"I'm going to tell Jeremy how I feel about him tonight," Elena announced to her best friend, Matthews as they got down from his car, which he had parked a few blocks away from their school.
He frowned immediately. "So, what are you saying? You're finally going to reveal your feelings for—Are you even listening to me Elena?"
"I am, I am." She said avoiding his eyes. "I'm just going to pretend like I'm not because I know you are going to disagree with me. But listen, I think he really likes me. I just feel like we have this connection-"
Matthews scoffed. "Really? Connection?" She shot him a look, rolling her eyes. He quickly raised his arms in defeat. "Sorry, sorry. But you...I just don't want to see you get hurt okay? What if he doesn't share the same feelings and you just end up embarrassing yourself?"
Elena smiled, shaking her head. "I know he shares my feelings, don't worry about me."
Matthews chose not to say anything else concerning that topic. It was pointless. He has known Elena since childhood, and one thing everyone knew was once she had made her mind, that was final—unless a miracle happened. He watched her type away on her phone as they headed up the school gates, he tried to see what exactly she was going through, but the bright light of the sun against the phone-screen prevented that. "Aren't you hurting your eyes?"
"No," she said, then looked up. "Hey, why don't you head to class, I have to stop by the principal's office."
"The principal's office? What did you do now?"
"I didn't do anything. You know how we had those teachers—parents meeting months ago?" Matthews nodded. "Well, my mum saw the principal and...they kinda hit it off."
"No."
"I'm not joking, I just found out today. She hasn't told me yet, but she went on a date with some guy last Saturday and I did catch the familiar scent of Mr Oscar's perfume, I just didn't know he was the one—till now." She squeezed her face in irritation, letting out an 'urrgh'. "I can't believe my mum is fucking the principal. What if they begin to really like each other and then get married, Mr Oscar would become my stepdad, my social life would be ruined."
Matthews rolled his eyes. "Don't be so dramatic, Elena. That only happens in the movies, besides Mr Oscar is amazing and what should matter more? Shouldn't it be your mum's happiness?"
"She could have found her happiness somewhere else, why does it have to be the principal dick? Anyways I have to go, she wants me to drop something for him. I guess this is their way of leaving hints for me, cowards, they should come out and tell me straight."
Matthews chuckled. "If they did, you would only freak out more." He pinched the bridge of her nose. "Wipe that pout off your face. Go drop your mum's package at the principal's office, you'll meet me at your locker."
She smiled. "Okay, see you." She proceeded to walk away. Matthews stood, watching her for a while. Elena was his best friend. They've known each other for years, but even with how well they got along, the two had almost nothing in common. He was an introvert, and likes to keep to himself. This has earned him some sort of mysterious reputation in the school, which for reasons he didn't understand made many girls attracted to him. What would forever remain a mystery to him was his true feelings for Elena, one he wouldn't even dare admit to himself.

Unlike other schools the principal's office wasn't in the same building as the school. It previously was, but six months ago when Mr Oscar was appointed as the new principal, lots of things changed. A new building was set up at the back of the school which became the principal's office.
She sighed as she stood facing the door, looking down at the wrapped box. She brought it close to her ear to shake and try and guess what it contained, but then the principal's voice stopped her.
"Are you going to come in, or do you just find great pleasure staring at my door?" Elena frowned looking up, and that's when she saw the CCTV camera staring down at her. Her cheeks flushed immediately, she bit her lips in embarrassment and proceeded in.
He was behind his desk as expected. Elena would admit, she once had a crush on him. But then she found out he was vegetarian, it was a major turn off for her. She had nothing against vegetarians, but she once went on a date with one, and he spent the entire evening staring at her like she was some cannibal. Mr Oscar was your definition of what a gentleman should look like, the type that would open doors for women, bring them flowers and make them moan with certain skills in bed. She wasn't surprised her mother fell for him.
"Good afternoon, Mr Oscar," she greeted. "My mother wants me to deliver this to you."
