After thinking that, Cali could not help but feel a strong sadness in her chest. Suddenly her hand started shaking. She really felt bad.

It was like those thoughts had hijacked her conscience, and when she came to. Before she could realize it, Cali was crying, and the canvas was ready.

The Little one appeared in that happy place as he was and would be a memory to always have. She really did not want to let the little puppy go. But wanting was different from needing.

It would be really difficult for her to keep it. She had no choice but to let it go.

Cali sighed. She then turned the canvas over and showed it to him. When he saw the painting, he wagged his tail as he understood what he was seeing, and without doing anything else, he continued with what he was doing.

He was a very independent dog. Put the canvas back in its place and walked to my bed. That activity had taken her two hours. Maybe it was time to relax and see what she could find on the internet.

And they were all great ideas. But for some reason, Cali didn’t feel like getting involved.Sitting on the floor, she saw the little one coming toward her, which seemed curious. But she hadn’t called him. Before she could react, the little one had already started clinging to her. It was like asking for attention, caressing her, and at that moment, she realized that she was crying.Cali wiped the tears away. She was not surprised. For some reason, she had this talent of crying without knowing it.It was like she was so immersed in her own thoughts that they took her away from the things to feel, and this little boy could know it before she did. That made her happy and sad at the same time. Won’t it be nice to be able to keep this little one forever? Our connection was real, and caressing him, she felt the pain of being displaced from a place that she really liked, the tears took on meaning, and her chest began to hurt. Hug the little one, and with him next to her, Cali vents the terrib

Cali’s life was in a predicament, and at that moment, she was crying for a dog that was never mine. While Cali was crying, a person passed in front of her suddenly stopped. The person looked at her and said, “The world seems dark, but give it a try and see how it improves.”What a stupid way to speak, Cali thought. At the time she was there, there was no way she could see things optimistically, she didn’t know what to think, and when she looked up she saw that he was an older man, maybe sixty years old, his eyes and they had a clear smile and Cali thought. This dude is vulnerable. This disease first attacks those of his age how he can be so calm when the planet itself opened a season in his head.He offered Cali a gloved hand to get up, and she, without taking it, stood up when he saw her get up alone. He said, “How considerate even though I don’t think you’re sick?”Another person who read her intentions with ease, she saw it, and with the greatest honesty that she could conjure, she

“How did you know I had the dog here?”“I saw you taking it out of the alley, honestly. If you hadn’t arrived before me, I would have grabbed it myself.”Cali smiled in total defeat.Mr. Timothy then reached out and then held her shoulder. He was looking at her when he spoke with a small smile, “You did the right thing. Even though you are terrible at hiding things, you still have the dog food right there.”Cali was still not sure what happened, but one thing was for sure, at least Mr. Timothy was not mad at her, right? With her confused expression, Mr. Timothy laughed, and then he pointed to the place in her apartment where she had forgotten the dog food.“Good job. Next time you talk to me, it will be easier,” he said teasingly. And smiling, he withdrew. That was a sign to learn that not everything is what it seems.Cali was shocked, and everything that had happened today drastically changed her perspective. She calmly lay down on the bed to think about what she could do, but nothin

People were not sure what it was about, but rumors said that it was a gang war that was raging in the streets.Who the hell is going to start a war in the middle of a pandemic? Things got out of control fast, and she immediately ignored that news. It was perhaps the worst thing to watch at the times of already surviving society. She could not comprehend how this type of person was even doing these things at the worse time. In contrast, as the day went by, she saw a movie with Samuel, the photographer. They both saw it in their house, and they commented on several things, not that it was usual, but it was an entertaining experience. The pandemic’s good thing is that one did not need to make excuses if one did not want to see a person. Everyone was a bit obsessed with the sky and video calls. But she really couldn’t understand how much they would have to talk. No one was doing anything. Everyone was at home about what they might want to tell each other. As the movie progressed, Samuel

And everything with him would be fine from now on. He, like her, had been through so much that believing that things were working out with him was a source of hope. She then looked at the photo for a long time, and then she could not help but let out a wide smile.Cali then thought that maybe one day she could have her own dog.Calmly she got up to lean out the window. Cali then looked at Samuel’s apartment for a while. She was staring at it as if waiting for him, but she knew deep down that he was not there. She blew out some air, and then she looked in all directions, and something on the street caught her attention.A lucky man had a box and was taking it back to the alley where the little boy had been abandoned. She could not believe it, again someone did the same thing in that place, what happened to people? They did not understand that dogs have feelings. She found herself talking like the supermarket lady, and Cali went down to the street with indignation. She wasn’t quite sure

