Ethan

I went straight home as soon as I left the airport with Different unanswered questions running through my head.

I had to find out more about Sonia and Jay. I needed to know if Jay was my son even though Deep down, I felt a connection to him. His eyes, his confidence—it was like... staring at a younger version of myself.

But I needed proof. I couldn’t rely on feelings alone.

“You’re back already?” Celine’s voice jolted me out of my thoughts as I stepped into the living room. She looked up from the couch, gazing at me curiously.

Celine had been staying in my house for a month now, despite my refusal. She insisted that being closer would help us “reconnect,” especially since she noticed I was distant and no longer gave her the attention she craved

But it wasn’t my fault. I couldn’t stop thinking about Sonia.

“Yes, I canceled my flight,” I replied softly.

Her brows furrowed as she stood and walked toward me, "Why would you cancel such an important trip?"

Chapter 10 Ethan She laughed bitterly before gazing at me with her eyes contorted with rage, making my heart skip in fear. “The Sonia you knew no longer exists, Ethan. Don’t stop me again.” Her voice is cold and devoid of any emotion. And with that, she pulled her hand from my grip and walked away, her heels clicking against the polished floor while Jay held her hand tightly and gave me a questionable look. I stood there, frozen, my heart pounding like a galloping horse as her words echoed in my head. She didn’t care. Or worse, she didn’t remember me. But I'm not ready to give up. I grabbed my phone and dialed Dave's number. He picked up on the second ring, “Find out if Sonia is staying at this hotel,” I ordered. “I want confirmation within two hours.” “Yes, sir,” Dave responded quickly. I slipped my phone back into my pocket and walked into the investor's suit. ...... As the meeting began, I forced myself to focus but I couldn't, the thought of Sonia filled my mind. I c

Ethan "What's wrong, Ethan? You don't look alright." Celine asked, raising her hand to touch my cheeks.I gave her a cold glare and she quickly dropped her hand, gazing at me suspiciously. I felt like spanking her on her head for what she just did. I just hope Sonia would not misunderstand. I inhaled more air to control my anger. "We are in public, you shouldn't be doing this," I said through gritted teeth, trying to control the anger that was boiling inside me. She stared at me, her brows furrowed in confusion. “I shouldn't kiss you in public?” she asked, her voice tinged with irritation."We are engaged for God's sake, Ethan," I ignored her, my gaze darting back to where Sonia had been standing. But to my horror, she was no longer there, she's… gone. My heart raced, fear gripping me. Did she leave because of what she just saw? Did she think…? "Oh, Fuck! Fuck!!" I groaned in frustration, looking around to see if I would see her or Jay. Celine followed my gaze, looking arou

SoniaI ran as fast as my legs could carry me with my heart pounding in my chest. The sting of Ethan’s kiss still lingered on my lips, and the memory of it made my blood boil with anger. How dare he! How dare he kiss me after everything he did to me? How could I have even allowed him to kiss me with the same lips he used in kissing Celine? "Ahhh!!" I groaned in frustration, wiping my lips with the back of my palm.I stepped into the party hall and immediately searched for Jay with my gaze. I sighed softly when I saw him. He was seated exactly where I left him, his small fingers scrolling through his iPad. I quickly made my way towards him. “Jay, we need to go right now,” I said quickly, grabbing his hand without waiting for a response. He looked up, his innocent eyes questioning but he didn’t protest as he slid his iPad into his pocket. “Why, Mommy? Did something happen?” “Nothing happened, sweetheart,” I lied, forcing a smile. “I just feel tired.” Without giving him a c

