Chapter 3

Cassandra Lei’s POV

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. It’s 7 in the morning. Ugh! I need more sleep. I turned the alarm off and got up.

There’s a lot of things that happened yesterday. I still can’t believe it, my heart is still feeling heavy.

I was just having the best night of my life the other day and then boom! My happiness disappeared in a second.

I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes are swollen from crying hard last night. I’m still pretty though.

I did my morning routine. I took a shower and then I prepared my breakfast. While eating, I checked my phone. There are 10 missed calls from my manager Hanna and 15 missed calls from Trevor. I also received a text from my mom and dad who are living abroad, asking if I am okay.

I know that Hanna’s calls are way more important so I decided to call her back. Fortunately, she immediately picked up.

“Hello Hanna”

I greeted her.

“Cassy! I know you are not okay now but the Agency called, and they told me that we should have a meeting today at 10 in the morning. Hurry up and fix yourself. I’m picking you up, I’ll be there in 15 minutes.”

I can hear the nervousness in her voice. I’m feeling a heaviness in my chest. I hope it's not bad news. Are they going to terminate my contract? I hope not.

Hanna has arrived and we immediately drive to the agency's building. While inside the car, I texted Trevor and told him that I’m having a meeting with my agency today. I also replied to the message of my mom, saying that they should not worry about me. My parents are living in the United States and I am living here in the Philippines alone.

We arrived at the meeting hall and I got nervous to see our boss sitting in the front. The department heads are also present.

“Good morning Mr. President”

I greeted him with a nervous smile. He just looked at me and told me to take a seat.

“You have caused a very big mess Ms. Tan”

He began his speech ,and I’m getting nervous about whatever he has to say next.

“You are one of our biggest talents here! but you messed up everything!”

I know I messed up, but does he need to say it on my face now?

“Sir, can you let me explain first? You are concluding things so fast!”

I replied in annoyance. He looked at me in shock because I talked back to him.

“Okay! Let us hear your explanation”

He said. I began to explain everything to them.

“If what you are saying is true, then we are going to release a statement to the media that you are innocent”

Maybe he is starting to believe me now. I explained everything in detail. I told them that I will get the drug test result tomorrow.

“Ms. Tan, even though you are innocent, the scandal has affected your image as an actress”

He continued to talk. I know because until now people are still talking about the issue.

“I know you have already been chosen as the Lead Actress for the ~My Angel Lover~ Movie, but I’m sad to tell you that the producers and directors of the said movie don't want you anymore. They drop you from the casting and they chose Bernadette as your replacement”

Why did the world turn into darkness when I heard those words? What? Is this a joke? No fucking way!

“Sir! This is so unfair! I did my best to get that role and they will just give it to Bernadette? Just like that?”

I argue with him. I am so angry now! These people are so unbelievable.

“I’m sorry Ms. Tan, but I can't do anything about it”

He replied. Bernadette and I are in the same agency. I guess she's the new favorite now huh!

“We will make sure to get you more projects in the future. You still have a 2 year contract with us. For now, I suggest that you should take a rest for a while until the scandal dies”

Oh yeah! My contract will end after 2 years, I don't think they will renew me again after that. This agency always wants clean image artists and I just messed it up.

The meeting was over. I got out of the meeting room and I met Bernadette in the hallway. She walks toward me.

“Cassandra my dear, are you okay?”

She asked me with a concerned look on her face. I don't know if she's just acting or not.

“I’m okay! Well congratulations on getting the role which is supposed to be mine”

I told her with a cold expression on my face. I'm not in the mood to be friendly today.

“Thanks but, I did not steal it from you, Cassandra. The producers chose me this time”

She explained. Damn it! She’s acting like a victim.

“Did I say that you stole it from me? I never did right? But are you guilty?”

I asked and looked at her suspiciously.

“No! What’s wrong with you Cassandra? Are you mad that I got the role? Well I’m sorry! It not in my control! ”

She said and walked out on me! Damn! The nerve of that girl! I’m starting to hate her now.

“Cassy!”

Hanna called me from behind. I turned around and looked at her.

“Hey! Where have you been?”

I asked her because she disappeared on my sight earlier.

“I received a call from the companies of the brands that you were endorsing, they canceled everything. They don't want you to endorse their products anymore”

My world turned dark again after hearing those words from Hanna's mouth. My career is over. Everyone is canceling me. A good reputation is really important for an actor, but I’m doomed. What am I going to do now?

“Hanna!”

I called her name. She came closer to me and hugged me. I started to cry because I feel like everything is so unfair.

“It’s okay Cassy! Everything will be okay”
