Alpha Max’s POV
Katie was a sweet little girl, her eyes bright with innocence as she laughs. I let her win our game of snap, she was only five and the pure joy on her face each time flooded my heart and I briefly wonder what mine and Charlies pups would have looked like.
The kid was weary of Draven and I didn’t blame her, from what I knew of vampires and my meeting with Draven, they were not something to be trusted, twisting everything so it suited them.
When I carried Katie away, I listened to their conversation from the other side of the door. I wanted to know more about Kiwi and how she was involved with the vampire. If I was Alpha Zach, I would not be letting her out of the cell anytime soon.
I was shocked to hear that Kiwi knew who Draven was and as the memories of her whilst in her breakdown enter my mind I realise she guided us into contacting Alpha Zach. She was never in a breakdown, she had been playing us all along. How long had she
Alpha Zach’s POVI could not believe what I was seeing, my own brother was mixing with the humans but how and why? He was a Lycan and I had seen his Lycan form.He looks in my direction, obviously sensing I was there but he does not see me and I watch him duck away from the crowd, heading back inside the building he came from. Others follow him and they return moments later but this time with shot guns.Kayden’s voice comes into my head “Did you tell Max to stay in your office?”“Yes” I snap back, this was not the time to be distracted with stupid questions“Why? I thought you had arrested him?”“Kayden, just shut your mouth, I am busy” I shut the mind link off and move, I had to keep an eye on my brother, whatever he was up too. They walk down the road parallel to the forest. Adam keeps looking in my direction, but he still does not see me and my Lycan hides our scent. I cou
Alpha Max’s POVSomething was not right, I could just feel it in my bones. Kayden stays with us, mostly keeping his mouth shut but he does not take his eyes off of us. That I did not care about, I was not going anywhere, instead I started making a list of things in the pack that I wanted answers too. When Kayden suddenly stands up, making me jump and startling Katie, he looks at me “Something is wrong”“Now you think something is wrong?” I reply sarcasticallyHe shakes his head at me “With Alpha Zach, his mind link is weak, he wants everyone in lockdown”“Do it then, contact the pack, make an announcement”“What if it is a trick?”“Don’t be a dickhead, he is asking you for a reason” I was becoming more and more short tempered the longer I stayed here.I watch as Kayden’s eyes glaze over, making the announcement for everyone to get inside a
Charlie’s POVI remember Zach calling after me, I remember how the fallen branches crunched under my feet as I ran. I remember hearing the waves smashing against the cliff that I stood on, the overwhelming guilt that was sweeping through me. I remember his dark eyes, how they were begging for me to hold on and then there is nothing. Until I woke up here.My wrists and ankles were bound by silver chains that held me against a wall, barely able to move further than a few feet. The shackles burn the skin around my ankles and wrists with a hiss, searing the fresh wounds as I try to figure out what was happening.Gypsy still did not answer me, I tried to call the magic forward but nothing happened, not even the slightest red glimmer. I was nothing just like I was when I went to the human school.“Hold her mouth open” I hear someone speak out in the dark and someone grabs me, their rough hands pulling at my jaw as I try to clench it shut.