Sonia The loud annoying sound of my alarm jolted me out of my sleep. I groaned as I angrily turned it off. I hate it when the sound has to wake me up in the morning like this, especially when I don't have enough night's sleep. Sometimes, I just feel like destroying it but I can't. It's part of the things that made me who I am today. I yawned, taking my time to stretch my limbs before glancing at the alarm clock. It was exactly 6:30 AM.I quickly got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom to freshen up after waking Jay. I don't want to be late since this is my first time going to the company and I need to make a first impression. The hotel room service brought our breakfast as soon as we finished taking our bath. By the time we finished eating our breakfast and dressing up, it was already 7:30 AM. I stood in front of the dressing mirror, adjusting my blazer. The tailored suit hugged my frame perfectly, giving me a sense of confidence I hadn’t felt in a long time.Today mark

Ethan “Sonia!” I called out, my heart pounding in my chest as I ran after her, trying to get her attention. But she didn’t stop. She seemed to be keen on ignoring me even when I saw Jay tapping her to look back. I hurried my footstep, not minding the shock on my employer's faces as all I wanted at the moment was to get Sonia to listen to me but before I could get to her, she had already stepped into the elevator with Jay. "Sonia! Sonia!!" I called out when I saw the elevator door closing behind her. “Damn it!” I cursed, hitting the wall in frustration, my heart thumping in my chest. "No! No!! No!!! I can't let her go, she needs to listen to me." I mumbled, trying to calm my racing heart as I rushed to my private elevator. As soon as I stepped into my private elevator, I quickly pressed the lobby button, my heart beating rapidly as I watched the numbers on the elevator screen descend. Each second felt like hours as I waited for the next one. After what felt like an eternity, the

Sonia "Please, drive faster." I urged the driver as I sat in the car with my heart racing in my chest. I can't wait to leave this country. Ethan must not find me. I looked at Jay who was sitting quietly beside me, watching me closely like a guard. He didn't ask any questions but I could see the confusion in his eyes. I smiled and pulled him into a hug, kissing his forehead. I sighed and stared out the window, watching the city blur past. I couldn’t wait to get to Europe. I needed to get far away from Ethan. My heart is heavy with worries as I think about yesterday. I still couldn't believe that Ethan was the president of King's corporation, the person I was supposed to be working with. The excitement of getting the contract from King's Corporation does not allow me to investigate them, to know their president. I have a strong feeling that all this was his plan but it won't work. I won't allow him to get close to me or my son. When I saw Ethan yesterday, the memories of the way

Sonia The sound of my alarm clock snapped me out of my sleep. I squeezed my eyes open, feeling both nervous and excited. Today is my first day at Johnson Group and I don't want to be late. I had set the alarm clock last night after I came back to the hotel with Jay. "Today is a new day," I muttered as I gazed at Jay who was sleeping peacefully beside me. His innocent face planted a glow in my heart. I could still remember how he jumped around with excitement yesterday at the airport when I told him that we would be staying back in London. I smiled and pecked him on the cheek before pulling the blanket off me and getting out of bed. A yawn escaped my lips while stretching my limbs as I made my way to the bathroom. The memories of the previous day rushed in as soon as I stepped into the bathroom and I couldn't help but smile. After thinking about Johnson Group yesterday and what they are ready to offer, I decided to accept it and I knew I had made the right decision. Shirley’s w

Sonia I know I haven't met her before, why would she speak to me like that? Why would she ask me to watch my back? I didn’t know her, yet her hatred was clear. A part of me wanted to shrug it off, but another part couldn’t stop wondering why. I was so lost in my thoughts that I was startled when I heard from behind, "Don’t worry about her," I spun around and saw a lady, wearing a blue turtle neck gown, walking towards me with a friendly smile. She looked professional yet approachable, with her neatly tied hair and bright eyes. She stepped closer, lowering her voice as if she wanted to share a secret. "That’s Claire. She was standing in as the acting head before you arrived. You know, she always acts as the boss lady and She thought the president would make her the permanent head of the Design departments." She whispered. "Your arrival came as a shock to her," she giggled, smiling devilishly. I was stunned by her revelation. So, was that why she said that to me? Does she

