Leslie
I was getting into something I wasn’t prepared for but what could I say? I was broke and my mum needed saving. The woman before me looked so familiar and I tried to picture where I had seen her but I couldn’t. However, her comment about me got me on the edge. “A whore?” “Leslie, let’s leave,” Alex said and I was stunned for a few seconds. He called me by my name? He had just said the reason for not calling me that a few seconds again, and though I did not agree with his reasons, I still felt shocked hearing it slip off his tongue. He glared at the lady before hand-searching for my hand without taking his eyes off the lady. As he held my wrist, I shivered a bit against the contact. I stared down at our hands and so did the lady. “Who is this, Alex?” Her voice was deep, like a lady filled with testosterone, with an average face with a beauty mark at the upper side of her lips. She had light freckles covering most of her face. She looked good and well put together but her accusations were outrageous. “Who let you in here? I have told you never to step foot into this company!” “You don’t get to decide that!” she countered. I stared at them, looking up at Alex’s face but his sunshade was blocking the expression on his face. I stood by like a Christmas tree without saying a word. I was lost. Stunned and confused. “Let’s go, Leslie,” he repeated, this time with more depth in his tone. We pushed past the lady and walked to the elevator, leaving her with her death glares. As we got to the car, he took his shades off and ignited the car. Now, I could see his facial features more openly. This was the first time I was sitting so close to me without the barrier of a table or chair. His jawline looked so sharp, like a blade, and it took everything within me to stop myself from trailing my finger across it. Staring at his side profile was so satisfying and I realized how ridiculously good-looking he was. He had a reason to be arrogant and self-aware. He looked impossibly gorgeous. His lashes stood out, and his brows were well-groomed. His lips looked so pink and plump that I could give anything to place a kiss on them. His nose is pointed and well-shaped like he did some rhinoplasty. He looked immaculate and for what reason? To cause havoc among ladies? Why did he even choose me? Why me? He could easily choose any lady of his choice with this face. “Would you go the whole day staring at me?” he asked without taking his eyes off the road, and I quickly blinked away, letting out a breath I had no idea I was holding. “I…I wasn’t…I wasn’t staring…” I stuttered and I hit my head internally. “Do you have any questions you wanna ask me?” he asked, finally looking over at me and I couldn't help but admire his lush skin. My eyes trailed off to his velvety short hair. “No,” I mean, I have tons of questions but none of them was the reason I was staring at him. This man looks ethereal! “You do. Ask away,” “Why are you the one driving? I mean, you are strikingly wealthy. Shouldn’t you have a driver?” He looked at me and his lips arched in a mild smile before he faced the road again. “You do not seem as humble as you think you are,” “What has my humility got to do with my question?” “It means you might love to use people,” “What?” “How do you ever get your theory? First, with my name, and now this?” “I just see life a little differently from other people, I would say.” “Or you do not see life at all,” I said blatantly and he chuckled, looking at me. He shook his head and before he could say another word, his phone rang. As he reached for his phone and checked the caller, he hissed before shutting his eyes and then picking up the call. He pressed the phone to his ear, and I looked over at him, wondering what and who the other person at the other end was saying. He said no word before dropping the phone. I wanted to ask him who it was so badly but I didn't want to pry. This was the first day of being with him. The silence between us was dry, aching, and filled with tension. His face hardened as though he remembered something. I looked away from him and out the window, clutching against the seatbelt. I could suddenly feel his eyes on me, and then I felt his hand on my thigh. I jumped a bit under his touch and he gave me a little squeeze. “Aren’t you going to ask about the lady?” he finally asked. I want to ask about her so badly. What do you mean? I want to know who she was and why her face looked so damn familiar. I want to ask why she would refer to me as a whore. I want to know the history and the details. “In the contract. It says no physical touch but in just a day, you have done that twice!” He looked down at his hand and smiled broadly. “This is a physical touch to you? Wow. You must have been so touch-deprived!” I let out a sharp breath before pushing his hand off me. “Don’t do that,” he said. “Don’t do what? Push your hand off my thigh?” “No, change the topic.” I sighed. “What do you want me to say?” “Ask questions.” “Why?” I retorted. “Because you are my woman.” that kind of caught me off guard but I quickly recovered. “For a contract and for two months!” “You’re still my woman. My Shayla,” “You wouldn’t call me that in her presence!” I muttered under my breath. “We’re here,” he said as he pulled up in front of a building. I shook my head before getting down from the car. As I got down, I bumped into someone who was also getting down from his car. “Sorry,” he said, holding me by my waist to keep me steady. A few steps away, Alex stood with his hands buried in his pocket, glaring at the man or me. Maybe both of us. If looks could kill, I would have been six feet by now. His look seemed as though he was familiar with the man but only then did the man’s hold tighten around my waist. “Hello, Alex,” he said with a crooked smile in one of the deepest voices I had ever heard.Alex“Are you okay?” her voice sounded stealthy but still alluring. I pressed my hands on the steering wheel, my eyes fixed on the road without glancing over at her. “Why wouldn’t I be?” I replied dryly. It had been a very long day and as the darkness settled on the surface, my body seemed to surrender to its course. “You seemed off throughout the shopping and dinner,” “I’m perfect. Thanks for asking though,” my response cuts across as sarcastic as possible. I was far from fine. “Is this about the man from earlier? If it is…”“No, Leslie. No. It’s fine. It’s absolutely fine!” My voice was above my usual pitch but I took a deep breath. “Listen. It's just the first day of our union if that's what I should call it. It’d be too early for you to start acting up.” “Are you over it already? Do you need a break? You sound like you’re doing me a favor where, in fact, I am the one doing the grea

I held my face with so much fury bubbling inside me, but I waited for Alex to do something that was evidently taking too long. He did nothing but stare out of shock before dropping the bags in his hands and grabbing her by her wrist. “You don’t just go about having what isn’t yours!” she yelled before Alex dragged her out of the house without saying a word to me. I just stood there, shocked without saying a word. I turned my head around, following them with my eyes as they stormed out of the room. I stood there in silence with tears pricking the corner of my eyes. I was in disbelief at what had just happened. Did Alex just drag her out without doing anything? His warm breath caused goosebumps on my skin. “I said…” I almost choked on my spit but I swallowed hard. “Hold on. Be careful what you say next as that might decide what the future holds.” He snaked his palm slowly, holding me by my nape and I gasped, shutting my eyes. “Now, speak,” he whispered again and I opened my eyes to
Alex“You are both advised to go through the contract and understand every phrase.” My lawyer said, and I looked up at his face before looking at Leslie, who was seated on the seat across the table. “Here, Miss Brook,” the lawyer said. “Mr Cassel.” he handed me some papers as well. “Shouldn’t there be a change in the name already? Mrs Cassel, not Miss Brook?” “You would have to go through the contract, Mr Cassel. I have prepared the contract in a way that doesn’t contradict anyone’s preference while still upholding its authenticity.”“Arghh!” I grunted before glancing at Leslie who was busy scrolling her eyes through the pieces of paper. I decided to do the same, going through every line when she suddenly voiced out. “It says here that I cannot withdraw from the contract before the stated date,” “Yes, please. The contract cannot be terminated unless the period of two months has been concluded.”“T
