronger than ever. I may not look it, but I felt great.“It should be me” Charlie pipes up from
A couple of days had passed, and Charlie trained with Matthew every second she could, even when he told her to rest, she wouldn’t, or she couldn’t sit still. She was determined to succeed. He trained her mentally and physically but would not tell me what was involved. She had accepted her role as mine and the packs Luna, it was the only way for everyone to communicate with her, particularly Matthew and she needed all the help he could offer. Her sisters had not restored her hearing or sight yet because they needed to be certain that Charlie could hold the block and at the moment it was Jett and me. Her skills were growing massively but her mind still felt weak.Charlie was now able to move through the forest alone and without making a single sound, her feet touching the ground in silence as she moved. It was like she had tuned into nature, she even made it from the pack house to the training area alone yesterday and that is not an easy walk. Matthew
“It is not going to be easy”Matthew tries to warn me, but I had already thought about that and tell him just as much“And I am not even sure that it is possible for a wolf to do succeed in what I have achieved with Alice”Again, I nod my head, I understood what he was trying to say to me. It was his way of explaining that it might fail but if I do not try then we will never know.“You will get one option Alpha Max. You have to get into her head quicker than him, almost barricade her mind from his”“When and how?”“When she starts waking. At the moment she is unconscious. He can’t get in her mind whilst she is out of it, the wolfsbane in her system is too strong. The moment she starts waking will be your chance and your only chance. It will take all of your energy Alpha and if it fails, there will be no second chance!”We watch Charlie and her body does not move except
Hey everyone, I hope you are all well and I want to thank you so much for reading up until now, I really appreciate it and it keeps me motivated to write. However I just wanted to let you all know that I will be taking a few days off due to unforeseen personal problems but I promise not to keep you all waiting to long, the end is near and I hope you will all be happy with how the story ends after all the sadness that Max and Charlie have suffered. Take care and I will try and get back as soon as possible x Taylor West
I just sit and watch her. Pain is etched on Charlie’s face as she fights to keep the block up. People come and go, mostly to speak to me or Anna but I wasn’t interested. I just wanted to find a way to help Charlie break from his grasp on her.Matthew comes to find me at one point, but he frowns when he sees Charlie “What is she doing?”“She is blocking Zach”He stands by me and watches her like I do“Why are you here Matthew?”“I did come to speak to you, but now I am interested in why she is suddenly able to block him”“Alexander spurred her on”“Your deceased brother?”“That’s the one”Matthew does not speak he just nods his head with a surprised look on his face.“What did you want to speak to me about?”“I would like to offer my services”“You are already helping&rdq
She walks silently alongside me her fingers laced with my own. She doesn’t stumble or trip in the forest like she knows where she is going, but her fear was unmistakable. It exuded from her and even when I ask her she just tells me that everything is fine, but it wasn’t. Not only could I sense it coming from her, but I also felt her fear too and it wasn’t me that she was afraid of.I find myself stood in front of the packhouse, not the place I was expecting to be and I must have stopped abruptly because Charlie asks me what’s happening.“We are at the pack house?!”I wasn’t questioning Charlie, I was questioning myself, I thought we were further away than this and closer to the hospital.Charlie frowns at me “They built you a new packhouse?”“They did”She reaches her hand out and I guide her forward a little. As she holds her hand against the door she smiles but doesn’t
