Chapter Eighteen

The idea of me having a wolf was strange and oddly exciting, a wolf that my father had kept at bay for the last seven years and I wondered how he did it. Max told me that I was being drugged but how, I barely ate, I made my own drinks, my bedroom door was always locked at night so how had he done it.
“Can you take me to see him?” I knew I was pushing my luck but had to ask
Max stared at me, I knew he was weighing up his options “Tomorrow, you need to rest right now, you had a big operation”
I sigh, I knew I was pushing it but I had questions I needed to ask my father “Okay” I agree with Max, I will rest “How long have I been in hospital?”
“Two days” I nod, trying to figure out what day it is, just like he knew what I was thinking “It’s Thursday”

Charlie’s POVThere was very little I could do as he dragged me from my hospital bed, his hand pressed tightly over my mouth, muffling my screams as I tried to fight and get away, he stabbed me in the shoulder with something leaving me in an incredible amount of pain, my body automatically goes limp and no matter how hard I fight it, he flings my unresponsive body over his shoulder and flees the hospital as my eyes drift close.When they eventually open again, they could barely make out anything in the darkness. My mouth was gagged and my broken arm had been bent around my back and bound to my other hand, leaving a shooting pain travelling up my entire arm. Max’s POVIt was obvious Damon had no clue that we already knew about Charlie’s status, what we couldn’t figure out was why he was poisoning her for so long and waited until days before her eighteenth to almost kill her.Alexander was getting frustrated, he could not always read between the lines and would quite often jump to conclusions.Anyway it was time to focus on this woman, what did she know about Charlie. As we descend the second staircase, I try to ignore the smell, I understood why father left it this way because it did bring our captives to tears, most just wanted to escape the smell and would eventually cave.The woman was already screaming and shouting about how it was a disgrace that she had been left in these conditions, how she wanted to speak to whoever was in charge and that she would co-operate as long as she could leave her cell.Again we trade places with the guard who left in a hurry, much like the first one.

Alexander’s POVI was more than fuming, I cannot believe she broke my nose, more importantly I could not believe how she broke it. Max’s POVIt was a horrible feeling, having to drug Charlie but it was the only thing that I could think of to stop her making everything explode. As soon as she is asleep everything stops, no exploding lights, no doors rattling or furniture moving and i breathe a sigh of relief.She looked troubled whilst she was sleeping and my mothers words replayed over and over ‘She has been given a gift by the Moon Goddess herself’. Thank you so much for reading everyone, I really appreciate it and would be grateful for any reviews or feedback. I have really enjoyed writing this book and loved every moment of it, but the story is far from over and book two will be coming out soon following Charlie’s quest in finding her hybrid mother and discovering what happens with Alpha Zach as well as what it means to be Queen of the Lycans. Does Charlie find her way back to Max or does she choose Alpha Zach? Will Max stand by his vow? Only time will tell.

Max’s POVDamon’s pack had retreated, many had lost their lives from both packs and as the survivors helped the worst wounded, I started to look for Charlie. She was nowhere to be seen along with Alpha Zach, some of the guards inform me that she went inside the packhouse.Entering the house, there was a lot of commotion and I follow the sound to the bedroom Kiwi was being locked in. Charlie’s POV The fight continues and yet I still have not seen my father, he would be easy to spot as he looks exactly like me. The Lycans were mostly dark colours when shifted and were easy to spot, a little difficult to figure out who was fighting who but my father was definitely not among them which made me anxious. Charlie’s POVI couldn’t think, I couldn’t eat and I barely slept.
