---Nevaeh's POV---
Today was the first official day where I would be starting my job role and getting to know everyone in at the company. My father has specifically given me a project that I would have to manage myself and whatever the outcome would be could implicate his decision on if I am ready for taking over the company.
However, I know for a fact that it wasn't just a simple project since, at the back of his mind, I will need to fully prove myself with my ability for him to fully accept that I am taking over.
Getting ready was easy but knowing that I would have to spend the morning with my family was a difficult task. Since my sister was back for a couple of weeks, breakfast with the family was not a scene that I want to endure before my first day at the company.
Knowing that I need some food in my body, I walked out of the house without greeting my family, since they would start insulting me about yesterday’s event, and started to drive to the nearest Starbucks.
Finally getting my hands on some coffee and bagel, I started to make my way towards the company. Through walking into the company, I had to go through security since I haven't received my work lanyard for me to not have to go through security. Thank god, the security has been notified that I was arriving today and allowed me in and was able to get my lanyard.
As I reached to my office that was shown by my father's secretary and started to go through the files that were already placed on my table. The office was on the floor beneath my fathers, since he was on the top floor being the CEO. Knowing that after he resigns and hands over the position to me, it would be my office made me realize that I shouldn't get to cozy in this office.
The files that were placed on my table where just the briefing of the project that I was managing for the next month or so. This was obvious as I predicted not a straightforward task when the other participant was a company that was known for its tricks when forming a contract.
This did make things much more difficult but I couldn't back out of this project even if I wanted to cause it would just show to my father that I wasn't suitable or having the ability to take over the position.
There was a knock on the door before a female walked in, who didn't look any older than me.
"Hi Miss Miller, I'm your appointed secretary Camilla. My office is right next to yours so if you have any issues then you can use the phone on your table or email me. There is also a meeting for the project briefing in an hours’ time.
This would be a chance for you to meet the other departments and the co-workers that will be working with you for this project. I'd come back in an hour to escort you to the meeting room but as of right now do you need any tea or coffee?" She stated with a smile.
I liked her attitude of getting straight to the point and being professional even though it may be my first day. "Could you get me a cup of coffee please with one sugar cup and with milk please, yet also can you possibly get me all of the co-workers resume so I am able to know who I will be working with beforehand." I smiled back and she went to the get coffee was had asked.
Within a couple of minutes, I had the files that I asked for and the cup of coffee on my table. Knowing that the best thing I can do before the meeting was to fully understand who my father has given me for completing this project.
I believe that having a better understanding of who I will be working with is a definite knowledge since I need to be prepared for the different issues that may arise through this month of completing the project.
Looking at some of the individuals that were going to be in specific departments that were going to help me, I pinpointed out that some of the individuals may become an issue. Even though it may be stereotypical, but it did make me question why there were accepted into Miller's Cooperation when they didn't have a lot of ability.
However, I couldn't label these individuals as having any ability until the meeting where I will have a better insight into who these individuals are.
------
Without even realising an hour had already passed, and Camilla came to escort me to the meeting room where everything was already set out and ready. I sat down on one of the chairs and waited for other people to arrive.
It wasn't long before people started to arrive. However, after 5 minutes one chair was still empty. Seeing Camilla was sitting next to me with her notebook out and iPad out to make any significant notes that would be discussed in this meeting.
"Camilla, who are we still waiting for and where is this individual?" I asked with a bit of annoyance since I knew exactly who this individual we were waiting for and she was one of the individuals that I pinpointed as a questionable figure to the Miller's cooperation.
"We're waiting for an individual called Crystal, she maybe a couple of minutes late," Camilla replied with a nervous look. Everyone in the room seems to have the same nervous look which made me question exactly who this Crystal was.
"Is there any way of getting her to arrive soon. This is a meeting and it should have started already." I replied, seriously getting agitated over the fact everyone had to wait for someone when people may have jobs still pilling up and this is wasting our time. I decided to give her another 5 minutes before starting the meeting.
"Well, we have already waited for 15 minutes. We will not wait anymore." I stated before getting ready to go through the debrief of the project that we will all be working on for the next couple of weeks - months. Not even 10 minutes into the meeting this Crystal individual came strutting in with the most non-appropriate outfit ever for a company.
"Sorry for being late." She replied whilst strutting towards the empty dress. Her outfit suggested that she possible just came from a club.
"Well. Crystal is it? Would you mind telling us why you decided to be 25 minutes late to this meeting? Especially when this is my first impression of you." I questioned her whilst she didn't look one bit bothered by her facial expressions. I stood up and walked towards her.
"Looking at your resume before coming to this meeting, it seemed that you don't have a lot of talent or qualifications for you to get accepted into this company," I stated whilst standing behind her now. "Now. How the hell did you get into this company?" I whispered into her ear.
"Move the hell away from me! Who do you think you are trying to intimidate me? I will tell my daddy about this situation." she whined whilst getting up to leave the room.
"And who is this father that could possibly help you," I questioned with actual curiosity with exactly who was able to help her get into this company and gave her the confidence of being 25 minutes late and talking back towards me.
"My daddy is one of your investors. So, without my father's money, you could be in an unwanted situation. So, I don't care who you are, now get out of my way. I have a spa date with my girlfriends so tuts."
I couldn't believe the nerve of this female who believes that she is able to act like this way just because her father is one of our investors which my father probably agreed to with the likelihood of agreeing to give this Crystal a place in our company.
"Well, Crystal. I do not care if your father is one of the company’s investors. The moment you decide to work at Miller's Cooperation, you have decided to follow a set of rules that are stated in the contract that you signed.