"Calm down, what's with the rush?" He chuckled. Elena hated that, she didn't want him laughing. She knew exactly what he was trying to do, trying to get closer to her so things wouldn't be so awkward when the cat came out of the bag.
"Nothing. Here's the package." She walked over to his desk, placing it on his table. "I'll be going back now."
"Wait-"
"You'll never become my dad!" She snapped, surprising herself.
Oscar looked taken aback by this. "Ok... Where's this coming from?"
She took a step back and crossed her arms below her chest. "I'm not stupid and you two aren't exactly great at hiding stuff. I know you've been seeing my mother."
He was silent for a while, watching her. Then he sighed and relaxed back in his chair. "I guess teens of this century are smarter than we give them credit for. Elena, listen your mum and I, we...we have genuine feelings for each other-"
Elena scoffed, interrupting him. "Not true, she doesn't know what she's feeling. Whatever you think are genuine feelings she has for you is because she just misses the absence of a man in her life."
"It's more than that and-"
"No, I won't listen to this." She interrupted again. "In fact, why am I having this conversation with you, you're just my principal. When I get home, I'm going to speak to my mum. I can't believe this," she muttered the last part to herself as she walked back to the door.
"Elena, wait-" But she quickly rushed out, slamming the door behind her.
"Fuck, they aren't even married yet and he's already calling me like I'm his daughter," she said as she walked away, well aware that he might have heard her. "I suspected, but God was praying that he would deny it. Arrgh!" She let out a frustrated scream, which turned to a real one as she had hit her leg on a stone. "Why?" She cried out, nearly falling to the ground, but managing to catch her balance quickly.
"Are you okay?" Elena froze when she heard that voice. "Elena, did you hurt yourself?" Jeremy asked, jugging up to her.
Jeremy. He was her knight in shining armor, just after Matthews who always stuck to her like a glue. She's had a crush on him ever since he moved into town back in middle school, but he had never paid interest in her, not in the way that she wanted at least. Elena believed they were meant to be, so much that she connected the little details they both shared as a sign that they were meant to be. His blue eyes, the blonde hairs and even when they shared the same type of pen in class, it was destiny.
"Elena? Are you okay?"
"Oh yes," She lied. "I'm fine. Uh...w-what are you doing here?" She brushed her blonde locks back, trying her best to do it in a cool manner, but the wind was against her as they came back to slap her in the face. She cringed internally, almost biting her lips off.
"The principal sent for me," he said. "Since you're okay, I have to go now." He moved to walk away, but stopped and faced her again. "You'll be coming for the party on Friday right?"
She nodded her head quickly. "Of course, will Elena ever miss a party?" She winked at him.
He chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright then, I've to go now."
"Ok, bye bye." She waved at him, but he already had his back to her. Elena sighed as she went over the conversation they just had. "I hope I didn't say anything stupid." She jumped a little as she remembered that Matthews was waiting for her and hurried back to the school's building.
~~~
"One more minute and I would think maybe it's you and the principal that has something going on," Matthews joked as she approached, in reply, she slapped his chest. "Ow, sorry sorry, I didn't mean that," he said, laughing lightly, brushing his long hair back.
"Keep laughing." She opened her locker and shoved her bag inside. "Anyways, he confirmed it, so I know what I'm saying."
"He did?" He asked, his green eyes widening in surprise. Matthews' eyes were one of the things that made Elena start talking to him when they were kids. She had read a story about a green eyed fairy, and when she saw Matthews days later, she had ran up to him and asked that he become her friend. "That's shocking..."
"Yeah...but on the bright side, I came across Jeremy." She beamed immediately after that. "You're coming with me to the party on Friday, right?"
"Do I have a choice? You're going to drag me there anyways."
"Yeah..." She leaned forward and laid a kiss on his cheeks, then went back to getting her books from the locker.
A smile was growing on Matthew's face, but it was quickly washed off when he saw Jeremy walking down the hall. Matthews didn't hate Jeremy, or dislike him, but he couldn't say he liked him either, he stood on that tiny line that separated the two and that was all because of Elena. But Jeremy wasn't who caught his attention this time around, but the girl who was walking beside him. "Who's that?" He whispered but Elena heard him clearly.
