Chapter SIXTY SEVEN

DAMON Point of View

I paced back and forth in my chambers, my mind racing with confusion. "What is Jonathan up to?" I muttered to myself. I stopped pacing and stood in front of the window, staring out into the night. "He's willing to sacrifice his own trusted man, just to get to me?" I thought aloud. "That's desperation." I turned away from the window and began pacing again. "Everyone knows how dreaded Jamel is. Jonathan must be playing a dangerous game indeed." As I paced, I couldn't help but think of Tyla. Where was she? Was she involved in Jonathan's plans somehow? What if they were both working together and Tyla was only pretending? I shook my head. Tyla would never betray Jessica and I. I stopped pacing and sat down on the couch, running my hands through my hair. "Think, Damon, think," I muttered to myself. I pulled out my phone and dialed Tyla's number, but it didn’t go through. I tried again and again, but she didn't answer. “Fuck!” I cursed under my breat

He turned back to me, a questioning look on his face. “Yes?" he asked. There was this glow in his eyes as though he was offended, but it quickly disappeared. "You're welcome to stay in our pack until you find somewhere else to go," I said. "You don’t have to leave right away if you don’t have anywhere to go.” The stranger's face lit up with gratitude. “Thank you," he appreciated. “Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for keeping me, and for feeding me for all these days.” I nodded as a smile suddenly appeared to my face. “You're welcome," I said. "Just be sure to keep out of trouble." The stranger nodded, and then he turned and disappeared into the night. I was smiling as I watched him walking away. I was happy that I was able to help him in the little way that I could. As soon as he was gone, my mind turned back to Jonathan. I knew he was responsible fo

CHAPTER SIXTY NINE THIRD Point of View Tyla's eyes scanned the cold, dark cell, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. She had been imprisoned for what felt like an eternity, and she knew she couldn't wait any longer. It was only a few days, but of course, it seemed like she had been there forever. She refused to eat or drink anything, knowing that the guards would try to drug her or poison her. Tyla knew that she needed to stay alert to be able to leave the place in peace. She was trying to map out her revenge plans, but it was not working out the way she wanted it to. Everything seemed to not work out for her. Her plans seemed foolish and useless. All of them! She wondered how Jonathan was doing. If it would be possible for the healer to get the poison out of him and heal him. Tyla prayed inwardly for Jonathan to survive. She had never thought she'd be in a situation where she'd be praying for his survival, but here she was. She always wanted him to die. Every day, she prayed fo

CHAPTER SEVENTY DAMON Point of View Seeing that she was a female made me weak, and I could not continue to torture her. I turned to my men and ordered that they let her be. "She'd be locked in there and starved until she confesses." She let out a sarcastic laughter. “I am not going to torture you by hurting you physically, but you are going to confess soon.” “You can’t win, Damon,” she said to me. I nodded, biting my lip. “It’s more intriguing that you know my name, miss.” I dismissed the rest of the warriors while I asked the dungeon guards to pull her into the strongest and most unhealthy dungeon and leave her there. “Make sure she does not get any food or water until she’s ready to speak.” The guards nodded, taking mu order. As I walked back to my room, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. The fact that the captive was a female had caught me off guard, and I found myself questioning everything. I had never expected that she would have been a female. Their mask and the heav

CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE JONATHAN Point of View I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was in the healer's chambers, surrounded by the familiar scent of herbs and medicine. But how did I get here? I tried to sit up, but this heavily feeling of dizziness and weak bones consumed me, forcing me back onto the bed. I closed my eyes, trying to remember what had happened. But my memories were hazy, fragmented. I couldn't recall anything beyond a vague sense of danger, of fighting. And then nothing. The healer, Elara, bustled into the room, a small smile escaped her lips when she saw that I was awake. The smile seemed like, she thought i would not survive, but at the same time, she trusted her skills. "Jonathan, how are you feeling?" she asked with a soft tone. I hesitated because I didn't know how I was feeling. I didn't even know what had happened to me. "I'm... I’m …okay," I stammered, trying to sound convincing. Elara's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. “Don't try to

CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO DAMON Point of View I sat in my room, consumed by the feeling of frustration that bathed me. Everything was getting to me - the captive's silence, Jonathan's secrets, the feeling of being kept in the dark. I thought about Jonathan, and how he seemed to be intentionally frustrating me. Why was he doing this? What did he hope to achieve? What did I do to deserve this from Jonathan? I felt like I was going to explode, my emotions seemed to be taking over me. I needed to talk to Jonathan, to see if I could get some answers out of him. Maybe, just maybe, I could convince him to stop whatever game he was playing. I needed to try, at least. I was tired of it, and I would swallow my pride and beg him to stop. I stood up, deciding to take action instead of sitting around all day sulking. Jonathan must have a price. Everyone had one. I started getting dressed, my movements quick and purposeful. I was going to go see Jonathan, and I was going to get some answers. Finally dr

CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE TYLA Point of View I lay on the cold, damp floor of my cell, my body wracked with a constant fever. The heat in the dungeon was oppressive, making it hard for me to breathe. The whole environment of the prison did not sit well with me. Not even a bit. I had been here with no end in sight. I soon started to hear some news. Jonathan had awakened from his coma after what seemed like forever. A spark of hope ignited within me. Maybe I would finally be out of here sooner than I thought. All of that hope didn’t stay with me for long. Yes, the hope was short lived. The next day, I heard the guards talking about Jonathan again. They were talking about the fact that he had lost his memory. I let out a groan. That was not even goodnews. I was not sure what this meant for me. The only way to know was to speak with Jay and find out what was happening or what my faith would be. I called out to the guard, my voice weak but determined. The guard came to the door. But before I could say anything, the guards moved in, their eyes fixed on me with a mixture of anger and warning. They grew their fangs and their claw, snarling and growling as they approached me. The rogues I had hidden nearby, however, sprang into action. They emerged from their hiding places, their eyes fixed on the guards, and their movements fluid and menacing. The atmosphere was electric with tension, and it seemed like a spark could set off a full-blown battle. But then Jay raised his hands, his palms facing outward, and his eyes locked on the guards and the rogues. "Everyone, stay back!" he shouted, his voice firm and authoritative. "No one intervenes. This is between Damon and me." The guards hesitated, their eyes flicking to Jay and then back to me. The rogues, too, seemed uncertain, th

For the second day in a row, I found myself walking away from my training session. My mind was preoccupied with the mystery surrounding Jonathan and he couldn't focus on the battle strategies and combat techniques being drilled into him. The day before, I had stormed off the training grounds after a heated argument with the instructor. Today, I simply couldn't muster the enthusiasm to participate. As I walked away from the training grounds, I tried to connect with Jessica's mind link again. I focused my thoughts, reaching out to her with my mind. "Jessica, can you hear me?" I thought, my mental voice loud and clear. But there was only silence. No response, no acknowledgement. It was as if Jessica was deliberately blocking me out. My frustration kept growing by every passing second. Why was Jessica ignoring me? Why was s

CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE JAY Point of View I walked away from Damon, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I was worried about Jess, and I regretted the way I had treated her. I couldn't believe how I had ignored her, pushed her away when she needed me most. I had been so caught up in my own problems, my own guilt and shame, that I had neglected the one person who truly cared about me. Now, it seemed like it was too late. Jess was hurt, and I didn't blame her. I had broken her trust, and I didn't know if I could ever repair it. I felt a pang of sadness and regret. The damage was done, and all I could do was hope that someday, somehow, Jess would be able to forgive me. I sighed, feeling a sense of despair wash over me. We had been searching for the missing goods for weeks, and I was determined to finally recover them. I had been working tirelessly, following every lead, every hint, every rumor. I had spoken to every pack member, every ally, every enemy. And finally, after all this time, I had a breakthrough. I had received a tip from a reliable source that the missing goods were being hidden in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of our territory. I had assembled a team of my most trusted pack members, and we were ready to move. We arrived at the warehouse under the cover of darkness. We moved stealthily, our eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger. I gave a hand signal, and my team moved into position. We burst into the warehouse, our flashlights illuminating the dark space. And there, in the center of the room, were the missing goods. Crates of food, medi

Damon's eyes locked onto mine, his expression serious. "I was wondering if you'd consider not going with Tyla back to the Cornrow pack," he said, his voice filled with emotion. I raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Why?" I asked, curious. Tyla spoke up, her voice soft. "Because, Jess, I need some time to heal. And everything in the Cornrow pack...it's just too much. It'll never let me heal." I nodded, understanding. I knew that Tyla had been through a lot, and the Cornrow pack was a constant reminder of her past. I couldn't blame her for wanting to get away from it all. "Okay, Tyla," I said, smiling softly. "I'll

It was as if the weight of our confessions had lifted a burden off our shoulders, and we were finally free to express our true feelings. I looked into Tyla's eyes, and I saw the same desire reflected back at me. Without a word, I leaned in, my lips brushing against hers in a gentle, tender kiss. Tyla's response was immediate, her lips parting to deepen the kiss. I felt a surge of passion run through me, and I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close. We kissed for what felt like hours, our lips locked together in a passionate, all-consuming kiss. I felt like I was home, like I had finally found the missing piece of my soul. As we broke apart for air, I looked into Tyla's eyes and saw the same love, the same desire reflected back at me. Without a word, I stood up, pulling her to her feet, and led her to the bedroom.