Sonia I stood up, frozen for a moment as I tried to comprehend what was happening. The door creaked open and I saw Alex standing in the doorway. The moment I saw him, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. My body shook with relief and fear, and I collapsed into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. He caught me easily, his strong arms wrapping around me. “Sonia, are you okay? What happened? Are you hurt?” His voice was calm, but I could hear the tension in it, the concern that matched my panic. I nodded, my chest tight with emotion. “I... I'm fine, Alex. But... I didn't know what... Happen. I couldn't find my flash drive... And someone locked me in here. I don’t know who, but I think the person doesn't want me to make my presentation." My voice cracked as I tried to explain what had happened, but the words felt so jumbled in my head. " Shhh... It's okay, I'm here now." Alex pulled away and wiped the tears off my face. His touch was gentle, his eyes soft, but there was a fire in them too.

As Clare finished her presentation, I quickly fumbled through my bag to grab my flash drive. All my hard work was stored there, ready to go for my turn. I could already picture myself standing on stage, confidently presenting my designs. But then, I froze. The flash drive wasn’t there. Panic hit me like a tidal wave. Sonia I was very tired by the time I got home. My body ached with exhaustion, but seeing Jay playing happily with the Spider-Man bike brought a tired smile to my face. He zoomed around the living room, completely lost in his little world. “Mommy!” Jay’s eyes lit up the moment he saw me. He abandoned the bike and ran straight into my arms, nearly knocking me over. I laughed softly, hugging him tightly. “Did you eat?” I asked, brushing his hair back. Jay shook his head. “I was waiting for you.” I sighed, touched by his words but also guilty that he had waited. “Alright, give me a few minutes to freshen up, and then we’ll eat together, okay?” Jay nodded and ran back to his bike, leaving me to drag my tired feet upstairs. After a quick shower, I changed into something more comfortable and headed downstairs. The smell of food greeted me as I stepped into the dining room, and I found Caro setting the table. “Thank you, Caro,” I said, taking a seat. She smiled. “You work t

I dragged myself to the bathroom, splashing cold water on my face, hoping it would jolt me awake or at least wash away the lingering fear that clung to me but it didn't. I was dressing up after taking my bath when my phone buzzed. It was a message from a private number. Again? I hesitated before picking it up, my fingers trembling slightly as I checked the screen. “Watch your back, Sonia.”I shivered, my body trembling with fear as the phone nearly slipped from my hands. I'm sure this message was from the same number that called me yesterday at the office.I clutched the phone, my mind racing. The sound I heard at the office, the door creaking open before Alex arrived flashed in my memory. I had convinced myself it was nothing, just my nerves playing tricks on me. But what if it wasn’t? This is the company that had been stealing contracts from me, the company that thought they could double-cross me in the business world. I can't wait to see the man behind this. I'm ready to tear him apart if he doesn't give a genuine reason. My phone buzzed. It was Dave, sending me the company’s address again, but I didn’t need it. I am here already. I adjusted my tie and pushed through the glass door open. The receptionist immediately stood and greeted me politely, her voice slightly trembling. “Good morning, sir. Ethan I sat at the head of the table, staring blankly at my workers who were making reports. Today is the end of the month general report with the heads of departments and they are here to give their report. The voices around me blurred into the distance as my mind drifted back to Sonia. I couldn’t stop thinking about the way she had looked at me yesterday after asking if I was still engaged with Celine. Her eyes were searching mine, desperate for answers I couldn’t give. Her question haunted me. I froze when she asked. I wanted to deny it, to tell her that Céline didn’t mean anything to me anymore, but the words wouldn’t come out. I saw the hurt, the disappointment in her eyes and the look in her eyes when I stayed silent... it shattered me, it broke my heart into pieces. “What do you think, sir?" I hung up and set the phone down, but the uneasy feeling in my chest only grew stronger. Something didn’t feel right. My heart thumped in my chest as I stared at the door, my ears straining to catch any other sounds. Tina had told me I was the only one left in the office, so who could be out there?