She wiped around to see what Matthews was referring to. A little gasp escaped her lips. "Who the hell is that chick, and why are they holding hands?"
"I don't know. Maybe his sister?"
"Sister? Matthews, Jeremy is an only child, that's not his sister." She let out a hiss. "Look at her smiling at him with her awfully-too-perfect teeth." As the last word left their lips, Jeremy looked over to their side and gave a small wave, but his attention went back to the girl beside him even before Elena could return it back. This really annoyed her. "We've been friends for years and he's never looked at me, or held me that way. Who's prettier?"
"Who's prettier?" Matthews asked in disbelief. "No Elena, we are not doing this now. Are you really going to compare yourself to another girl because of a boy?"
She sighed. "Let's just go to class, she's probably a friend...I hope so. Anyways, Jeremy and I have a connection. In fact, he asked if I would be coming to the party. Who knows? Maybe we'll even get together and after that go to his house?"
"Wonderful." Matthews increased his pace, walking faster and leaving her behind. She rolled her eyes, staying behind to grab her books.
Matthews chewed the end of his pen as he watched Elena pay to read a manga in class which she hid behind the history text book they were all supposed to be reading. He felt someone was watching him and looked around. He sighed when he saw who it was and went back to his textbooks. It was Tanya, his biggest admirer.
"Shouldn't you be reading?" He whispered to Elena."I am reading, Matthews. I also..." She passed when the classroom door opened and Jeremy walked in with the same girl standing behind him. Elena was so shocked to see her again, her manga slid to the floor. "Jeremy," the teacher said. "So you finally show your face, I thought you weren't going to make it to this class.""I'm sorry," he apologized. "But I got excused by the principal. This is Freya," he introduced the new girl who stopped forward with a shy smile. "She's new.""I see." The teacher nodded. "Well Freya, welcome. As you can see, everyone else is reading their book. You should join them because in ten minutes we're having a test and before you speak, no, being a Jew student doesn't clear you, you'll also partake in the test.""But, she's new, you can't do that-""It's fine Jer." Elena raised an eyebrow at that. "I'll write the test.""Good. Now you two go take a seat while I prepare the test questions." She headed straigh
"Woah, it's crowded in here," Matthews commented. "I really should have stayed back home." He had later changed his mind and had shown up at Elena's house later, all dressed up. He said he was to make sure she didn't do anything stupid, and it had almost led to a fight, but Silver had managed to stop it."Exactly how I like—Oh, look, there's Jeremy!" She announced. "Quick, tell me, how do I look?""Good." Elena had taken extra time in her appearance that day. Not just in her outfit, but everything. She had shaved and 'prepared' herself because she felt it would be the day she finally entered Jeremy's room. "Smell, my neck," she said to Silver. "Is it bad?""It's okay?""Okay?" She palmed her head. "Dude, I want him to be seduced by my appearance, not think I'm 'okay' and also—Oh, he's coming here, act normal!"Matthews sighed. "I'm going to go use the bathroom.""Better," Elena said, grabbing Silver's hands as she walked to go meet Jeremy. Matthews stared at her for a while, before t
CHAPTER FOURGetting Elena out of the bar was even a bigger hassle than paying for her drinks. She apparently even took more than a hundred dollar bill worth of drinks but the bartender thought she was pretty so he was fine with a hundred dollar bill. The thought process had absolutely annoyed him and insisted on paying for every single drink that Elena had taken.She kept saying all sorts of things until they reached his place and Matthew threw her onto his bed. There was no way he could have taken Elena to her house, her mom would throw her a fuss and make a big deal out of it, something that Elena absolutely hated. Elena was still talking about God only knows what while still on the bed.“Matt” she called him and Matthew rolled his eyes while rolling his shoulders.“What is it?” he asked, irritated.“Do you think I’m pretty?” she asked, staring widely at him and Matthew for once found himself no words.When Elena had tried to force him to attend Jeremy’s party, he had bluntly refus
