CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN

TYLA Point of View

Upon entering the packhouse I felt myself moving with confidence and my spirits were high along with my clear thinking. The instant I entered the building my face received a sudden burning sensation. The slap did not force me backward but caused a burning sensation. I raised my eyes to see the man who faced me. Jonathan. His expression appeared tight while his eyes showed dark anger as he looked at me. He spoke in a controlled manner while warning me with his words when he said "That's for leaving this house without my permission." My body remained upright as I resisted any movement when confronted by his anger. I held my cheek steady and revealed no weakness after he slapped me. He faced my unwavering stare with no change in my expression and regular breathing. Then, without thinking, I smiled. His expression twisted. The muscles across his face tensed while his jaw became rigid. His predictions included potential defiance or resistance yet he

CHAPTER FORTY-EIGHT TYLA Point of View A hidden storm threatened to unleash itself as the pack's atmosphere shifted in random ways. The air felt heavy with tension creating a burdensome feeling that sank upon my shoulders during certain periods. The days appeared quiet but it was merely a deceptive calm before a devastating event happened. The pack members' movements and wary looks and quiet conversations stopped when Jonathan passed by. The pack was restless. I was restless. I took great precautions to hide my secret actions from Jonathan while performing these tasks. I risked sending hidden texts to my father during brief moments when I was certain other pack members were not observing me. I kept my letters short yet included all details about Jonathan's increasing dominance and pack members' growing fear combined with Jessica's limitations and Damon's Cornrow territory ban. I needed my father to understand what was taking place yet I remained uncertain about his actual level of i

CHAPTER FORTY -NINE TYLA Point of View After the meeting with the elder, we headed for the packhouse. The moment we stepped inside, there was Jonathan waiting for us. His dark eyes burned with fury, his posture rigid, his hands clenched into fists at his sides, and for the first time that night, I felt a flicker of regret. Jessica and I stopped dead in our tracks after few steps past the entrance, our bodies filled with anxiety, waiting for him to speak. "Where were you?" He asked, his voice controlled yet filled with burning rage. Neither of us spoke a word. We couldn't tell him what transpired between Elder Orion and us. His lips curled in irritation. "Don't you dare play games with me, did you go to see Damon?" Jessica and I exchanged a surprised look. We couldn't deny it now. "Yes", we said in unison. His nostrils flared, his chest rising with uneven breath. For a second, I expected him to lash out, to strike one of us like he always does. But he didn't. Instead he let out a col

CHAPTER FIFTY JESSICA Point of View My body felt as heavy as a cumbersome weight because of my extreme fatigue. All the night's activities emptied my energy through my illicit encounter with Damon and Jonathan's anger and the approaching appointment. I needed to calm myself down. I needed a place to relax, a place to escape from the harsh reality. I decided to walk toward the quarters that belonged to Jay since I had obtained his spare key. The door led me into his quarters even though I did not know whether he was present at that moment. I had his spare key. The key had been in my possession for weeks since he specifically instructed me to use it whenever I needed to visit. I stood at the door before taking just one brief pause to enter. The scent in that space belonged to him and carried both masculine notes and a light mixture of leather and pine. The atmosphere in his quarters created a feeling of tranquility for me. But he wasn't there. I delivered a mental message while walkin

CHAPTER FIFTY ONE TYLA Point of View I was still in a state of shock, my heart racing, and my breath coming in short gasps. The scream had been torn from my throat, and now I felt drained, empty. The door to my room burst open, and suddenly, it was filled with people. Jay, Jessica, and a few servants rushed in, their faces etched with concern. "What's wrong, Tyla?" Jessica asked, rushing to my side. I tried to speak, but my voice was barely a whisper. I was still trying to process the nightmare that had just shaken me awake. Or should I say, the hallucination that had triggered this feeling of fear that had now enveloped me. I got out of the bath, completely naked, but I was too scared to care about that at that point. Jessica quickly took charge, ushering everyone out of the room except for Jay. "Give us some space," she said firmly. As the servants filed out, Jessica grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me, holding me close. "It's okay, Tyla," she whispered. "You're safe now." Ja

CHAPTER FIFTY TWO JESSICA Point of View I couldn't shake off the memory of Tyla's scream. It had pierced through the sound of the shower, making my heart skip a beat. Jay and I had been lost in our own little world, but Tyla's cry for help had shattered the moment. At first, Jay hadn't wanted me to leave. "Tyla will be fine," he'd said, trying to reassure me. "We don't have to go." But I knew better. I knew Tyla, and I knew that scream. It was a scream of terror, of desperation. I had to go to her. I pushed Jay aside, turning off the shower. "I have to go," I insisted in a determined tone. Jay sighed, but he knew better than to argue with me. I quickly grabbed a towel and wrapped it around myself, rushing out of the bathroom. I walked into the room and quickly dressed into my clothes, while Jay followed suit. The look on his face was mot encouraging, but I didn't care. It was not like I could do anything about it. I wouldn't leave Tyla in danger because I wanted to please him. Now,

