Alpha Axton's POV

"Alpha, I think we should go back now. We've come a long way and haven't even found any herb that can be useful, let alone a healer." Dane suggests tiredly, but I ignore him. He is speaking that way because he's tired I'm sure. The responsibilities of running a normal Pack are high, let alone a Pack of Misfits, where we all don't have a wolf.

I know I have a lot to do to protect my Pack members from rouges attack. I'm trying here, but I guess I'm not just trying enough. I had gone on a trip for days and came back to meet half of my security men on their sick beds, been attacked by rogues while I was away. Now I have to get herbs or they die which I wouldn't forgive myself if this happens.

"Alpha, are you paying attention at all? You've been hurt too by that animal we met hours ago. We need to take care of your wounds. I'll advise we go back to the Pack and allow healer Ryda. He can..."

"Enough!" I halt him, raising my rolled fist for effect. "I don't want to hear that name ever again. I'd rather die than get help from him."

"What of other watchmen? Would they die too?"

"Say one more word and I'll slit your throat." I clench my fist in anger. Healer Ryda has always been jealous of the fact that I am the Alpha of the Misfit Town. We were best of friends back then in our previous Pack. We left the Pack when the shame of not having a wolf would not let us stay; we got some allies who had the same predicament as ours and formed the town, Misfit.

It's not my fault he isn't as strong as I am. He only heals and it's just normal I become the Alpha since I'm the most powerful. He's never happy with me being the Alpha. Who knows if he's the mastermind behind the rogue attacks? I'll get to the bottom of this. And if he truly knows something about it, he'll pay dearly for putting us in danger.

"Aaaaahhhh," I hear someone screaming as if falling off a cliff. "Did you hear that?" I call Dane's attention, but he seems far away even though he's walking beside me. I don't blame him, we've been walking for some days now, looking for healing herbs for the wounded warriors. I had the knowledge of leaves Ryda uses since when we were friends. Lupine Balm root, Phoenix Leaf, and Moon shade Leaves are all we need.

"Right now Alpha, I'm so damn tired that I can't even hear a fly's buzzing."

The sounds are getting closer and I run off to know the source, praying in my mind to Selene that it's not one of the Misfits being hurt. I guess I'm too late. A fat lady, whom I believe is a wolf, and a little human boy are lying lifeless on a rock. They must have fallen from the hill.

"Hurry here, Dane! I need help!" Dane is still behind, forcing his almost stiff legs to meet up with me, but I guess he hears the urgency in my tone and in no time, he's here. "Let's help them to the town. I guess they fell from the hill." I instruct Dane, already lifting the fat lady, carrying her bride-like to the location where our car is packed.

Talia's POV

My head hurts, my back hurts too and everything seems blurry, but even with my blurry views, I can see some figures moving around. "Where am I?" I mutter, trying to figure out what brings me into a room which looks more like a hospital.

I look up to scan the room, and I can see some other injured people lying, some conscious and some unconscious, on their beds. Then suddenly my mind drifts to the incident earlier. "Oh my goodness! Where's George?" I try to stand up, but two guys rush to my side to stop me.

"Relax, ma'am, you're not strong enough for that now." One of them informs, helping me back to the bed.

"George? Is that his name? The boy we saw you with earlier?" The other one questions.

"Yes, that's his name. Is he ok?"

"He's fine, and he's presently taking treatment too. Just relax, the Alpha and the healer will be here soon." He assures and leaves while still speaking.

Two men walks towards me and I figure they are the aforementioned. The Alpha and the healer. Repeating those names and seeing some other patients here gives me the clarity that I'm in wolf's territory. Talia, here you are again. I sigh, as the realization sinks in.

"Miss, how are you feeling?" One of the men, who I think is the Alpha asks.

"Feeling better, but my head and back still hurts,"

"It's a gradual process; the herbs will gradually fix your system, and in no time, you'll return to your normal self." He says, moving towards the other patients to check on them.

"Is that the Alpha?" I ask the second man, standing next to my bed.

"That will be me. Is there any reason why you seek to know the Alpha?" He questions, smirking and winking his eye at me. What a playful Alpha. I thought.

"Did you bring me here?" I ask again, trying to know my helper so I can at least thank him. He doesn't talk, he just nods.

"Oh," I speak lazily. "Thanks for saving me and my..." I look around the room, trying to figure out where George is, and I think he gets the message.

"Oh, the little boy? He's right there in the next room, resting. Thank Goddess you both didn't sustain any major injury. It's like you're made of iron." He laughs.

"I just want you to know how grateful I am for your help," I conclude, trying to get up to sit upright on the bed, but he advises against it, putting me back gently.

"They're here!!!" I hear someone shouting from outside the healing house.

With his help, I was able to get a loving human family to adopt George so they could give him the good things he deserves in life.Today, I'm being discharged from the hospital, now going to the hotel Alpha Axton prepared for me. I'm still thinking, still trying to figure out if this is the Misfit Town George talked about. I look outside through the car window, enjoying the ride and admiring the beauty of this town. Their houses are made from twisted wood and glowing stones, and the streets are lined with flowers that emit soft, calming light. But despite the beauty of the town, I can feel the mysterious looks of the inhabitants as I meet some people's gaze through their windows."Here we are, ma'am," the driver announces, opening the door for me to alight. I'm tempted to let my guard down, but I brace again, holding the log with my two hands on high alert in case it's not any of them. "Aaarrrrr!!!" We both are screaming, I close my eyes, lifting the log so high that it falls back behind me due to its heaviness.