Matthew woke up the next day with a new vision. As he prepared for school that morning, everyone noticed that he was more elated, leading to his mother asking him what was happening.“It’s nothing, Ma; you can’t understand,” he said back to her, throwing his bag on his shoulder as he downed the cereal prepared for him.“Have a nice day!” he yelled to her as he walked out of the door.Last night was one of the best in his life, and in his head were all the things that would happen. After the hot sex between them, they had both fallen asleep amidst the sheets, their arms sprawled on each other. The last thing he remembered before succumbing to a deep sleep was placing his lips on her forehead and kissing her. He didn't even know when she woke up and left his room, the pieces of her clothing he had torn in anger were also nowhere to be found.As he drove on the narrow road, a huge smile on his face, he connected his phone to the car, playing one of their favourite songs as he hummed to i
“What's wrong?” Elena yelled out.Tears were full in her eyes, and the whole class was staring at her.The girl who had tapped her was taken aback. She just wanted to tell her something and had not expected that reaction.“What?” Elena asked again, eyeing her as a low hiss escaped her lips.“Don’t bother,” the girl said before walking off.Elena hissed out again, bowing her head back when she heard the teacher's voice. Why can't she just have a little time to herself before all of them ruin everything? Sniffing to herself, she fumbled for the handkerchief that was tucked inside her skirt, bringing it out to wipe her face before raising her head.“Fuck!” she muttered to herself as she saw Mrs. Sarah staring directly at her.“You dont mind standing up, Ms. Elena,” she said, a mischievous smile on her face as she said it.Elena was not even interested in whatever had to happen in the class today, and without a reply to the teacher, she picked up her books and walked out of the class.“Ta
“I’ll do anything. Everything to be friends with him.” Sarah said, standing up from her seat and shuffling her feet towards Elena.“Alright then,” Elena said, dumping her drink bottle into the dumpster as she eyed Sarah.She darted her eyes to where Freya and Matthew were seated before to find they'd stood up. Huffing the thought of where they might have gone away from her head, she looked back at Sarah, who was still in front of her.“Let’s go,” Elena said as she turned towards the cafeteria exit.She didn't know exactly what she would do to Sarah and how she’ll get her close to Matthew, but she knew she would do it. Matthew was a very picky person. He rarely talked to anyone. Elena could say that apart from her, he barely had any other friends. Well, and Silva too. And for Sarah to like him and approach her, she had done the right thing.“Where are we going to start from? Are we going to see him now?” Sarah asked, almost colliding with Elena.Elena stopped in her tracks, turning to
“What!” Elena said, deep lines edging her forehead as she watched Matthew walk off.What had she said? Was she wrong in bringing Sarah for him? She just wanted the best for him. Since she had started walking with Matthew, she was sure that he had never dated any girl, nor had sex or even done anything. He only followed her around like a puppy; they went to school together, came home together, and followed her for her shopping, which was nice. She enjoyed the times with him, but the sex had ruined everything, and if he found someone for himself, it could make everything go back to how things were before.“Matthew!” she yelled, shaking the thought that she had overdone it away from her head, and picked up her snacks.As she walked out of the kitchen, Sarah was still seated on the chair, this time, her attention was on her phone, and she was busy playing Talking Angela.“Dont worry. Just sit down here and act all pretty. I'll get him down, okay? He can be shy sometimes,” Elena said to Sa
The next day, Elena woke up early to her mother's yelling. She had left Matthew’s house late due to the discussions between him and Sarah. She didn't even get the hang of their conversation. She just saw they were so immersed when she wanted to get home. It even took time before she could dissect what they were talking about, only to find that it was some book game about their favorite authors.On the way home, Sarah said that Matthew had asked her if she wanted to hang out, and they might be hanging out together during lunchtime at school. Elena was more than pleased, and she had told Sarah to get to her house early tomorrow so they could both get to school together. But this morning, it was a different case entirely because her mummy was not having the hang of it.“Tell me, Elena, is it fun to embarrass your teacher or disrespect them? When did you even turn this way? Why would you just want to be a bully and make them report you everytime?” she yelled from downstairs.Elena grumbled
