He had his head down. “And that I just… I could only think about them and how much I would be disappointing them, I mean…” He babbled, his face a portrait of his thoughts. He expressed so much pain and regret, like a completely dismayed and lost man, that you could easily see how much he was suffering from it all. “All I could think about was apologizing, Lilie…” He was looking at me now. “I'm tired of being your disappointment, I'm tired of making you so unhappy.”

I swallowed hard at his words, holding back the urge to cry. I was aware of how much it affected him, but apparently I had no idea how much he was suffering.

“I'm so sorry, Jensen,” I told him at that moment of such tension, and his deep words made me sad too.

But he was denying it. “Please don't be,” he said. “I don't want you to feel bad about this because I deserve everything I'm going through; I deserve this suffering.”
