Thank you for reading. Please leave me a review and a gem :-)
Theo The past week has been full of meetings and as I suspected, my company needs cleaning too. I had a meeting with Liam where he gave me an update on his next move and what he intends on doing next and I must say, it’s truly remarkable. Victoria’s father was working with his daughter and now all we need to do is prove that and the rest will follow. “How do you plan on going through with this?” I ask Liam, sitting with his back laid back lazily looking at me like I just asked an obvious question. He chuckles darkly before responding, “They messed with my family, and framed my wife for murder. Do you think I sat back all these months and watched them flourish?” He raises his brow and I eye him suspiciously. “What have you been up to?” I ask and he shrugs. “The usual. Bought shares and had Smith kicked out and now I want him locked up right next to Sanderson and his useless son William. I will have them gone for a very long long time.” He stretches out the word long making me swal
Theo “All we have to do is get three members of the board to agree with you and the change will be smooth.” John my lawyer explains and I nod. I have enough dirt on everyone so that should be an easy task but I don’t say that out loud. These are moves I keep hidden only for me. “I can work something out,” I respond and he nods. He goes on to explain the worst things that can happen to them through the law and I nod knowing if I have to decide between breaking it, I won’t even think twice about it. “Good, so we can start working on it tomorrow. But we need to do this without your uncle knowing so that it’s a surprise attack. If you have anything he can use against you, you need to tell me right now. I know about Kate-” But I cut him off, “Kate is safe. No harm will come to her.” I respond confidently when I remember how I almost skinned Alex alive for asking her out but Liam stepped in and assured me the guy was a good one and would keep my angel safe. “And?” John presses on as
Emily “I swear I was about to declare you missing!” I glare at Nina who looks at me with puppy eyes while she holds Liam’s cake in her hands. Lily moves closer concern laced in her voice, “Seriously, we were so worried why didn’t you call us?” She pins us all to the spot. Lily is the bubbly one among us and is rarely upset if anything, today is the first time we have seen her lose it, and rightfully so. “It’s my fault, I should have called you when I found her on my way to D.C yesterday. I guess we got carried away.” Theo says reluctantly which earns him a deadly glare from his sister but he just flips her a tongue out like a six-year-old making me smile. “D.C? Nina?” my gaze shifting to her worriedly. “Did something happen?” I ask but she places the cake down and sighs. “No, My GPS Misled me and my phone died. It started raining and my car wouldn’t start luckily, Theo was using the same road.” She explains but we all just look at her while nodding slowly as we wonder what the o
Emily “Are you okay babe?” Nina pulls me into a hug as I turn to smile at the girls. Shockingly, I don’t lie when I respond, “I’m fine truly. Let’s finish preparing before we run out of time. I don’t want to buy any takeouts. We are cooking homemade fresh meals.” I look at the three women standing before me and Kate’s face goes pale. “Do we have to? I mean we can always-” She begins but I shake my head. “Yes, we have to.” The support has been massive and my heart swells at how well we work together to bring my vision to life. In a short time, the penthouse is transformed into a scene of elegance, and signs of a party are everywhere. An idea Kayden and Hayden brought up. Streamers and balloons in shades of blue and silver adorn the walls and ceiling, and every other corner we could manage thanks to Jake, Theo, and Alex who I forced to help us even after they outright refused saying parties should just be alcohol and meat. For the dining area, we manage to roll in a bigger and
Liam After leaving Theo’s office yesterday, I had to visit Dad and tell him what I was up to, and when he gave me the go-ahead, I knew I had to end this once and for all. I walk into the board room where the meeting is expected to be held. After digging some dirt for Smith shareholders, I was able to buy off their shares making me the largest shareholder with 51%. Victoria’s father wasn’t expecting to see me so when I stepped into the board room he looked at me in furry. “This is a shareholder’s meeting! “ He announces but I ignore him and sit on his opposite end. I want to see how his face will look while I strip him of everything he holds precious. “I’m well aware.”I smile. His assistant must have caught on because he leans in and whispers something to him which turns his face pale. I clear my throat as I stand and button up my jacket slowly. Everyone looks nervous because they didn’t expect me to be here and I know they’ve heard about me especially since some are the people I
Liam After an hour-long drive, I finally reach a normal-looking house which I’m guessing is under another name and if anything happens here, no one will know, making a smile stretch across my face. This is about to get very interesting! I walk to the front door and open it carefully, the last thing I want is to be tied to a chair and put my kids in danger especially since I came here without backup. But I have a few friends nearby and they will be more than glad to help out. Pushing the door open, I step inside, scanning the dimly lit room. "Anderson, where are you?" I call out. The house is so empty, my voice echoes. I take a seat on the couch as I wait for the man of the hour to show up. "Liam, I'm glad you came," Anderson says, his voice calm but I can taste his fear at the tip of my tongue. I nod at him as he takes a seat on the other side. “You look better.” I begin and he chuckles but it’s a forced laugh. As I look at him clearly, I can tell he is having a hard time and h
