Charlie’s POV
He was speaking to me like I was a child and all I could think about was how he lied to me and how I was never going to see Max again.
I guess in some ways I hoped that I would have had a chance to go back to Max’s pack after I had met with my mother, but coming here, everything had just gone down hill, one devastating sadness after another.
I really hoped the Moon Goddess was right and that Ripper taking control of Max did not necessarily mean the end for Max. She did say ‘never say never’ and it played over and over in my head
“Are you going to say something?” Zach stares at me, his hands in his pockets, waiting for me to say something but I couldn’t put my words into sentences.
Shaking my head, I back away from him “Why… why didn’t you just tell me? We could have stopped everything from happening, stopped everyone from DYING!”
“Charlie”

Hey guys thank you so much for reading and if you have got this far, I really appreciate it because writing means the world to me. I just want to let you all know that i am taking a break for a couple of days as I have been writing flat out to get it to this point and the story is far from over. For those of you that have been rooting for Max, do not worry, he will get his own happy ending. Part two will continue in this book and will be from Max's POV, find out what really happened to Max when he lost to his wolf and why he stabbed Zach. Will Zach survive the stabbing or will this be the end for him?
Ripper had lost the plot and being trapped inside him with no way out was heart breaking. How had I let it happen so easily? I never even saw it coming. There weren’t any warning signs that I was about to become a Rogue.I loved being able to shift when I wanted, but more importantly I loved Charlie and I could not stand being put on the side-line to Ripper, it was worse than being up against Zach. Each passing day that Ripper was in control, I was drifting. Like my own mind was fading and it was becoming harder and harder to hold on. Ripper no longer communicated with me, making it harder. I was slowly understanding what it was to be Rogue. No longer sharing a body with your wolf spirit. They fully take over until we become nothing. My father had constantly fought against Rogues, ending their lives because they are feral and vicious. They only care about themselves and what they want.As a child I had asked my father many times why we could n
“Is he dead?”“Yes” I tell her as she drops to her knees beside his body“No, no, no, he can’t be dead. I need answers”Charlie starts shaking his body by the shoulders. Screaming at him to stay with her and how he cannot die.“Charlie he is dead”I was more surprised by her reaction, I thought she would have been happy, especially after everything Zach had put her through.“How are you alive? I killed you” her hands are covered in Zachs blood as she pulls at the dagger, but it just makes the bleeding worse.“You killed Ripper, not me”She starts summoning a ball of red mist as she stares at me. I didn’t blame her. If I had killed someone and they suddenly came back to life, then I would be sceptical too.“Charlie, it’s me, its Max”“Is it really you?”I nod my head but keep my distance and her
“The King of Lycans?” it sounded ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as Charlie being their Queen“Believe me or not, it is the truth”Could he actually be telling me the truth? He had no reason to lie to me anymore.“And the Moon Goddess want you dead?”Zach nods his head at me. The Moon Goddess had told me to kill him but not because he was a King, but because he was a Rogue.I look at Charlie who is still out of it and I start wiping Zach’s blood from her hands while I think over his words. Her fingers wrap tightly around my fingers for a second but then release me. Could she hear us?“What did she promise you Max?”“Excuse me?”“My guess is that the Moon Goddess promised you something because that is what she has done to all the others that have tried to kill me. Although i was not expecting her to targetmy brother”“All the others?&rdqu
“ME! What have I done” she tries to climb off the bed away from Zach and almost falls, catching her, she smiles at me but quickly turns her attention back to Zach.“You have not done anything”“Then why is she after me?” she slams her good fist down on the bed in anger“You saw her, yes?" Zach asks quietlyShe nods her head at him “But so have you and Max too”“Max was different”“Because my spirit was separated from Ripper?”He nods his head. “Other than that, the only time the Moon Goddess pays you a visit is when your time is nearly up or she is after something”Wrapping my fingers around her wrist “You have seen her Charlie and you are not dying”, I try to keep her calm, hoping that she would understand the importance of what we were saying.“Yes, she showed me Ripper and Zach and led me to Zach but
