Thank you for reading. Please don't forget to drop me a gem and a review. :-)
Theo “You came?” Liam taps my shoulder in greeting when the session is over. It took a lot of courage for Katherine to step into the courtroom with so much confidence and I’m so proud of her. My plan was for her to know the whole truth when all this was over but after leaving the hospital when Nina was discharged, it occurred to me that someone could use the news against me before the trial so I sat her down to explain and to my shock, she was calm about it. The man who dared attack Nina was being questioned and I hadn’t checked on how far they had gone or who sent him because of the trial. “How could I not?” I chuckled lightly. My phone vibrates and when I look at it, it’s a danger signal coming from Nina’s bracelet.”I have to go.” I stare at the screen as I try to look for her location. I turn to walk away but Liam stops me, “Where are you going?” “Nina is in trouble. But don’t tell Emily, I’ll handle it.” I whisper as I run for the main door. I try to dial the number but it
Emily “Do you have a moment?” Kate’s soft voice makes me turn around and I find her facing anywhere else but me. “Theo had to take care of something and I’m stuck.” She explains but the confused look on my face must give it away because she goes on to add. “Can I get a ride back?” she asks and the question hits me like a blow. In as much as I understood what she was going through, Kate was nothing but mean to me and her outburst during the wedding was the main contributing factor to the reason my license was taken away from me. I want to make it all go away, I do but the hurt in my heart suddenly returns as if someone has pressed a button. I continued to make that tonic because I had shut down the hurt I received and even though it was about Theo and Liam, I did it mostly for her. I wanted her better but I don’t think I had forgiven her for everything that happened and I don’t think now’s the time for me to talk with her. Alex had pulled us into an emergency meeting because William
Emily. The drive was a silent one. It is only after I park outside their house that Kate finally speaks up “I know I have no excuse but I don’t regret my actions. I only regret the fact that I directed that energy to an innocent person. Victoria has been the only friend I’ve had since growing up and she was the last person I expected to do this. She’s uptight and rude but murder? That came as a blow to me. I’m very sorry Emily and I don’t expect you to forgive me but I hope you eventually find it in your heart.” As I watch her speak, my heart bleeds and hurts for her. I wanted to stay mad but Looking at how miserable she felt, I put myself in her shoes and pushed it aside. Kate was raised a princess and experiencing such a thing must have driven her crazy. I reach out and squeeze her hand. “It’s okay. We’re good.” I smile. “Please don’t do that, it will only make me feel worse.” Kate looks down in shame. I reach out to her and lift her chin with my forefinger. "It's okay, Kate,
Liam “I’m so sorry for what you’re going through son. Let me know if there is anything else you need me to do just let me know. Emily is my daughter too and I want her image restored.” Dad says at the end of the line and I sigh heavily. “Thanks, Dad,” I respond then I cut the line. We had flown over to Seattle and thanks to my influence, I was able to postpone today’s hearing by two days. That is all the time I need to expose these bastards. After Alex and I flew to Seattle last night, Anderson called me asking where I was and that didn’t go very well I must say. “Don’t blow our cover just yet.” Alex rolls his eyes as he pulls over outside the hospital. The one Emily worked at before she moved to New York. “What makes you think that I’ll blow our cover?” I shrug. He shakes his head and chuckles as if I just made one of those dry Dad jokes. “Seeing that your temper is off the roof and you feel played, I don’t think we are safe.” I laugh as I start to walk towards the main entr
Emily “Are you sure about this?” I ask Nina who just rolls her eyes at me and adds a middle finger. So vulgar! “I had a mental breakdown, Emily! I didn’t lose my hands and feet!” She groans as she takes the list from me which earns me a laugh from Kate and Lily. “At this rate, she will put you on her back!” They both laugh making me frown. It has been four days since the trial was finally over. Instead of being a witness, William was instead prosecuted and found guilty of assault and abuse of power. Victoria was also found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment with no access to bail. I don’t know how Liam did it but I just want to show my appreciation tonight and that is why I called the girls over, to help me shop for lingerie and other ingredients for a meal. Our kids are away and will be back soon so this is the only chance I have to do this. “What do you think about this?” I ask as I raise a red one in front of them and Lily whistles. She is the youngest and the most dr
Nina My phone rings for the hundredth time and I stare at it sighing heavily before swiping right. “Hi.” I blush the irritation immediately vanishing at the sound of his voice. “Hey book princess.” comes Theo’s thick deep voice. I smile like a high school girl as I bite my bottom lip, “This is the hundredth time you’ve called me in less than an hour.” I tease making him chuckle. “Just checking on my favorite girl. Move in with me so that I won’t have to call every hour.” Theo suggests making me roll my eyes as I fight the butterflies growing in my stomach. I smile again while twirling a strand of my hair in my finger, brushing off the joke. "Nice try, Theo. But I'm not falling for that.” “You’re right. We first start with putting a ring on those gorgeous fingers before anything else.” He whispers making me clench my thighs together when I’m all alone in the kitchen. “Theo..” I trail off unsure what to respond to that. Is he joking or is he serious? Marriage to Theo Kingsley?
Nina All my life I thought that what stops a heart from beating is when life is taken away but even as an Author, I never imagined that someone’s confession could stop you from breathing. I stare at the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen and when he tells me he loves me, my whole world shifts, and suddenly it feels like I’m floating. All the pain I was holding onto, suddenly becomes a cloud of certainty. I feel heartbroken for having lost my mother like that but heaven gave me a second chance and gave me a beautiful mother. If not for the triggers, I would still not have known about the adoption. This is how great my parents have been and that is something I shouldn’t throw away. This man holding me into his arms has reminded me of that, and as I look up at him a smile stretches across my face. “Thank you,” I whisper. He looks at me with a confused look which makes me smile even more. “I love you too,” I add which takes away the panic in his eyes. He later cooks me pasta and chicken
Theo The past week has been full of meetings and as I suspected, my company needs cleaning too. I had a meeting with Liam where he gave me an update on his next move and what he intends on doing next and I must say, it’s truly remarkable. Victoria’s father was working with his daughter and now all we need to do is prove that and the rest will follow. “How do you plan on going through with this?” I ask Liam, sitting with his back laid back lazily looking at me like I just asked an obvious question. He chuckles darkly before responding, “They messed with my family, and framed my wife for murder. Do you think I sat back all these months and watched them flourish?” He raises his brow and I eye him suspiciously. “What have you been up to?” I ask and he shrugs. “The usual. Bought shares and had Smith kicked out and now I want him locked up right next to Sanderson and his useless son William. I will have them gone for a very long long time.” He stretches out the word long making me swal