CHAPTER FIFTY THREE JONATHAN Point of View I woke up before dawn, my mind already racing with the day's tasks. I had a crucial meeting with the elders, and I needed to be prepared. I got out of bed and began his morning routine, my movements swift and efficient. I knew I needed to get my speech straight. I also needed to make sure that Tyla and Jessica paid for what they did. For leaving the pack without my permission, and against my warning. I wanted to deal with Tyla more. She thought she was still king Damisus Princess, and for that, she could do whatever pleased her. I was ready to show her that she was nothing. I would deal mercilessly with her for daring me. While I was getting dressed, my phone rang, shrill in the early morning silence. I walked towards the table, and my eyes fell on the screen before I picked up the phone from the table. It was an unknown caller, but I picked it up, nevertheless. "Hello," I called out in an urgent tone. I wanted to get done with whatever cra

"Please, Jamel, let me speak to Ryder. I need to know what happened." Alpha Jamel's face darkened, his eyes blazing with anger. "I will not allow it," he growled. "Whatever you want to say to him, you can say to me. I'll make sure my men pass on the message." I shook my head, feeling a sense of urgency. "No, I need to speak to him myself. It's crucial. I don't know but, please just let me see him." Alpha Jamel's expression turned incredulous. "You're pushing your luck, Jonathan." Jay stepped forward, trying to intervene. "Jamel, perhaps—" But Alpha Jamel cut him off with a raised tone and a cold expression. "Stay out of this, Jay. This is between alphas." I noticed Jay's eyes flash with anger, but he kept his cool, his expression neutral. He leaned back on his chair, nodding slightly. I made a mental note to talk to him l

CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE DAMON Point of View I stood in my room, staring blankly at the wall as I tried to shake off the lingering fear and anxiety from my nightmare. Why was I having these nightmares? Was it something to do with the battle ahead with Alpha Damisus, or was it related to my past with Annie? I paced back and forth across my room, my mind racing with possibilities. I couldn't seem to shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in the pit of my stomach. After a while, I sat down in my chair, trying to calm myself down. But my restlessness got the better of me, and I soon found myself lying on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I was restless, so I found myself moving from one part of the room to the other. As the silence stretched out, I finally picked up my phone and dialled Jessica's number. She answered on the first ring. "Hey, how are you doing?" I asked, trying to sound casual. "I'm fine, thanks," Jessica replied, her voice warm and soothing. "How about you?" I hesi

I couldn't believe how I had ignored her, pushed her away when she needed me most. I had been so caught up in my own problems, my own guilt and shame, that I had neglected the one person who truly cared about me. Now, it seemed like it was too late. Jess was hurt, and I didn't blame her. I had broken her trust, and I didn't know if I could ever repair it. I felt a pang of sadness and regret. I wished I could go back in time, do things differently. I wished I could amend things, make it right between us. But it was too late now. The damage was done, and all I could do was hope that someday, somehow, Jess would be able to forgive me. I sighed, feeling a sense of despair wash over me. CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR DAMON point of View I stood in front of the large map of our territory, studying it intently. We had been searching for the missing goods for weeks, and I was determined to finally recover them. I had been working tirelessly, following every lead, every hint, every rumor. I had spoken to every pack member, every ally, every enemy. And finally, after all this time, I had a breakthrough. I had received a tip from a reliable source that the missing goods were being hidden in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of our territory. I had assembled a team of my most trusted pack members, and we were ready to move. We arrived at the warehouse under the cover of darkness. We moved stealthily, our eyes scanning the area for any signs of danger. I gave a hand signal, and my team moved into position. We burst into the warehouse, our flashlights illuminating the dark space. And there, in the center of the room, were the missing goods. Crates of food, medi

Damon's eyes locked onto mine, his expression serious. "I was wondering if you'd consider not going with Tyla back to the Cornrow pack," he said, his voice filled with emotion. I raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Why?" I asked, curious. Tyla spoke up, her voice soft. "Because, Jess, I need some time to heal. And everything in the Cornrow pack...it's just too much. It'll never let me heal." I nodded, understanding. I knew that Tyla had been through a lot, and the Cornrow pack was a constant reminder of her past. I couldn't blame her for wanting to get away from it all. "Okay, Tyla," I said, smiling softly. "I'll

It was as if the weight of our confessions had lifted a burden off our shoulders, and we were finally free to express our true feelings. I looked into Tyla's eyes, and I saw the same desire reflected back at me. Without a word, I leaned in, my lips brushing against hers in a gentle, tender kiss. Tyla's response was immediate, her lips parting to deepen the kiss. I felt a surge of passion run through me, and I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close. We kissed for what felt like hours, our lips locked together in a passionate, all-consuming kiss. I felt like I was home, like I had finally found the missing piece of my soul. As we broke apart for air, I looked into Tyla's eyes and saw the same love, the same desire reflected back at me. Without a word, I stood up, pulling her to her feet, and led her to the bedroom.