I didn’t know whether I should say something or not and even if I could speak, what could I say?. They continued to stare at one another. Charlie’s heart rate flickering all over the place. I wondered if she knew that Zach was helping her or maybe she thought she was having a heart attack.Stumbling over the rubble towards them, they continue to remain motionless other than stare at each other. As I move closer I can see Zachs lips moving, like he was muttering or even chanting something.“What’s happening?” I ask Zach and he holds a hand up to me, keeping his eyes trained on Charlie. He was speaking a language I had not heard before, the sounds and words rolling into each other. He does not blink, he does not break eye contact, he was trying to keep Charlie alive and yet her own body was fighting it.It was maybe seconds even minutes before she muttered a sound. Her heart rate slowing to a steady pace. Zach’s chanting
“I can’t! I cannot help you anymore” I shake my head in disbelief, of all the things that I have heard from him, this is just pushing it to far.“You cannot or you will not?”“It is not a choice of can’t or won’t. You fucked up big style Zach and there is no coming back from that”“There are more important things in life than the Moon Goddess”Zach had to be losing the plot, he just had to be! Everything he was saying, everything that he was admitting too, and he still thought he could come back from that. What was Charlie going to think when she woke up?“Without her we would be nothing. We would not exist, Wolf or Lycan”“I get that but”“No buts Zach, for a ‘King of Lycans’ you have royally fucked up”He glares at me and walks out the room without a single glance at Charlie. As I linger deciding what to do, Charl
“Let her go”Zach tries to pull me back inside, his hand digging into my arm as I try to push him away from me.“Get the fuck off of me” I snarl at him but he continues to pull me and we tumble down the stairs together, landing in a heap at the bottom.Getting up I race to the door that leads out of the back of the packhouse. Using my eyes I do a quick search over the grounds and I cannot see her anywhere.I try to mind link her, but she blocks me and I was worried.“Let my mate go” I turn around to Zach who has propped himself up against the wall.“Let her go! Let her go! You really want to just let her go after she listened to everything you just told me?”He looks at the ground sheepishly “She will be fine”“Why? Because you are going to take away her ability to feel?”“No” he snaps at me “She would have found out e

She was awake and we stay laid on our backs, turning our heads to face each other, her eyes were red and black, the grey colour long gone but I didn’t care, she was here with me and she could hear and see me.“How do you feel?”I didn’t tell her that she had no magic anymore, I wanted to make sure she understood what had happened. I wanted her to know that Zach was definitely dead.“The magic is gone isn’t it?” she whispers quietly“How do you know?”“I can feel it, or lack of it. The constant bubbling has gone”Charlie had never described it in that way before and I wondered if that was what had been causing the panic attacks, the constant feeling of something inside of her. She hadn’t had an attack since she had been with me or maybe Zach had somehow causing them with his magic, so he could kiss her and make her think only he could make her feel better.I wipe t
As I kneel by Charlie I stare around in shock. He was dead, he was really dead. Zach’s bloodied limbs were scattered all around and I kick his head away from Charlie and I. I didn’t want to see him, any of him. The battle with him was finally over. After everything I did, everything Charlie had done, it had taken the hybrids to collectively work together to bring him down. Charlie was free, we were all free.I could hear her heartbeat fine and I check her neck, I wanted to see if his mark was still there. It was fading before my eyes and I hear Matthew gasp next to me.“Their marks, they are fading” he breathes a sigh of relief. He couldn’t believe it, he looked all over Alice’s legs and feet just in case he had missed it but just like Charlie’s, hers was gone and so was Eva’s.“Why are they not moving?” I try not to sound franticHe shakes his head at me “I don’t know,
