Darlington Briggs:

"Mom.." I breathed out in relief that Amara was nowhere in sight. I turned to my mother and replied, "Mom, you remember that you don't want me to get a house of my own or move out of here, except I have a child or two children, so I had to hide it from you."

I moved away from the stairs to take a seat on the living room couch as I was tired, while my mother also went up to sit on one of the black couches across from me.

"You didn't have to tell me lies, Darlington. I do not like that," my mother complained.

My mother's eyes blazed red, and she looked at me and rebuked me, "Do not say that. You cannot fall in love with Amara. In short, since you have already acquired a new home, I think it will help you to keep your distance from Amara. You will move over to the new house to stay there until your father returns."