So due to the contract that you signed, which I have a copy here with your resume. You have broken many of these rules, and you decided that the only thing you want to do is go on a spa date. That is fine.
However, the moment you step out of here, you are no longer the head of marketisation seeing you already don't do a lot of work and become just an ordinary worker." I stated with anger seeing she was here out of connections and even though she got this job due to connections, she should be grateful and not acting like she owns this company and not doing any work.
Without a word from her she chuckled yet opened her mouth to speak once again "You don't have the ability to demote me!"
"You can walk out of this meeting room to your spa date and see what happens tomorrow. Or you can stay and take some notes on the meeting, yet tomorrow I want a report on your sector and the implications your sector will do in this project. The choice is yours." I stated whilst going back to my chair and gestured to the door before started to talk about the project brief.
Stopping for a moment, I looked up to see that she was still here so I gestured to her chair wondering if she was still going to sit down and allow me to get on with the meeting or she would leave so I don't have to worry about her. Everyone stared at her to see what her action was.
Surprisingly, she made her way towards her chair and sat back down which made me smirk and allowed the meeting to proceed.
Throughout the meeting, it seemed like Crystal was fully submerged into this, but I couldn't be sure until I receive the report on my table first thing in the morning. This may be the first time that these different departments would be making a report after each meeting but I think this is a great way to see exactly they think is significant through a meeting and exactly what their ideas are on and also making sure they're paying attention. It also gives me an idea what their work ethic is and what they're ability is instead of asking just Camilla to do the reports after each meeting. These individuals may be very confused as to why I'm asking them to do a report, but I am always clear with what I am doing. Finally finished with the meeting and g
Everything was so confusing to me. Why he could invite me out on a dinner date that was supposed to just be about a business opportunity but in the end is in a romantic setting and I couldn't explain this feeling I had when he talked about this restaurant as being his and how he went through the process of building this restaurant up. Before I had always thought that he was someone who gathered all his fame and fortune from just taking over his father’s company but in the end, it was a mixture. Behind the scenes, he did do his work and was very passionate about it. "So, what did you want to talk about and what was this business opportunity that you thought I would be very interested in," I asked since the waiter had come back with our food and we had to get down to business before I finish all of the food.
---Alec's POV---The moment I scared her, and her coffee spilt on her hand, I felt the need to protect her. This was the first time in years since I've felt this feeling. The moment she came into my life, I've felt all sort of things that I thought I couldn't be able to feel anymore. I looked at her hand after rinsing it under the cold tap to see if it was still hurting. It was slightly red which did make me worry but knowing that she didn't spill a lot made me feel at ease. I should give myself a note to ask one of the workers to send her some ointment for this. I couldn't help but crease her cheeks when I detected some sadness in her voice when I told her that I had to fly out of the country for a couple of days. It wasn't intended to leave just after giving her the contract see I would
---Nevaeh's POV---The moment I pushed him out of the door I couldn't believe what I had just done. Without think, I had teased him and had given him a hard-on without realising. However, I just didn't have enough time to give myself even a second to think about my actions when Camilla came in to tell me that my first meeting of the day was about to start. However, before leaving she told me that Alec had left an ointment for my hand. This did make me feel slightly happy that he was able to think about me, but I remembered that he was the sole reason to why I got burnt in the first place. Within a couple of hours, we had finally gotten through all the meetings without one of the workers being late or out of place.
After getting ready I was already drooling from the smell of pancakes that Iris had started to make. This homely feeling was unfamiliar to me. When I was younger, my parents never stepped into the kitchen and if I wanted to have breakfast, I would have to ask one of the cooks. It was also very rare that I would have breakfast with my family since they would take my sister on her pageant runways and I would wake up in a house that was only filled with workers. They were more like my real families than my actual families. So when I suddenly got bombarded at how I was doing and how I was feeling these couple of days whilst being served a huge plate of delicious pancakes, I couldn't help but wish that I could feel this way forever. "Alec, come down here and eat some pancakes before you leave!
All I wanted to do was to eat this burger in peace. But obviously, this group of males decided to trash my peaceful time and I am so close to hitting them.Nobody! And I mean Nobody should interrupt a women's food time. Especially when this woman has been dragged around by her crazy friends for possibly 4 hours. "Move." "Oh, this woman is feisty. We all like a feisty woman, especially when we can tame them."Now, this pissed me off. Nobody should talk about a woman that way. We are not objecting or something that men can just "tame". "Excuse me. But who the hell are you on about "Taming them" because I know for a fact that you don't mean us!"
---Alec's POV---It was very hard to leave her when she had just moved in. I had one of my PI to give me some background information on her father's company and her life at the house and it shocked me. I couldn't believe my own eyes that someone would treat their child like dirt. I wouldn't have believed that she was their biological child if I didn't see the medical information. This was very shocking, but I guess she is in at a better place at my house than at hers. I also found out that she wasn't financially helped when she was in London. This was very shocking since her father was the owner of a multi-billion company. The information stated that she got most of her financial help from her grandmother if she seriously needed it but o
---Nevaeh's POV---I woke up a couple of days ago and had just gotten discharged from the hospital today. I spent at least 3 days there since they needed to make sure that the drug wouldn't have any side effects on my body, especially when I had reacted that badly to it in the first place. Through those 3 days, I've grown to like Alec as an individual much more. The one main thing that I realised about him was how caring he was in those 3 weeks. He was sitting across my hospital bed and wouldn't leave the room for more than 3 hours. Those were the times he would go home to freshen up and bring back food for me since hospital food wasn't particularly appealing for me and the time that he would check up on his company.
