My mate's ex

PETE'S POV

The day is already getting dark, the only sound that I could hear is the whistle of the birds. My mind wasn't settled because of the rogues, they might attack me. 

My concern wasn't them attacking me, because I will definitely show them the reason I am a strong warrior. But, for the fact that I don't want anything to distract me, I wouldn't want them to attack me. 

I have been in this bush since morning, immediately my wolf started healing my wounds, I rushed out. Even though I was weak, I still heard when Selena said the babies were missing. I ran after her, thinking she ran after the kidnappers, but I haven't seen anything that looks like her. 

Since I already got to the boundary between us and the other pack, I returned, because they are our biggest rival. 

"What if Selena has been kidnapped too?" As that question popped up in my head, I ran home immediately to dress up in my war attire. I am ready and willing to fight anyone and bring back the only woman I want to love forever, even with those kids that have brought nothing but blessing to me. The moon goddess really sends them.

As I got home panting as a result of the long run, I was greeted by the frowned faces of my sister and the pack doctor. 

"What is happening here?" I asked as I slowly moved closer to them. 

"She is in the hospital all because of you." My sister said with tears in her eyes. The love she has for Selena will make one think Selena is her twins or mother. 

"I caused what? I don't understand this, please say something to me." I faced the doctor, since my sister wouldn't want to say anything to me. 

"Her blood pressure was so high that we almost lost her. But, with the help of alpha Tyler, we were able to calm the blood pressure down with what he gave to her. 

"Alpha Tyler?" I confusingly asked as I turned to my sister. 

"Yes!" My sister answered and let out a heavy sigh.

"Susan, can you calm down and talk to me?" I urged my sister to behave herself, which she did. 

"The alpha Tyler that you know." Susan said, and I was confused and surprised at the same time. 

"How did he get yo this pack?" 

"How else will he do that? When you left Selena to carry her cross, she ran to a helping hand." My sister continued blaming me without hearing from me. As she speaks, tears won't allow her to properly finish what she wants to say. 

The doctor hugged her and tried to console her. I was confused and at the same time blamed myself for not being there for her when she needed me. I know Selena's triplets got missing because of my stubborn head. 

"How do I win Selena's heart back again?" I rhetorically asked myself in my mind. 

"Why did you go away?" The doctor asked.

"We can start talking about that later, please. I have to be with my mate now." I said to them and stepped outside without changing my tattered dress. Susan and the doctor followed me up.

As I got to the hospital, the space looked different because of Tyler's men that were everywhere around the hospital. 

I turned back and asked my sister, "what is the meaning of this? Is he here to oppress or fight a war?" 

"Of course, yes! That's how a real man protects the woman he loves." Susan gave a very stupid and annoying reply. 

"Are you on my side or is there something you have to make me understand?" I dragged her closer to myself. 

"You know I will always support you, but not when you are getting it wrong." 

I left her and tried moving inside before Tyler's men stopped me. 

"What is the meaning of this?" I angrily asked. "In my own pack?" 

"No one is allowed to go in there except these two ladies." One of them said with his voice like that of an angry lion. 

I scaled him from head to toe, I couldn't take the embarrassment, but it wasn't time to start war. 

"Calm down, please." The doctor said and stepped forward, then continued; "Let him in, he is Selena's mate." She said to them. 

"Oh! We were ordered to give you a very serious flogging for almost causing the death of Selena." One of the men said, I sighed and smiled. 

"Maybe he also forgot to tell you who I am." As I responded, they started moving closer to me. 

"Hey, you should step back, here is not a wrestling ground." The doctor said and pleaded with them to stop, so that I can go in and be with my woman. 

They excused me, I ran in with speed, not even knowing the right room which my sis directed me. 

As I entered, Selena was laying on the bed lifeless, Tyler's hand was on her hair. I was pissed at the sight of that. How could he do that when it's not even his right to be there. As I got to the bed, I couldn't sit down because my mind wasn't at peace. 

"Can't her wolf heal her?" I questioned the doctor, who didn't reply as Tyler laughed like an unmannered fool. 

"This is a different case, man!" Tyler said, his voice deep and threatening, but I wasn't afraid. All I wanted was how my Selena would wake up. 

"Doctor, what is her condition like?" I fearfully asked her why she couldn't even open her mouth to say something. 

I became more nervous, what if she couldn't survive this? I would never forgive myself for everything that just happened. 

"What about the babies?" I questioned everyone in the room, but no one said anything. 

"Susan, you have been quiet ever since we entered this room." I tried to make her say something, but she was focused on Tyler. 

"The babies are yet to be found. I have deployed my men to search all round for the kidnapper." Tyler said, I was a bit relieved before my sister started screaming. "Doctors!!! Doctor!!! Doctor!!!"
