Sonia's POV
I smiled as I baked the cake with excitement. Today is a special day for me. It's my wedding anniversary with my husband, Ethan. But this year was special, there was something even more precious to be celebrated. I'm pregnant and the thought of it makes my stomach swell with joy. After my miscarriage last two years, I hadn't gotten pregnant since then. I was shocked when the doctor handed me the result and told me that I was pregnant. I couldn't contain my joy as I screamed with excitement. I'm planning to surprise Ethan with my pregnancy result tonight even though Things haven't been going well between us for a while now but I can't wait to see his reaction, to watch his face light up when I told him the news. I spent the entire day preparing as the kitchen buzzed with the aroma of his favorite dishes. The table was set, Everything was perfect and My hands trembled slightly as I placed the final touches, imagining the surprise and happiness in his eyes when he walked through that door. I decided to call my husband to come home early so that we can celebrate together and to also share the good news with him but he wasn't responding "Maybe he's still busy with work." I thought within. The hours ticked by slowly, each minute stretching into an eternity as I waited. The anticipation that had once bubbled inside me started to feel heavy. I glanced at the clock, hoping each time that he would walk in, greet me with his familiar smile, and we celebrate together. But the house remained quiet, the only sound being the ticking of the clock. When the door finally opened, relief washed over me, "Welcome, honey." I ran to welcome him with a smile but it was short-lived. Ethan slightly pushed me aside, his face devoid of any emotion, his eyes cold and distant and I felt my heart skip a beat. "Are you alright? Did something happen at the office?" My heart was heavy with worries but he ignored me and I watched in confusion as he walked past me, his gaze piercing through me like I was a stranger. “What’s wrong?” I asked, my voice trembling slightly as I followed him to the living room. "I have something to tell you," he said coldly, placing a paper in front of me, the paper I hadn't noticed that he was holding. I gasped, My heart raced as I read the title: Divorce agreement. "What's this?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. “What does it look like?” he spat, his voice devoid of any emotions. "Uhm... I... I... Know that this is....a..." I was cut shut by Ethan who blurted out, "I want a divorce!" Divorce! My heart dances madly in fear as a cold sweat ran down my smile. No! No! No! This is not happening. Not tonight, not on our anniversary. I knew our marriage hadn't been perfect for the past three years but I wasn't expecting this, not now that God has answered my prayers and blessed me with another pregnancy. I looked up at him, searching his face for any sign that this was some terrible mistake, or perhaps, he was joking but all I saw was cold indifference. My whole body trembled as I stared at the papers that my husband placed before me. Is he serious? “What! Ethan… why?” My voice cracked, tears welled up in my eyes. "I knew that things hadn't been going well between us but I think we can still work things out." "It's too late." he whispered, massaging his temple, "Celine is back." He blurted out and my heart leaped to my throat. Hearing that name sent a chill into my heart. "Celine is back? For what?" I asked in disbelief, my heart heavy with pain as tears forced to come out of my eyes. "Are you seriously asking me that right now?" he questioned coldly, "Celine is the only woman I love and you know it but you manipulate my mother and force yourself into my life by trapping me with pregnancy. You made my mother threaten me with my inheritance just so I could marry you! Do you know what that made me feel? Living with you for the past three years has been a hell for me." he thundered through gritted teeth, shattering my heart into pieces. His words pierced my heart like a thousand pins, breaking it into a million fragments without repair. I looked at him with tears of heartbreak streaming down my cheeks. I never manipulated Ma'am Lucy for me to marry him. She was the one who asked me to marry him when she found out that I was pregnant with Ethan's child. How could he say this? I did my best just to please him. I have been a loving and caring wife to him for the past three years, why would he do this to me? What did I do wrong? I