Chapter 49: A new adventure

It was getting late and there was no sign of any public transport. Officer Harris asked me again to join him but I was reluctant to ask him to drive me home. Incase, Brent saw him and got jealous, things would become more troublesome for me. But I was scared to travel alone at that hour. Also, I should have been the one to get mad as Brent left me alone on the street and didn't even text to inform me about anything. He made a joke out of me. Everyone standing there knew that he stood me up. It must be his way to take out his jealousy. But still leaving one's own wife on the street at midnight was a bit too much. I was immersed in my thoughts when officer Harris once again honked his car and asked me to get in. 

I no longer rejected his kindness and accepted his help. What possibly could have gone wrong. Officer Harris started the car. We left the hotel. I was still calling on Brent's number, hoping that he was alright.
