"Do you know Charles?" Ralph's mother interrupted and Vivian's entire body got sweaty immediately.
She trembled slightly as she couldn't look at the woman in the face. How does she begin to explain? It doesn't make sense. Is she supposed to start telling them how Charles is her Ex - husband and how she married his brother again, Ralph?
It seems like she is a leech in their family. This is totally absurd. Immediately, she knew she couldn't stay there. She didn't think she could do this anymore. She never should have come here in the first place.
Vivian Jaws tightened as she pushed the dining chair backwards and wanted to stand up. Ralph's hand fell on her thighs. His face was expressionless as she glanced at him. What is he doing? No, he isn't trying to stop her because they both know this wouldn't work out.
All she has to do is walk away from all these. She has no choice, she will have to work away from both of them, away from her problems and her plans. She has to forget about her revenge. Maybe a nice furnished apartment and a decent job will do. She should try to live my life to the fullest.
"Vivian is Charles's ex - wife and now, she is my wife." Ralph declared.
She stared at him dumbstruck. What is he doing? She means, what did he just say? Goodness! If it was possible, she just wanted to scramble away from this place.
"What?" Bella shrieked in horror as she stared at me like she was a homewrecker. Well, is she not? She got married to two brothers, only that she divorced one to marry another.
"What is the meaning of this?" William said gruffly, "Wife to my sons? This is utmost nonsense!" He shouted.
Ralph scoffed, "Don't act like you don't know, father."
Her lips were sealed. She didn't know what to say. But she was concerned about what he was doing. Moreover, she was confused about what he was talking about.
"You knew about this?" Bella's attention snapped back to her husband. "You knew and you never told me?" Her anger was now directed at Williams.
Ralph scoffed, "Oh, don't pretend like you care too." He said.
Vivian's lips parted as she watched the drama unfold in front of her. What does her husband mean? Is Bella's outburst just a pretense too? She doesn't think she can understand what is happening.
"No, I -- I didn't know all these things happened." Bella stuttered, her gaze lingering softly on Ralph who looked unbothered by what they were doing.
Bella turned back to Charles, "Charles, is this true?" She fired.
Charles, who has been concentrating on his food in a weird way ever since, looked up and shrugged. "Yes, she is my ex- wife. She betrayed me and here we are." He answered nonchalantly.
Vivian scoffed silently. Did she just hear him say that? Who betrayed who? He betrayed her and yet, he is portraying the good in front of his parents?
"How did that woman come into the picture almost immediately then?" Ralph asked, leaning back to his dining chair.
All eyes turned to Franca. She gripped on her fork tightly as she looked around nervously. It seems she didn't expect that question to be directed towards her.
"I married her just like you married my ex." Charles replied.
Then, the attention switched again, back to Vivian. She readjusted her sitting position awkwardly. Ralph's hands remained on her thighs.
"It doesn't matter anymore, does it? The important thing is that we both have who we love now." Ralph said with a smile. He turned my face softly to himself and kissed me, "Right, honey?"
Vivian was surprised. Why is Ralph so naughty? No, he isn't. It is just a facade. That is what she used to remind herself and slap herself back to normal. Everything is just a facade in front of his family.
They are not in love. It is a contract. Everything is a facade.
"I didn't know you already fell in love with my brother so quickly." Charles said, referring to Vivian. "On a regular day, you are a slut." He said irritably.
Vivian glared at him in anger. What does he mean? How dare he call her a slut? If anything, he is the one who refused to be faithful to his wife. He is the one who couldn't keep his tiny dick into his pants and had to get someone pregnant.
"I'm guessing you are referring to the mistress beside you and not my wife. She is a virgin, remember?" Ralph said with a small smile.
The smile on Charles's face seeing how he taunted his ex - wife wiped off immediately. "How did you know she is a virgin?" He asked angrily.
Vivian agreed on his supposed question this time around. How does Ralph know she is a virgin? No, how is that possible? They have only shared a kiss twice, in the party earlier and at the dining table. Just twice! He hasn't even gotten to detaching her clothes.
"How did you know?" Vivian whispered, staring at him. Where did she find this man? How come he knows these things in the space of a day?
Ralph chuckled, his attention fully on his younger brother. "Come on, she is as pure as a fluorescent light. Don't underestimate my wife. She is here to stay with me, as my wife and the mother of my children."
Charles's eyes burned with anger. Vivian couldn't help but smile. Ralph just helped her with his words. Those words might not be true, but it means a lot to see him stand up for her in front of his parents.
"That's enough. Let's eat." William said, pulling everyone's attention back to the table but Ralph's and Charles's eyes never left each other.
Vivian felt like she was the curse of them fighting right now. She has no idea if they had always hated each other before but tonight, it looked like they weren't going to be on friendly terms for a long time.
"No, we are not hungry anymore." Ralph said, helping Vivian to stand up. She was confused because why would her new husband say that when her stomach would soon growl out of hunger? Besides, the dishes on the table looked really appetising to dig in immediately.
