I hadn't told her.

Not because I couldn't, but because of all that had happened. It wouldn't be wise to hit her with my uncertainty when she was going through a lot herself.

I parked properly in the garage and groaned when I saw my mom's car.

She was going to kill me, not just because I had stood up her friend's daughter, but because I had promised not to forget and still didn't go.

It was not like I had forgotten though.

I ran a hand through my hair again, my demeanor defeated by the way Raya had sounded when she told me those words.

It was as if she was cutting all ties with me and her getting transferred back to the headquarters was going to help with that.