Alpha Max’s POVWe had the numbers, we could take the humans down.Whilst we wait, they begin strapping Alpha Zach up against a wooden pole, a bonfire sitting below him as his head lulled to one side, blood continuing to drip from his body as he remained unconscious. The humans did not set it alight immediately, like they were waiting for him to wake up.As more of the pack arrives, Kayden rushes towards me“My mother is helping Charlie”I was surprised, because bringing him here was a worry of mine. Knowing that his parents were humans, his interests could have been conflicted.“How?” I ask him curiously because he hadn’t left our hiding place and he could not mind link humansHe pulls out his phone, smiling at me “Through the power of technology”I hated technology but right now, it just might be a life saver for Charlie even if we could not save Alpha Zach.Kayden
Alpha Zach’s POVEverything is hazy, the room is red, people are stood around staring at something, a bright light, something that is almost blinding but welcoming. The white noise that was making my head spin was deafening. The others, Kayden, Alpha Max, an old lady were all stood still like statues whilst the noise seemed to call to me, begging for my help, pleading for my forgiveness and as the light dimmed, Charlie was stood in the middle of it.Her eyes fixated on me, the usual grey blue long gone, replaced with eyes of mismatched colours; one red eye and one black eye.She does not move from her position, but I hear her voice inside my head, calling for my help.“Help me Alpha Zach” the words repeat over and over softening with each word until she screams“COME TO ME”Sitting up suddenly, it was like DeJa’Vu. Except the room was an eerie red like the colour of spilled blood. The people
Alpha Max’s POVShe wanted him, no one else, just him.As Eileen pulls me away into the next room; leaving Charlie and Alpha Zach alone, she tells us what she had done to save Charlie. The liquid she had forced down Charlie’s throat was an antidote and not just any antidote, the only one in existence for oleander.“How is that even possible?” It sounded to much of an exaggeration“I am the only one capable of making it. We grow oleander, we had to make sure someone knew how to reverse the effects”She winks at me but I notice how Kayden had sunk his head, hanging it in shame “It wasn’t Charlie who killed Ally”I shake my head but before I get a chance to answer, his mother wraps her thin arms around him, giving him a little squeeze, the way a mother only could.“Son it is not your fault. Adam is a tyrant. He killed your father too”Kayden gasps at the
Charlie’s POVEvery part of my being called to him, I felt incomplete without him. Alpha Zach he was everything I wanted. He was all I could think about, when I had seen him hanging by those chains, I felt like I was losing him. As the pain retreats, something else radiates through my body. I didn't know if it was from the liquid the old woman gave me or something else but I thought I was going to die, I begged the moon goddess to let me see him again. Even if it was for the last time.Kayden’s mother whispers to me in the dark cave “I’m sorry, it will hurt but it will help”She glances over to the door as she helps me sit back on the ground “I have to go, but it will not be long now”She leaves through the door and moments later I feel the burn of a whip as it lashes my face. The stinging pain quickly subsides as my body had become used to it. A man yells at me for puking up my food. He grabs me by the fac
Alpha Zach’s POVMax did not have to tell me anything, but I agreed, it was odd that Kayden’s mother had not told him anything.I thank him anyway and let him know that it is not his business anymore, he had repaid his debt unlike other packs.“You are free to leave Alpha Max, I will not require your presence any longer”It was obvious to me that he was keen to leave, he could see the connection between Charlie and I and my guess is that his heart must be breaking all over again. I would want to leave to if I was in his position.“I have one question before I leave” he runs a hand through his short hair, his shoulders dropping slightly “Do you love her?”“Of course I do, I have since the moment I first set eyes on her”“Then why are you putting her in constant danger? You must have known about your brother in some way?”“Just like you knew that Alexan

She was awake and we stay laid on our backs, turning our heads to face each other, her eyes were red and black, the grey colour long gone but I didn’t care, she was here with me and she could hear and see me.“How do you feel?”I didn’t tell her that she had no magic anymore, I wanted to make sure she understood what had happened. I wanted her to know that Zach was definitely dead.“The magic is gone isn’t it?” she whispers quietly“How do you know?”“I can feel it, or lack of it. The constant bubbling has gone”Charlie had never described it in that way before and I wondered if that was what had been causing the panic attacks, the constant feeling of something inside of her. She hadn’t had an attack since she had been with me or maybe Zach had somehow causing them with his magic, so he could kiss her and make her think only he could make her feel better.I wipe t