clutched my chest which was burning with pain as breathing became difficult for me. He has been asking for a divorce ever since his mother, Madam Lucy died a few months ago but I never knew he was serious. I was ready to do anything to have him, to make our marriage work. He can't possibly throw all our three years together because Celine is back. "I..I.. I love you, Ethan. Please, don't do this to me." I choked on my words. "You are aware, I don't love you. My mother is dead now and Celine, my true love, the person whose position you stole is back so, I don't see any reason why I should keep you here." His words were like a punch to the gut. My heart clenched with pain as pathetic tears of heartbreak slipped down my face. I can never believe this... I never thought that a day like this would come, not even when it was obvious that he didn't love me as much as I loved him. I have been hoping that one day, he would see how much I genuinely love him and he would love me back. No, I can't allow this to happen, there must be a way out. I sniffed my tears as I raised my gaze at him with my teary eyes. "Plea... Please, don't do this to me. I love you and I have something very important to tell you." I choked on my words as tears streamed down my cheeks, hoping he might change his mind if he knew that I was pregnant. "Keep whatever you want to tell me to yourself, I'm not interested. I have to get back to the office," his cold voice broke my heart into pieces. "I have already signed the divorce papers so you have just two days to sign your part and leave my house." He informed me and left without looking back, leaving me shattered and broken.Sonia's POV I watched Ethan leave the house, his words echoing in my mind, giving me three days to pack and leave. I wanted to believe that it wasn’t real, that he would come back and we would talk it through. If there were problems between us, I was ready to work them out, to fix whatever was broken. Divorce wasn’t an option for me—not after everything we've been through, not now that I'm carrying his child. I just needed him to come back home, to see me, to see us and to know that I was carrying his child. I sank into the couch that was close to me as I cried like a child with my whole body trembling from emotions and shock."Where do I go wrong? Why can't Ethan love me?" Tears of heartbreak streamed down my cheeks. "Oh, please! Don't act so surprised and heartbroken. Do you think that my handsome and rich brother was going to remain with a lowlife like you? I told you, it's only a matter of time." Tina, Ethan's step-sister said with a sinister smile, rolling her eyes as she str
Sonia's POV "Sonia was never pregnant." He blurted out, coldly, "The child was the only reason why I accepted to marry her when mother was forcing me. I found out later that she lied about being pregnant just to have me marry her." His voice was cold, cruel, and filled with bitterness. "I knew it. I knew she was up to no good but It's okay, my love. Everything will be fine now that I'm back." Celine replied. My blood went cold, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I sat frozen on the bed, my hand trembling as I listened. Ethan thought I lied about being pregnant just to have him marry me? How could he think of that? Was that the reason why he started acting cold towards me after my miscarriage? No, I can't believe this. My breath caught in my throat as I remembered that terrible day, the day my whole world collapsed.I had been so happy, so full of hope. The child growing inside me had been the one thing that gave me purpose in this hollow marriage. But all that changed when
Ethan's POV I thought when I marry Sonia, I would learn to love her and forget about Celine but I was wrong. My heart still beat for her, no matter how hard I tried to convince myself otherwise.Celine was my childhood friend and my first love. Even though she was the one who cheated on me, I was ready to forgive and take her back. Sounds crazy right? But that was how much I loved her. I never knew Sonia had always wanted to have me, to take Celine’s position in my life until the day our drinks was drugged, leading to sexual encounter between us. I only asked her to pretend to be my financee pending on when the scandal would dies out. But then, she told me she was pregnant. I was shocked.. confused. I asked her to give me time, to let me process everything because I wasn’t ready for this kind of commitment, especially not with my secretary, someone I didn’t love. I didn’t know how, but somehow, my mother found out about the pregnancy before I could even figure things out for mysel
