Chapter 1

Cassandra Lei’s POV

“Happy 24th birthday Cassandra Lei!”

My friends greeted me in sync as they came closer to me. Hanna, my best friend at the same time as my manager, is holding a cake with a candle on it. Oh my gosh! I am so surprised.

I went home from work and when I arrived at my condo, I saw many people including my friends and some co-workers. They are inside my house.

I remember that only my best friend Hanna knows the password to my door. I trust her so much to the extent that she can come anytime she wants to my home. They threw me a surprise party and I am so touched.

“Awe! You guys are so sweet!”

I said with genuine happiness. I blew out the candle and they sing me a happy birthday.

We partied the whole night and everyone was very happy.

Some guests are drinking hard, others are dancing on the floor and the couples here are making out. This surprise party was very awesome.

I sit on my couch and my co-actress named Bernadette went to sit beside me. We are friends but we're not that close, nothing like my relationship with my best friend Hanna.

Speaking of her, I see her flirting with my co-actor James on the side. She invited him here huh!

“Hey, Cass! Happy birthday and congratulations for winning the best actress award last night”

Bernadette greeted me with a smile on her face. She is a nice girl. We grew up together in the entertainment industry. I’ve been in a competition with her for the best actress awards this past few years and I defeated her. She is a good actress but I know that my skills are better than her. My judgement is very accurate.

“Thank you! Bernadette”

I replied. We talked about work and some other stuff. I think I’m a little drunk now because I’m drinking a lot of alcoholic drinks tonight.

“Ammm Cassy, would you mind if I asked you something very personal?”

Bernadette asked me. I wonder what she would ask me.

“Sure! You can ask me anything”

I replied as I smiled at her. Sometimes I can sense something about Bernadette. She's quite mysterious.

“What is your relationship with Trevor Hemsworth? Because I can see that the two of you are very close to each other”

Oh! So this is all about Trevor? Maybe she’s interested in him, that's why she’s asking me these things.

“Oh no! Trevor is just my close friend.”

I answered her. As I can see on her facial expression, I think she’s not convinced with my answer.

“Just a friend? With all that sweetness between the two of you? You’re telling me that you guys are just friends?”

Oh no! Her tone is kinda different this time. I can’t describe how her face looks just now. I’m a little drunk.

“Yeah! Trevor’s sweetness is just natural, and not only to me, he’s also sweet to his other friends”

I explained.

“Then why doesn’t he act like that with me? Him and I are also friends! Well I guess he acts different when he’s with you”

She said, Now I can recognize jealousy in her voice. Damn it’s so obvious that she likes him.

“Wait, do you have a thing with Trevor?”

I asked her curiously. She was stunned by my question.

I can see Hanna making her way towards us and she interrupted my conversation with Bernadette. Wait! She did not answer my question yet! Hanna grabbed my hand and took me to the dance floor. She has installed this disco light in my living room. We danced to the music and enjoyed the party.

My head hurts when I wake up in the morning. Damn! My home looks like trash. I cannot see anyone here anymore except my best Hanna who is sleeping so soundly on my couch.

“Hanna! Wake up! Help me clean the house! You made this mess remember?”

I shake her body to wake her up. She slowly opened her eyes and growled.

“Just 5 more minutes Cassy please!”

She said, I didn’t give her the chance to get 5 minutes more sleep. I grabbed her shoulder and got her out of my couch.

She has no choice but to wake up.

Last night was a blast. I hope everyone enjoyed my party. Hanna and I started to clean my house.

As I was cleaning my bed, I saw something strange.

I saw a white powder in a small transparent plastic bag under my pillow. What is it? I heard my doorbell rang, and I immediately hid that little thing in my pocket.

“Hello gentlemen, what can we do for you?”

Hanna said as she opened the door.

Two police officers are standing outside. She let them in and as soon as they entered my house, their eyes roamed around.

“Miss Cassandra Lei Tan, someone reported to us that you are an illegal drug user. We have here a warrant of arrest for you”

I am so shocked. Am I hearing things right? What the hell is he talking about?

“Excuse me? Are you sure you are in the right place?”

I asked in annoyance. This is crazy!

“Yes, ma’am we are 100% sure. You are Ms. Cassandra Lei Tan, right?”

The police officer said while looking at me as if he was sure that I was guilty. I hate the way he looks at me.

“Well yes, but no sir! I am not a drug addict. I have never used any illegal drugs before”

I defended myself. What the fuck is going on here? This is shit!

The police officers started to search my house. They have found something in my drawers. It's something that looks exactly like the thing that I placed inside my pocket earlier.

So this thing is an illegal drug? What the fuck? I don't even know where it came from.

“Come with us to the Police Station for some questions”

The police officer said and they grabbed my shoulder.

“Don’t touch me!”

I said as I removed his hand from my arm. I have no choice but to come with them. Hanna joined me and I started to question my mind.

Only my best friend Hanna has access to my house. But I know in my heart that she will not do something like this, especially to me.