Emily I don’t know how much time has passed since I locked myself into my room but I can’t go out there yet. Not until I’m certain of the threat I just received. A soft knock at the door makes me panic as I think of a way out “I’ll be there just a minute.” I shout. As I’m about to stand, my phone vibrates and when I see Liam’s name flash on my screen my heart beats so fast. What if someone just found it and they want to give me bad news? With a shaking hand, I swipe right. “Hello?” My voice comes out shaken. “Baby? Are you okay?” comes Liam’s voice and my heart rests instantly replacing my fear with anger. “Why didn’t you pick up? I thought. I thought.” Tears start to fall on my face as all the possible scenarios return but I don’t know how to say it without him being angry at the fact that I kept the threats hidden from him for the past three months. “I had to take care of something. You won’t be receiving any threats anymore. I found the one behind it. Let’s talk about it whe
One year later: Nina "This is great Nina, I'm so happy for you!" My manager says as we look at the list of how many pre-orders we have for the new book. It's like a dream come true. One which I didn't think was possible especially with how scared I was before I decided to give my dream a chance! I smile at her, "Thank you so much Miss Fanwell for believing in me and giving me this incredible chance." "No problem sweetheart, let's make today a success too!" She claps her hands together as we get the ball rolling. I take a seat at my table and start signing the pre-orders while we wait for 10 AM to open the doors. I run a smooth hand on my paperback and my heart swells with emotions. With a smile on my face, I take a picture and post it on I*******m for the first time in a year. After my Dad attacked me, I had been so paranoid and couldn't post my picture anywhere especially after I discovered how he found me. Social media can be a dangerous place to post most of your life. Hayden “ Come on we are going to be late guys, Kayden will start his presentation very soon.” I tap my fingers on the table impatiently. When we turned eighteen earlier this year, Kayden was finally able to get his tech company launched which we are all supposed to be attending but Mum and Dad seem to be having time in reverse. “We are coming! Pick Maya up please” Mum says and I roll my eyes. Maya may be my little sister but she can be annoying as hell as right now, I want to be on my best behavior because beauty will be there today. “No Mum, Maya will misbehave and I want to impress Beauty,” I complain earning a chuckle from Dad who walks towards me and ruffles my hair making my frown and irritation disappear. As Kyaden and I grow older, the more we look exactly like Dad so I’m even able to tell how I’ll look years from now and I must say, it’s not such a bad thing. “She will gain you more points. Women find men who babysit attractive.” Mum says but I shake my head. “You’re goi
Three months later: Nina The church is decorated beautifully. There are white roses along the aisle, making it smell sweet. Candles have been lit, giving the church a warm glow. At the front, there is a pretty arch with white fabric and flowers. I peep through the window to ensure everything is perfect despite Emily who is my maid of honor telling me everything is perfect. It’s been three months since that incident that shook my life. I wasn’t panicking like I normally would but being on the verge of death twice made me realise something, that I don’t want to waste any second longer so the moment we reached home, I told Theo I wanted to get married. At first, he laughed and thought I was joking until he realized that I was serious. It took three months because he first wanted to make sure all the overseas offices were working perfectly before setting up his headquarters right here in New York. My girls had lost it when they realized that I was attacked twice but they knew that som
Theo “So you think this is over?” My uncle’s text reads making me grind my teeth in irritation. I’m about to respond but my sweet angel’s voice pulls me from the text. “Let me visit the restroom.” She says and I offer her a smile as I try not to show the displeasure that I’ve just received on such a happy day. “Okay, Princess,” I respond and she walks toward the restroom. Too many minutes pass as I start growing uncomfortable so I walk to the restroom. To check on what has gone wrong. When I get there it’s awfully quiet. “Nina?” I shout but I’m met with a silent response. “Nina!” I shout the second time but I don’t wait for her response when I walk into the ladies and find her purse and her phone on the floor. My heart beats loudly as the realization of what has just happened hits me. My uncle has taken my girl! My heart is pounding in my chest as I realize what has happened. I thought stripping him off his title and announcing his retirement would make him live in a corner but
Nina "A date mmmm, Maybe he'll propose!" Lily says excitedly but I shake my head. "We've joked a few times about it but I'm not sure he's ready. Any way guys, it's just an ordinary dinner nothing too crazy or extra!" I pause and look at the girls who are all looking at me with raised eyebrows. Because of our crazy schedules, we promised to always call each other on video so that we never miss a day in each other's lives. Kate is awfully quiet which makes me feel uneasy. "Kate is something wrong?" I ask making her shoot her eyes up with a shake of the head. "No, I'm sorry guys. There is this story that is giving me a headache. Nina, whether he proposes today or next year, Theo loves you and I don't think there is anyone else he'd rather do life with." A blush creeps my cheeks at Kate's words. I'm about to respond when I hear a car, "Okay girls, I've got to!" I shout as I quickly hang up and rush downstairs. As Theo's car pulls up to my house, I feel a flutter of excitement in my