Sonia's POV "And with this new design concept, we project a 30% increase in our sales for the next two years,” Jake, one of my senior designers, said confidently as he pointed to the screen. The room was silent, except for the clicking of his laser pointer and the hum of the air conditioning. The rest of my workers watched me expectantly, waiting for my reaction. I leaned back in my chair, my fingers intertwined on the desk in front of me. It was a good presentation... no, it was great. They had worked tirelessly on this, and it showed.“That’s... impressive, Jake,” I said with a smile. “You’ve all done a fantastic job. Let’s proceed with this strategy and you all will be getting a bonus for this.”Jake and the rest of the workers exchanged relieved smiles, their faces washed with joy as they all shouted and jumped with excitement. I knew they had put their all into this, and they deserved to feel proud. "Thank you, ma'am." They appreciated, bowing their heads. I watched as they
Sonia I blinked my eyes as I still couldn’t believe that it was Ethan. He was Standing just a few feet away, chatting so casually with my son. The same man who once broke me into pieces that it took years before I was able to put myself back together. And now, he is here, smiling and talking to my son as though fate had deliberately thrown him in my path. This couldn’t be happening. Not on my first day back in London. My breath quickened, my heart hammering against my ribcage as tears welled up in my eyes, but I quickly wiped them away. I'm no longer the weak Sonia and I won't allow my past to bring down my emotions. “Mommy!” Jay’s bright voice snapped me out of my trance. He spun around and ran toward me with open arms.I rushed towards him, crouched down and hugged him tightly, almost afraid that if I let him go, he would disappear into thin air. “Jay,” I whispered shakily, my hands trembling as they gripped his small frame. “Why did you leave my side? You scared me.”Jay pull
EthanFive years. That’s how long it’s been since I last saw Sonia and it had been a hell for me. Five years of searching and regretting. I have hired top—tier detectives, sparing no expenses to find her but every lead turned into a dead end. It was as if she had vanished from the face of the earth. I tried to convince myself that I didn’t care anymore, that she didn’t matter, but deep down, I knew I was lying. Sonia haunted my thoughts, her face flashing in my mind when I least expected it. And now, here I was, at the airport, waiting for a business flight to attend a conference that would elevate my company but I couldn't think straight as the thought of Sonia filled my head. My thoughts were interrupted when I noticed a boy standing a few feet away, looking lost. He couldn’t have been older than five or six. His small frame seemed out of place amidst the bustling crowd, yet there was something oddly familiar about him.His face and pink lips reminded me of someone. Someone I cou
Sonia The next day, After eating my breakfast with my son, I went into the bathroom to freshen up.I was just stepping out of the bathroom with the soft towel wrapped around my wet hair when I heard Jay's voice calling out."Mom, your phone's been ringing," he said, sitting cross-legged on the bed with his iPad in hand.I sighed, exhaustion weighing on me from the long trip. "Thanks, sweetheart. Did you see who called?"He shook his head, his eyes fixed on the screen of his iPad. Just as I reached for the phone on the bedside table, it buzzed again. Glancing at the screen, I saw Shirley, my assistant’s name flashing.“Hello, Shirley,” I answered, sitting on the edge of the bed as I wondered what urgent matter would have prompted her to call me this early morning. “Good morning, ma’am! I hope I’m not disturbing you,” Shirley’s voice came through, urgent yet professional. "No, not at all," I replied. "Is anything the problem?" "I just got a call from Mr. Phillip, one of our investor