Everyone was oddly calm including Charlie. Everyone except myself.Charlie had just told us the news we had been waiting for and i could not understand how everyone was so calm.Could Zach have known this was going to happen? Could he have planned for Charlie and her sisters to all be in place? It seemed impossible and yet possible at the same time. Zach had kept many secrets from everyone, and they were slowly unravelling but on his terms and we needed to change that.“I will meet him” Matthew suggests, and I shake my head. The last thing we needed Zach knowing is that we had the first hybrid in existence in my pack.“No, I will wait in the forest for him. I need you to watch over Charlie”He frowns at me, telling me that it was too risky for me to go out there in my state. With Jett back I was feeling stronger than ever. I may not look it, but I felt great.“It should be me” Charlie pipes up from
A couple of days had passed, and Charlie trained with Matthew every second she could, even when he told her to rest, she wouldn’t, or she couldn’t sit still. She was determined to succeed. He trained her mentally and physically but would not tell me what was involved. She had accepted her role as mine and the packs Luna, it was the only way for everyone to communicate with her, particularly Matthew and she needed all the help he could offer. Her sisters had not restored her hearing or sight yet because they needed to be certain that Charlie could hold the block and at the moment it was Jett and me. Her skills were growing massively but her mind still felt weak.Charlie was now able to move through the forest alone and without making a single sound, her feet touching the ground in silence as she moved. It was like she had tuned into nature, she even made it from the pack house to the training area alone yesterday and that is not an easy walk. Matthew
“It is not going to be easy”Matthew tries to warn me, but I had already thought about that and tell him just as much“And I am not even sure that it is possible for a wolf to do succeed in what I have achieved with Alice”Again, I nod my head, I understood what he was trying to say to me. It was his way of explaining that it might fail but if I do not try then we will never know.“You will get one option Alpha Max. You have to get into her head quicker than him, almost barricade her mind from his”“When and how?”“When she starts waking. At the moment she is unconscious. He can’t get in her mind whilst she is out of it, the wolfsbane in her system is too strong. The moment she starts waking will be your chance and your only chance. It will take all of your energy Alpha and if it fails, there will be no second chance!”We watch Charlie and her body does not move except
Hey everyone, I hope you are all well and I want to thank you so much for reading up until now, I really appreciate it and it keeps me motivated to write. However I just wanted to let you all know that I will be taking a few days off due to unforeseen personal problems but I promise not to keep you all waiting to long, the end is near and I hope you will all be happy with how the story ends after all the sadness that Max and Charlie have suffered. Take care and I will try and get back as soon as possible x Taylor West
I just sit and watch her. Pain is etched on Charlie’s face as she fights to keep the block up. People come and go, mostly to speak to me or Anna but I wasn’t interested. I just wanted to find a way to help Charlie break from his grasp on her.Matthew comes to find me at one point, but he frowns when he sees Charlie “What is she doing?”“She is blocking Zach”He stands by me and watches her like I do“Why are you here Matthew?”“I did come to speak to you, but now I am interested in why she is suddenly able to block him”“Alexander spurred her on”“Your deceased brother?”“That’s the one”Matthew does not speak he just nods his head with a surprised look on his face.“What did you want to speak to me about?”“I would like to offer my services”“You are already helping&rdq
She walks silently alongside me her fingers laced with my own. She doesn’t stumble or trip in the forest like she knows where she is going, but her fear was unmistakable. It exuded from her and even when I ask her she just tells me that everything is fine, but it wasn’t. Not only could I sense it coming from her, but I also felt her fear too and it wasn’t me that she was afraid of.I find myself stood in front of the packhouse, not the place I was expecting to be and I must have stopped abruptly because Charlie asks me what’s happening.“We are at the pack house?!”I wasn’t questioning Charlie, I was questioning myself, I thought we were further away than this and closer to the hospital.Charlie frowns at me “They built you a new packhouse?”“They did”She reaches her hand out and I guide her forward a little. As she holds her hand against the door she smiles but doesn’t