As I kneel by Charlie I stare around in shock. He was dead, he was really dead. Zach’s bloodied limbs were scattered all around and I kick his head away from Charlie and I. I didn’t want to see him, any of him. The battle with him was finally over. After everything I did, everything Charlie had done, it had taken the hybrids to collectively work together to bring him down. Charlie was free, we were all free.I could hear her heartbeat fine and I check her neck, I wanted to see if his mark was still there. It was fading before my eyes and I hear Matthew gasp next to me.“Their marks, they are fading” he breathes a sigh of relief. He couldn’t believe it, he looked all over Alice’s legs and feet just in case he had missed it but just like Charlie’s, hers was gone and so was Eva’s.“Why are they not moving?” I try not to sound franticHe shakes his head at me “I don’t know,
Everyone was oddly calm including Charlie. Everyone except myself.Charlie had just told us the news we had been waiting for and i could not understand how everyone was so calm.Could Zach have known this was going to happen? Could he have planned for Charlie and her sisters to all be in place? It seemed impossible and yet possible at the same time. Zach had kept many secrets from everyone, and they were slowly unravelling but on his terms and we needed to change that.“I will meet him” Matthew suggests, and I shake my head. The last thing we needed Zach knowing is that we had the first hybrid in existence in my pack.“No, I will wait in the forest for him. I need you to watch over Charlie”He frowns at me, telling me that it was too risky for me to go out there in my state. With Jett back I was feeling stronger than ever. I may not look it, but I felt great.“It should be me” Charlie pipes up from
A couple of days had passed, and Charlie trained with Matthew every second she could, even when he told her to rest, she wouldn’t, or she couldn’t sit still. She was determined to succeed. He trained her mentally and physically but would not tell me what was involved. She had accepted her role as mine and the packs Luna, it was the only way for everyone to communicate with her, particularly Matthew and she needed all the help he could offer. Her sisters had not restored her hearing or sight yet because they needed to be certain that Charlie could hold the block and at the moment it was Jett and me. Her skills were growing massively but her mind still felt weak.Charlie was now able to move through the forest alone and without making a single sound, her feet touching the ground in silence as she moved. It was like she had tuned into nature, she even made it from the pack house to the training area alone yesterday and that is not an easy walk. Matthew
“It is not going to be easy”Matthew tries to warn me, but I had already thought about that and tell him just as much“And I am not even sure that it is possible for a wolf to do succeed in what I have achieved with Alice”Again, I nod my head, I understood what he was trying to say to me. It was his way of explaining that it might fail but if I do not try then we will never know.“You will get one option Alpha Max. You have to get into her head quicker than him, almost barricade her mind from his”“When and how?”“When she starts waking. At the moment she is unconscious. He can’t get in her mind whilst she is out of it, the wolfsbane in her system is too strong. The moment she starts waking will be your chance and your only chance. It will take all of your energy Alpha and if it fails, there will be no second chance!”We watch Charlie and her body does not move except
Hey everyone, I hope you are all well and I want to thank you so much for reading up until now, I really appreciate it and it keeps me motivated to write. However I just wanted to let you all know that I will be taking a few days off due to unforeseen personal problems but I promise not to keep you all waiting to long, the end is near and I hope you will all be happy with how the story ends after all the sadness that Max and Charlie have suffered. Take care and I will try and get back as soon as possible x Taylor West
I just sit and watch her. Pain is etched on Charlie’s face as she fights to keep the block up. People come and go, mostly to speak to me or Anna but I wasn’t interested. I just wanted to find a way to help Charlie break from his grasp on her.Matthew comes to find me at one point, but he frowns when he sees Charlie “What is she doing?”“She is blocking Zach”He stands by me and watches her like I do“Why are you here Matthew?”“I did come to speak to you, but now I am interested in why she is suddenly able to block him”“Alexander spurred her on”“Your deceased brother?”“That’s the one”Matthew does not speak he just nods his head with a surprised look on his face.“What did you want to speak to me about?”“I would like to offer my services”“You are already helping&rdq
She walks silently alongside me her fingers laced with my own. She doesn’t stumble or trip in the forest like she knows where she is going, but her fear was unmistakable. It exuded from her and even when I ask her she just tells me that everything is fine, but it wasn’t. Not only could I sense it coming from her, but I also felt her fear too and it wasn’t me that she was afraid of.I find myself stood in front of the packhouse, not the place I was expecting to be and I must have stopped abruptly because Charlie asks me what’s happening.“We are at the pack house?!”I wasn’t questioning Charlie, I was questioning myself, I thought we were further away than this and closer to the hospital.Charlie frowns at me “They built you a new packhouse?”“They did”She reaches her hand out and I guide her forward a little. As she holds her hand against the door she smiles but doesn’t