“Dear God, Aston! I am beginning to think of your plan to dethrone the devil as the prince of darkness. This place is as dark as the vanta black and as cold as the devil’s heart,” Steve said suddenly at the moment he entered Aston’s room.Unbuttoning his blazer, he sat on the only vacant chair in the room facing the rather unfazed Aston, “Need I remind you that the world—outside this abode of yours—is still beautiful and would be delighted to be graced with your presence.”For the first time since Steve entered Aston’s room, he turned his gaze away from the slightly opened window where he’s spent most of his time peeking out into the universe of form to look at the only person who seemed to understand him better than anyone else.“Have you ever felt the world is against you? That even mother nature laughs at your misfortune?” Aston said with a pallid and toneless quality to his voice. He walked away from the window where he had been standing for what seemed like forever to take a seat

He didn’t talk to anyone, and he didn’t let anyone in except, of course, Steve. At that time, Steve had spare keys to Aston’s house, and every room in the houseSteve walked behind Aston, giving him a comforting squeeze on his shoulder. “I need you back, man. We all need you back.”He sat back on his seat, resting his upper body weight on the table. “What if we find you another muse? It’s not impossible.”At that, Aston’s ears perked up, and he felt he wanted to hear what his friend had to say.“How about we enroll you in an art class, eh? Eh?’ Your interest and love for art steamed from your first art class in primary school, so what if it’s going to work the second time?” Steve supplied.Aston wondered what his friend was on about. He was a professional artist who painted realistic paintings, so why in the world would he enroll in an art class?!He should be the one teaching art students. Obviously, Steve must be joking or possibly high on something.“You are joking, right?” Aston a

“Hmm,” he responded groggily, still unaware of where he was or who was talking to him.Stella didn’t know what to do. Should she drive him home or take him to her place? She wanted a night of fun, but she knew she couldn’t just leave Aston there. So much for a night of fun, she thought. With much struggle, she was able to get Aston into her car and drive him to her place. She took him to her room and threw him on the bed, struggling to catch her breath after the entire energy-draining job she had just done.Aston weighed almost double her own weight, and she experienced the occasional loss of breath while getting him into her car, into her apartment, and up into her room. She stood there, taking in the piece of art that sprawled out on the bed. If only he would just notice her; if only he would just see her as a woman and not just his agent. She longed for his touch; she longed to be with him, but he never saw her even though she had been loyal to him in every way.‘’Sasha,” he murmur

She knew she was. She made heads turn, and her presence alone could make even the strongest man weak to his knees. Single men, dating, married, poor or rich all wanted her, but she went for Paul thinking he was the saint he portrayed himself to be.She could have said no, but she was confused. He might change, she thought, but now he wasn’t going to.He proved that over and over again. Dorothy got tired but didn’t know how to break up with him, and she was grateful he was finally gone, although she didn’t like the circumstances surrounding that fact.“Here is your tea,” she said as she placed the cup of tea on the table before Aston in his studio. She took a few sips of hers before placing her cup on the table too. “The weather outside is beautiful today.”“Yes. Yes, it is,” Aston confirmed, although his eyes never left Dorothy. “How about we go somewhere else while this dries?” he suggested.“Sure.”Together with their teas in their hands, they walked out of the studio. Instinctively

Stella observed the interaction between the two, and once again, she knew she had lost Aston to Dorothy because he never looked at her the way he was looking at Dorothy, and that spoke volumes.Stella stood up and straightened out her dress.“I’ll check on you later, Aston, and nice to meet you, Dorothy,” she said with a smile and walked towards Steve. They bid each other farewell, and she left the room.Steve sat down in the chair Stella had just left vacant, crossing his arms over his chest again. He said with a strange emotion in his voice, “You mentioned something about you thinking Paul would change. Has he done something like this before?”Dorothy let out a heavy sigh before replying, “Yes. Yes, he has. Many times.”“Will you be able to testify against him in court?” Aston asked as calmly as he could.“Yes, I will. I think I’ve had enough of him,” she finalized.“Well, I admire your courage, my lady,” Steve commended, further encouraging Dorothy. “By the way, did you meet the pa

‘’We caught this young woman trying to force her way into the ward, and we suspect she might be part of the paparazzi,” the first police officer answered.Steve observed Dorothy noting that she looked familiar then he remembered her. ‘It’s fine, boys. Let her through. The police officers released her arms, and Dorothy threw them a disdainful look, then sent a grateful one Steve’s way.He opened the door for her, and she walked in, thanking Steve with a smile.Steve closed the door with a gentle click and faced Dorothy. “He’s right this way. I’m not supposed to say this, Dorothy, but he’s been expecting you.”Expecting her? Did he want to see her? Did this have something to do with her, or did he just want to see her? She wished it was the latter.Wait, this is Steve, Aston’s best friend and the owner of ‘From Our Hearts’ gallery, but how did he know her?Steve seemed to sense her conflicting thoughts. He sighed and then said, “I can assure you that there’s nothing to fret about, and w

