The three women settled into the back seat, while Yosef rode shotgun.

Zara had no other option but to cancel her ride.

Beatrice had offered them a lift, and they had actually taken her up on it, leaving her feeling super awkward.

She was just trying to flaunt her status, sure that Zara would not accept the ride. That plan totally backfired.

Still, she felt a twinge of pride knowing that Yosef had invited Zara into the car at her behest.

The car hummed to life and started moving.

Beatrice's mind wandered back to the bond Zara and Yosef shared over the years. She could not resist a quick glance in the rearview mirror. Yosef, riding shotgun, had shut his eyes and was pretending to be asleep.

He was clearly not in the mood to deal with anyone. Beatrice let out a quiet sigh of relief.

Silence filled the car. Nobody was talking. Cecil, however, could not keep it in any longer.