Ethan I went straight home as soon as I left the airport with Different unanswered questions running through my head. I had to find out more about Sonia and Jay. I needed to know if Jay was my son even though Deep down, I felt a connection to him. His eyes, his confidence—it was like... staring at a younger version of myself. But I needed proof. I couldn’t rely on feelings alone.“You’re back already?” Celine’s voice jolted me out of my thoughts as I stepped into the living room. She looked up from the couch, gazing at me curiously. Celine had been staying in my house for a month now, despite my refusal. She insisted that being closer would help us “reconnect,” especially since she noticed I was distant and no longer gave her the attention she craved But it wasn’t my fault. I couldn’t stop thinking about Sonia. “Yes, I canceled my flight,” I replied softly. Her brows furrowed as she stood and walked toward me, "Why would you cancel such an important trip?""There’s somethin
Sonia The soft creak of the door jolted me out of my sleep. My eyes felt heavy as I forced them open, adjusting to the dim hospital room. For a moment, I panicked but then I felt the warmth beside me and turned to see Jay, sleeping peacefully. A small smile tugged at my lips. I have been singing to him, hoping it would comfort him but I didn't realize when sleep took over. “Good evening, Ms. Sonia.” The gentle voice made me turn and I saw a nurse walk in, the same one who was with the doctor earlier. She had a kind smile on her face as she approached me. “How are you feeling Ms Sonia?” she asked. I rubbed my temple lightly and smiled. “I feel better but I still have a slight headache.” She nodded. “That’s normal for now. I’m here to give you an injection and some medicine but you will need to take them after eating.” I watched as she prepared the syringe and I sighed softly. “Alright.” The sharp sting of the injection made me wince but I remained still. After she ga
Sonia "Mommy!" Jay’s voice rang through the room as he ran toward me. I blinked in shock as I couldn't believe, "Jay!" I gasped, my heart nearly bursting with emotion as he opened the door and ran towards me. I pulled him into my arms, holding him so tight as if I was afraid he would disappear again. Tears blurred my vision as I felt the warmth of my little boy against me. He is real, He is here. I pulled back slightly, my hands shaking as I checked his body. "Are you okay? Did they hurt you? Tell me, Jay, are you alright?" Jay nodded with a small smile. "I’m okay, Mommy." But my heart ached in pain as I looked at him, fresh tears welled in my eyes. He was so thin. His once chubby cheeks had sunken in and there were bruises on his arms. My heart clenched painfully. How could Daniel do this to a child? Did he have no conscience? A sob escaped my lips as I cupped Jay’s face, gently rubbing my thumb across his bruised skin. "I’m so sorry," I choked out. "I should have
SoniaMy body trembled as I held Ethan’s cold hand, my fingers tightening around his as if I could keep him from slipping away. Tears streamed down my face but I couldn’t stop them. "Drive faster, please!" I urged, my voice breaking. The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror and gave a quick nod. “Yes, ma’am.” The car sped down the road, the city lights blurring past us. My heart pounded with every second that passed. Ethan is barely holding on, his breathing weak. The sight of the blood that soaked the seat made my stomach churn with fear. As soon as we drove into the hospital building, the driver quickly parked the car and Ethan’s men wasted no time. They opened the doors and ran inside. Moments later, they returned with four nurses pushing a stretcher. The car door swung open and they carefully lifted Ethan out, placing him onto the stretcher. I jumped out right after, grabbing his hand as they wheeled him inside. His fingers were ice-cold. “Ethan, stay wit
Sonia I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Ethan. Like, Ethan is here to save me? It felt like a dream. My heart pounded as relief flooded through me. I have lost all hope of escaping Daniel but Ethan is able to find me. How did he even find this place? Well, that is a question for another day. But then, my relief turned into fear when I saw his right arm wrapped in a bloody soaked cloth. He was hurt. I wanted to ask what happened but there was no time. I have to get away from Daniel first before he does something worse. One of Ethan’s men grabbed my arm, pulling me away. I was ready to run, to leave this nightmare behind but then, I heard a sharp groan of pain. I spun around and my whole body shivered in fear when I saw Ethan as Daniel stabbed him. I froze, my breath hitching as blood poured from his side, soaking his shirt. “No!” I screamed, trying to break free. I fought against the guard who was holding me but he tightened his grip. “It’s dangerous! We have to go!”
