Kathrine's POV

"Kathrine," He spoke, his voice sounding gentle.

My throat dried out and I found it difficult to breathe. I still pressed my face deeper between my knees.

"Look up at me," He purred more gently.

That wouldn't work. I will not allow him to manipulate me.

I've never trusted anyone beside Beverly in my life. And Hugo and Claud. Maybe I trusted my brothers a little bit, too. But at this moment, it wasn't them asking me to let my guard down.

I jerked away as I felt fingers touching my hand. I moved more into the bed and palmed my face.

"Feto is here. He will examine your wounds and give you meds." Fury pooled in my belly.

I lifted my head and met his soft gaze with dark glares. Sobbing bleakly, I attempted to move away because he was kneeling dangerously close to me.

"Let him see yo—"

"I am fine." I said, and instantly regretted for my voice sounded weak and helpless. Like a cry of a fawn.