She opened her eyes and brought her fingers up to see them coated with her juices— and Aston hair she had been supposedly pulling happened to be her shower curtain. She just fantasized about Aston pleasuring, but it was better than anything she had ever had with Paul, and the best part —she didn’t regret it.She wanted more of it. She wanted to make it real, so much that she was started to became inpatient and frustrated. The reality of her situation dawned on her when she got out of the shower. She stared at the ring on her finger, and for the first time, she felt trapped. The ring became heavy on her finger, and it began to feel like a heavy burden on her. She slipped the ring off her finger and placed it on the drawer bedside of the bed.Suddenly, she wasn’t sure she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Paul. She closed her eyes to picture Paul in her life as she had always done, but this time, Paul was replaced with Aston. And that moment, it became apparent to her that she w

Dorothy turned around to see Paul standing there, arms folded across his chest and his eyes shooting daggers at Aston, who ignored him, by the way.“So I’ll call you and let you know how it goes, okay?” Aston asked while looking at Dorothy, who nodded excitedly like a kid.Aston smiled and then replied, “Bye Dorothy, and take care of yourself.”“Okay!. Bye Aston, and thanks for visiting. It really means a lot,” Dorothy said, as she walked him to the door.He stopped for a moment and took a look at Paul, who was still standing in the doorway.“And you too, Paul. It was nice to meet you,” she added, and with that, he walked out of their flat without waiting to hear Paul’s grunt of a response. Not wanting Paul to ruin her mood, Dorothy hopped past the grumpy Paul happily to their bedroom, humming a song. The only thing in her head was that her art was going to be at an exhibition– something she never expected to happen. For the rest of the day, Dorothy was in high spirits humming a favor

Dorothy turned around with a smile. “Hello Mr and Mrs Harris. Wonderful weather we have today, yeah?”“Absolutely,” Mrs. Harris chirped while Mr. Harris only nodded.“Let’s go in,” she said to Aston leading the way. “How do you like your tea?” Dorothy asked as they entered her flat, locking the door behind them.“Anything is fine, thank you,” he replied with a smileDorothy walked to the kitchen, and moments later, the sound of a kettle whistling was heard, followed by cabinets opening and closing.Aston took this time to observe the interior decor of the flat. It was an average-sized flat with clean white walls decorated with prints of beautiful paintings.Different artifacts, frames, flower vases, and books sat well arranged on the shelf.Wine-colored drapes framed the windows, and the inner lace curtains remained drawn, allowing the sun rays to enter, casting a golden sheen into the living room. The decor was simple yet beautiful and welcoming. This reminded Aston of the typical co

“Oh, thank you so much. You have no idea how much this means to me. And believe me, when I say coming from you means so much more,” she said.“I thought I was doing horribly, so I stopped painting for a while. I only began painting again when I came across your works in a gallery. I was in awe of hyperrealism. It was magnificent, and I knew I wanted to know how to paint like you,” she explained excitedly. “Meeting you here might be the best thing that has happened to me this year.”It was Aston’s turn to feel flattered, and he did ever so much. He had received a lot of compliments, but in a weird way, Dorothy appreciating his art made him feel he did something for someone, and it made him feel good.“I’m sure you’ll learn a lot from this class, and I can give you pointers if you want.”“You know I didn’t exactly enroll for this class. Mrs. Michael is my aunt, and she just allows me to join in and last week was my second time here.”“That makes sense. I didn’t think you paint. I though

For heaven’s sake, he wasn’t some teenager going through hormonal changes, so why couldn’t he stop thinking about Dorothy’s body and, even worse, smiling and blushing at the memory.‘’I guess we can now deduce my idea wasn’t laced with foolishness after all,’ Steve said with the smug look still on his faceAston scoffed, rolling his eyes at him, and said, “Don’t get ahead of yourself. I am still not convinced the class will do me any good.”“We’ll see about that, mate. We’ll see.”The whole weekend felt like torture to Aston. He longed to see Dorothy again, and it seemed the weekend was taking too long to end.Everything was confusing to him; what he was feeling about Dorothy and why he was feeling that way didn’t make any sense to him, but he just wanted to see her again. When Monday finally came, Aston could hardly wait till 3 pm when classes started, and by 12 pm, he was already at the building waiting for Dorothy to show up, but she didn’t.Class started, and she was still nowhere

In one swift moment, a bang was heard, and the whole dining table came crashing down, sending a wave of shock throw Dorothy. She had seen this happen so many times, but she could never get used to it. He promised to change. He said he was going to be better, but after two years and nothing had changed. The last time, it was the TV that suffered it, which took a while to replace, and now, the dining table had also felt the impact of Paul’s fist. The table was ruined; dinner was ruined too.“You love being a whore, eh? You love letting different men run their hands all over your body under the guise of art, right?” He barked the vile words pacing the dining room. The words made her feel she had just been prickled with over a hundred pins.“I am not a whore, Paul!. I am not! I love art, and you know it!” She yelled at him.He scoffed before he said, “Oh c’mon. You’re just using art as a cover-up. You enjoy the way these so-called artists of yours touch you.”He then grabbed her shoulder