"What? Why? Please, eat." Bella tried to make us stay but it seems Ralph won't change his mind. Vivian folded her lips in frustration. What is she going to eat now?
Ralph held my hand and began to walk down the hallway. Vivian glanced around. There are rooms at each side of the hallway. She wanted to remove her hands from Ralph's but he refused to let her go.
A frown appeared on her face as she wondered why he was being possessive all of a sudden. "Seriously, Vivian? I expected more from you." Charles said, stopping our movement.
Vivian’s heart raced as she approached the building for the first time. She had always imagined visiting him here, and today would bring her imagination to reality. She brushed her hands down her dress, straightening it, trying to calm the nervousness she was feeling. But the moment she stepped through the doors, her excitement turned sour. Faces turned toward her, eyebrows furrowed, searching her whole being like she was some alien.Vivian approached the front desk with her head held high. “I’m here to see Mr. Norman. I’m his wife,” she said. The receptionist looked her up and down and replied without a second thought. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you don’t have an appointment.”“But I’m his wife,” Vivian repeated, her voice hinting desperation. “I don’t need an appointment to see my husband.”The receptionist’s eyes were on her. “I’m sorry, but Mr. Norman is very busy. You will have to come back another time.”Vivian clenched her fists, feeling her cheeks burn as several nearby employee
Charles leaned back in his chair, a smile stretching across his face as he looked her up and down with contempt. “Your fair share?” he sneered. “What exactly do you think you’re worth, Vivian? You’re nothing. You contributed nothing to this company or my life. Whatever you think you’re owed, you’re mistaken.”Vivian clenched her fists, feeling the state of humiliation and rage surge in her chest. She had had enough of his insults. He had begged her to help him out, but now, he pretended like he did not even recall. He was supposed to be her husband; the man she had given up her dreams and opportunities for, the man she had stood by, believing in him when he was at his lowest. And now he was discarding her like she was worthless and a piece of garbage.“Nothing, huh?” she shot back, her voice shaking. “Well, remember this moment, Charles. I gave up my dreams and contributed to the growth of this company. Just bear it in mind that I will make you regret it.”"What company are you talk
Vivian adjusted her uniform, hoping it looked presentable as she began her shift at the bar. It was not the life she had imagined for herself, but she needed the money. She was in a new city, with no one to lean on, and she was determined to make it on her own, no matter how exhausting it felt. But that night, she was really tired. Her head felt fuzzy, and she kept acting clumsy. By the time her shift ended, she was more than exhausted. She pushed through the back door, stepping into the cold night and making her way home.Suddenly, the blinding headlights of a car came out of nowhere, and before she could react, she felt a sharp pain and she collapsed on the ground.***When Vivian opened her eyes, the white ceiling and walls of the hospital room greeted her. Her body ached all over. She blinked, trying to focus, her mind struggling to process what had happened. The door opened, and a doctor walked in, wearing a smile. “Miss, it’s good to see you’re awake.”She tried to sit up, wi
Vivian sat alone in her apartment, her hands shaking as she stared down at the business card Ralph had given her, his name printed boldly across it.She had come here to escape the mess of her past, to start fresh and carve out her own life without anyone’s help or pity. But here she was—jobless, pregnant, and uncertain of what the future held. She decided to continue her life and pretend that nothing happened. As she was working, a customer crossed the line, grabbing her arm and pulling her close. Angrily, she yanked her arm free and slapped him hard across the face. "How dare you humiliate a customer? Do you know who he is?" Her boss yelled at her."Sir, you saw—""You are fired!" ***Taking a deep breath, she picked up her phone and dialed Ralph’s number. He answered almost immediately as if he had been expecting her call.“Vivian,” he greeted. “I take it you’ve made a decision?”She closed her eyes and sighed. “Yes. Let’s meet. I want to discuss the contract.”When she arrived
“Well, well, look who decided to show her face,” he sneered, trying to cut in. “I didn’t think they let just anyone in here.”Vivian’s jaw tightened. His words stung, but she forced herself to hold herself up high, meeting his gaze with composure. “Charles,” she said smoothly, “anyone can get in here, you know?"He smirked, crossing his arms. “What is a nobody like you doing here? Thought you would be hiding in some apartment by now.” His gaze drifted over her dress, looking as if he were searching for some flaw to point out. “Or did you hitch a ride with someone you found at the bottom of the barrel just like I did?”She had expected insults, so she came prepared. “Actually, I was invited. And you’d be surprised, Charles, how much the world has to offer once you get rid of rotten meat.”His smirk faded, a flash of irritation passing over his face. He had not anticipated her quick retort, and she took satisfaction in the faint look of surprise in his eyes.He scoffed, but there was a
An unsure look crossed Vivian's facial features as she stared back at those waiting for her response. Ralph just mopped out a chance for her to get a slice of her revenge against her ex - husband.
