Charlie’s heart rate flickering all over the place. I wondered if she knew that Zach was helping her or maybe she thought she was having a heart attack.
Stumbling over the rubble towards them, they continue to remain motionless other than stare at each other. As I move closer I can see Zachs lips moving, like he was muttering or even chanting something.
“What’s happening?” I ask Zach and he holds a hand up to me, keeping his eyes trained on Charlie.
He was speaking a language I had not heard before, the sounds and words rolling into each other. He does not blink, he does not break eye contact, he was trying to keep Charlie alive and yet her own body was fighting it.

I didn’t know if she could hear me and I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her from the situation.