Daniella could almost curse at the lecturer who was teaching them. she had agreed to meet Theo by 2pmand it was already 2:34 but the lecturer refused to stop talking and continued teaching. Dani was getting annoyed every minute as the lecturer told stories.His phone rang beside him and he picked up the phone and started talking in hushed whispers. After a while, he turned to everyone in the class and wore a fake smile.“We will have to end today’s class here,” he said, and walking out of the class or rushing out of the class would be better. Dani flung her bag over her shoulders as she attempted to rush outside but someone blocked her way.“Hey Dani,” the guy said with a small smile and Dani sighed.“How may I help you, Adrian?” Dani asked and the guy smile.“Today is John’s birthday so we made a small party for him and invited a few people, I was wondering if you wanted to come,” Adrian said and Dani scoffed. John was in her department and one of the most popular guys at school but
Ava pursed her lips as she adjusted her camera lens. After she graduated from university where she had gone to study photography; she easily got a job that brought her a fat salary.Within months, her fame spread around the country for her expertise with the camera. Ava couldn’t help but be proud of herself. She started having a lot of shoots both inside and outside the country.But she had never expected that she would be hired to take model photos for Carl Wilson. Carl Wilson was a top star. He was an actor with numerous awards to his name. carl was also popular for his athletic prowess as he once won a medal for the country at the Olympics.Tall, handsome, and rich; he was totally an eye candy for women. Ava sighed as her assistant walked up to her.“Mr. Carl will be here in a few minutes,” he said and Ava nodded as she walked towards the chair and sat down before bringing out her phone.She smiled upon sighting Instagram pictures of Ria and Damien. She would be lying if she said s
Damien wiped his sweaty hands on his jeans as he drove into the garage. He turned off the car and sighed.“Are you that anxious to meet my mom?” Dani asked as Rai burst into laughter.“I’m not anxious just careful” Damien replied with a smile as they got out of the car.“Careful my feet” Dani sneered as she burst into laughter. Ria smiled at Damien as she took his hand.“Don’t mind Dani, my mom is not that scary” Ria said and Damien laughed.“I know right,” Damien said as they walked into the house.“Mom, good evening,” Ria said as she pecked her home.“I see you brought a friend,” Mrs. Mahmata asked with a small smile.“Yes,” Ria said with a smile.“Mom, this is my boyfriend, Damien. Damien, this is my mom” Ria said as Damien debated on which expression he was supposed to make. He ended up making a weird expression as he greeted Mrs. Mahamta.“Good evening ma’am” Damien greeted as Mrs. Mahmata narrowed her eyes at him. Damien could feel the sweat running down his back as Mrs. Mahmata
Ria twirled her pen as she turned to Damien “I was waiting for you to come back that’s why I haven’t filled out my application yet” Ria confessed.“Jason told me you hadn’t so I didn’t even collect my form yet,” Damien said and Ria smiled.“We think alike too much” Ria cooed and Damien pecked her before tapping her nose.“So which uni are you doing?” Damien asked and Ria shrugged.“I was about to ask you” Ria replied and Damien wriggled his eyebrows at Ria.“I’ll go anywhere you go” Damien replied and Ria chuckled as she opened her phone and scrolled through the list of universities.“What do you think about TAS?” Ria asked and Damien shrugged his shoulders.“Anywhere you want to go baby” Damien replied as Ria shook her head.“Bristol Univeristy then,” Ria said and Damien shrugged. They both brought out their forms and started filling them out. Damien filled his form with his right hand as his hands found Ria’s skirt. His hands went inside her skirt and Ria sucked in a breath as she
