Dane's POV

"What color did it change to?" Amaya asked as she scarfed down the food we had brought her as if she were some kind of starved rabid animal.

She has not left Garret's side once. Every couple of hours, she would get up and give him more of that pain-reducer concoction she made. She was also rotating his blood in a way. She would take out a pint while pumping in a new one. If she couldn't fix it with magic, she hoped maybe she could with science. It wasn’t a terrible idea, but I felt that it was only buying him time and not necessarily making him better.

"It turned yellow, maybe a bit orange. It was like the sun was shining in the palm of my hand," I told her, holding my hand out and staring at my palm, remembering the sensation.