DanielPanic swept through the room as the sound of gunfire echoed. My heart raced as I reached for my gun, my eyes scanning the chaos. One of my men ran outside to check and quickly returned, his face white with fear. “What’s going on?” I asked, my voice calm as I tried to keep my frustration in check. “We’re under attack,” he said, almost breathless. Damn it! I knew it. This has to be Ethan's doing. I pulled my gun out, my mind racing. Marcus told me the security is tight so how did they get through? How did they get through my tight securities? I couldn’t waste time thinking about that now. I have to move fast. Gunshots rang out again, and panic spread like wildfire. People screamed, running in different directions, desperate to escape. The sound of bullets echoed through the air. I turned to Sonia, who was frantically searching for an escape before she could make a move. I grabbed her wrist. She struggled, trying to break free, but I held her tight. I grabbed he
Chapter 116 EthanThe man smirked. “Did you really think you could walk in here and go scot-free?” I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to stay calm. The rage inside me burned like wildfire but I can't afford to lose control. “I regret not killing you when I had the chance,” I said through gritted teeth. The man chuckled. “That’s why a man should never be too trusting.” His eyes darkened. “Now, hand over the boy or I’ll shoot.” My fingers secretly twitched over the gun in my back pocket. I could take him down in an instant but Jay is too close. If I made one wrong move, he could get hurt. I started to lower Jay to the ground. “No, Daddy!” Jay whimpered, clinging to me tightly. His small hands trembled as he gripped my shirt. His wide, terrified eyes pleaded with me. I cupped his face gently. “Jay, do you trust me?” Tears welled in his eyes but he nodded slightly. “Yes.” “Then do as I say.” Reluctantly, Jay loosened his grip. The man grinned. “That’s more like it.”
EthanI stormed Daniel’s mansion with my men, my body burning with rage. The moment his guards spotted us, they opened fire. "Fools," I muttered, my eyes contorted with rage. I didn’t hesitate as I pulled out my gun, aimed and fired, taking down the bastards who dared to stand in my way. They were nothing but obstacles... mere distractions. My goal is clear and that is to get hold of Daniel. I wanted to be the one to kill him, to put a bullet in his skull and watch as the light fades from his eyes but no, I have something more important to do and that has to do with finding Jay first. I clenched my jaw, my grip on my gun tightening. I turned to Dave, my most trusted man. “Take two of your men and get Sonia.” My voice was cold, unwavering. Dave gave me a curt nod. “And if you see Daniel,” I added, my voice dripping with venom, “kill him.” "Yes, boss." Dave didn’t need to be told twice. He understood. Daniel didn’t deserve to breathe, not after what he did to Sonia... Not
Daniel The sharp beeping of my alarm clock jolted me out of sleep. I groaned, blindly reaching out to silence it with a slap. The noise stopped but the lingering annoyance didn’t fade. Blinking, I forced my eyes open and glanced at the time, 6 AM. A slow smirk curled on my lips. "Today is the day."Without wasting time, I swung my legs off the bed and headed straight to the bathroom. The cold water jolted me fully awake and a rush of excitement coursed through me. I still can't believe that In just a few hours, Sonia would be mine and mine alone. As I stepped out of the bathroom, steam rolling off my skin, I spotted Marcus walking in. He carried an expensive suit in his hands, already dressed in his expensive attire. "Good morning, boss," he greeted me with a respectful bow before placing the suit on my bed. I nodded in acknowledgment, moving toward the mirror as I started getting dressed. "How are Jay and Alex?" I asked, fastening the buttons on my shirt. "Jay’s been
Daniel As we approached my mansion, the security checkpoint unexpectedly signaled my car to stop. My jaw tightened. They had never stopped me before. Everyone here knew who I was, so why now? Didn’t they recognize my car? A police officer knocked on the window. I let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing my temple before lowering the window. “Good evening, sir,” the officer greeted respectfully. I frowned, giving him a brief nod. This man is new... I have never seen him around before. “What is the meaning of this?” I asked, my voice cold. “Why are you stopping me?” “My apologies, sir,” he said, keeping his tone formal. “I’m just doing my job.” My blood boiled at his words but I forced myself to stay calm. I smiled coldly. “Alright. How can I help you?” “We just need to check your car’s particulars… and the trunk,” he replied. My heart pounded. The trunk. They can't check the trunk. If they did, they would find Alex's unconscious body that was stuffed inside. A