“It’s everywhere on the school forum,” Ava said as she scrolled her phone.Damien shrugged his shoulders as Ria fed him a fry “You know how active the school forum had become since Hazel became the president” Damien said and the girls burst into laughter.“Arianna Mahmata!” Zara yelled as she stormed into the cafeteria startling everyone. Ria frowned upon seeing Zara and Penny.“How shameless will you become? You stepped down from being the captain as if you wouldn’t do anything. What the hell did you tell the cheerleaders?” Zara asked as Ria slowly rose to her feet.“Shameless?” Ria asked as she stepped out of her seat.“If anyone should be asked who is shameless I think it should be the both of you. I thought you guys were my friends yet all along I was called a snake and a viper by my friends. I gave everything and did all a friend does and gives to her friend as a friend, I helped you every way I could but what did you guys do? You stabbed me in the back neatly” Ria said as she tu
Ria was the first to get to school the next day. She smiled sweetly at Ava who started clicking pictures of her immediately.“Girl you are glowing” Ava exclaimed and Ria laughed.“Is it because he asked you to marry him yesterday?” Ava asked with a smile and Ria’s smile grew wider.“Maybe, who knows?” Ria asked as they sat down.“Where’s Janet?” Ria asked as Ava scoffed.“She’s like you. if you can’t find her, you won’t see Jason” Ava replied and Ria laughed.Ria raised her head when she saw a shadow fall over her and she snickered seeing Gabriel. As Ria had said, his popularity had hit rock bottom after that day, his friends stopped talking to him, and he was also benched by the soccer team. If he didn’t play in any matches soon; it would really be hard for in to get into a soccer school and talk less of a top-notch one.He had no option but to seek out Ria again. They definitely had to date again even if it was for show. Gabriel gave Ria a small smile as Ria glared at him.“What do
Ria held Damien’s hand as they walked out of the old house. Ria took one last look at the house as they walked outside the house. Ria looked around and was surprised at the number of black cars in front of them.She easily recognized the dragon tattoo on the cars as the same one on Damien’s stomach. She allowed Damien to pull her towards one of the cars and the window was slowly wounded down.“Is it all taken care of?” a voice asked in the car and Damien nodded.“Yes, boss” Damien replied.“Hmmmmm,” the voice said.“Thanks, boss” Damien said his voice solemn.“Take care of yourself, Damien,” the voice said as the glass went up and the cars sped out of sight.“Who were those?” Ria asked and Damien smiled at her.“People you don’t need to pay attention to,” Damien said as he led Ria to the car and he drove off. Damien couldn’t express how he was feeling. He didn’t feel free, he was just calm and he tightened his grip on Ria’s hands as he drove toward his apartment.He had her beside him
Damien rubbed Ria’s back comfortingly as he pulled her along and walked after the burly men. Ria watched as they led them to another part of the fighting ring.The area was surprisingly well-lighted and bright. There were rows of burly men with weapons making Ria latch herself to Damien.“He’s inside,” One of them said as Damien pushed the door opened and stepped inside the room.It was a large spacious office and there was a fan rolling as Damien and Ria stepped into the room. Three men were seated on the sofa in the middle of the office.“Damien, have your seat,” one of them said with a smile and Damien sat down and pulled Ria with him.“Mr. Lee, I have fulfilled our part of the agreement. I have as well also repaid my father’s debt. Isn’t it time to let me go?” Damien asked calmly as one of the men laughed.“It’s hard to let one of our strongest fighters go just like that,” he said and Ria frowned as she looked at the man disgustingly.“Just like that? Viper, I fought for a year” D
Ria watched calmly as Damien wore his gloves. She had watched Damien fight two times after the first time he brought her to the underground ring and she knew how good he was. But considering that after today he wasn’t going to be fighting again; Ria felt weird about it.She knew these people weren’t going to let him go just like that but Damien had assured her that he was going to be fine so she couldn’t do anything about it. She could only pray in her mind.“Don’t look like that, I’ll really be fine” Damien said and Ria nodded as she dropped a small peck on his lips.Damien tapped her nose as they walked out of the room. Everyone was yelling at top of their voices. He walked into the ring and raised his hands at the referee who checked him and Damien turned to his opponent. It was a young man who was a few years older than him. Merely looking at him, Damien knew he was the real deal. He chuckled lightly; these people had finally pushed him to the wall.He walked at Ria who was lookin
