That evening, Alix and Adalyn reluctantly returned to their rooms to give me time to rest after I yawned so many times during our conversation.

I was asleep when the sound of my door opening woke me up, making me bolt upright, my heart beating rapidly. Being kidnapped by a psycho could do that to a person.

A tall beautiful girl with long curly brown hair walked into the room but paused when she saw me staring at her. She broke into a warm smile and came toward me extending her hands, which I took.

Hello. My name is Dhariea. You must be Regina," she said in a soft voice.

Dhariea Ellentra, according to our room door which was now displaying both our names instead of just mine.

I smiled at her, "Yes, I am. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," I replied, standing up and straightening my tousled hair.

She gave me a wide grin, exposing straight white teeth. "Same here. I heard about what happened to you before I arrived, I'm sorry you went through all that. Since I'm here, we will become

Three days later, I was convinced of three things. One, Something was terribly wrong with me because I had found myself being mind controlled twice after the first time, heading towards the same place. And each time, Erix was the one who snapped me out of it. He was now a constant presence in my life. I had been feeling his eyes on me whenever he was around me which was frequent now. The strange warmth and sense of peace I had been feeling around Erix were getting a little bit stronger by the day. Two days later, Vivian left for the Coven community after repeatedly asking me to go back with her, insisting I wasn't safe in N.A. But I couldn't leave my friends behind. And I was happy here anyway. Alix, Adalyn, and I had stayed with her whenever we were free before she left. I found It sweet that Alix was willing to spend some time knowing my family when he had other things to do. I had been carrying the guilt of keeping Erix a secret from all of them, including the mind control problem. I was hoping to resolve it quietly with Vivian's help. The mind-control was the only proof we had that Karissa hadn't backed down. She had not shown herself to us yet. Honestly, I was worried that the reason she hadn't shown herself to us was that she was planning something big. I later been in the dark, especially when the lives of people I loved were in danger. I'd lost a friend because of her, I couldn't imagine losing another. It would kill me. Erix, to my shock, had also visited Vivian bef

Are you okay?" I heard Erix's voice from behind me that evening when I decided to visit mivaeria at the stables. I had been stroking the beautiful horned horse when he arrived. I knew before he spoke that he was behind me, thanks to the bond, so I wasn't startled.I shrugged but didn't reply. I was still scared and worried about Karissa. And to make things worse, Vivian had sent a message that Coven Community was under attack from Karissa's monsters. She had ordered me to stay at the academy for my safety when I told her I was leaving the academy to help out. I didn't know what Karissa's plan was but it was not good. I hadn't been mind controlled since the last time, and it worried me too because it meant she had something else in mind.Erix's hand rested on my shoulder, instantly filling me with warmth and peace. • Monsters From The Mist   Chapter One.

Mornings were invariably my best part of the day even though I constantly had to remind myself about the exhausting classes I nevertheless had to go to whether I wanted to or not. In truth, I'd rather be found in a library than a classroom. In a library, I could read and learn without boring teachers droning on and on about boring histories or the bloody battles between races.I transferred from my old school to Neutral Academy much to the disappointment of Vivian, my guardian, who had wanted me to remain near her. There was no doubt whatsoever in my mind that Vivian loved me as if I was her child. She never missed my birthdays and never made me lack anything. She educated me on magic, even though I was an oddity in a community filled with witches. I could only pull little stunts like growing a bed of flowers, like the one I was currently laying on. I could also make little things appear, unlike other witches who could control an element or two, along with other magic such as summoni

After three different but surprisingly fascinating classes, well, except my first class, Boundaries, and Territories. It was finally time for lunch, I was famished. Shaking off the nervous feeling of entering a crowded room for the first time, I opened the cafeteria door. Unsurprisingly, no one else but Adalyn paid me any mind. She was currently waving at me from her seat by one of the cafeteria windows. A perfect spot for me. "How were your classes?" I asked her, taking a seat beside her."Boring for me." She responded, diving into her fried spicy elk meat. "I had interesting classes after my first one. Demons; Underworld Beasts and Monsters in MistWorld." I told her, waiting for a floating tray containing a plate of roasted mistdeers and milk, but nothing happened."Place your hands on the desk in front of you and think of what you want to eat. The tables are spelled to provide whatever we wish for." Adalyn said."Sweet. At W.A, a tray containing our lunch appears before us. I wa

  • Monsters From The Mist   Chapter Three

"MistWorld was formed long ago by the three powerful entities, who discovered this planet that was filled with raw magic and magical creatures that had been formed from the magic. The raw magic is the fog that covers MistWorld. These entities chose this world for their creations; the vampires, witches, and werewolves. These three beings were Raoul, the Elder Vampire god, goddess Salene for the wolves, and goddess Zhyrie, the witch's goddess. They decided to go to sleep and allow their creations to take over. But though they are asleep, they could wake up in this century, or the next, no one knows." Miss Witchard narrated in a gentle voice, hypnotizing us. We all kept quiet as she narrated even though we had heard the history of MistWorld before.A hand shot up from the front of the class. A tall vampire with brown waist-length hair, pale skin, and small brown eyes that always looked half asleep."Yes, Moera? Speak dear?" Miss Witchard called in her soft, hypnotizing voice. She was al

"There was another dead person found last night in TMC. I also found out that his body was brutally torn. People are saying it's an act of war from one of the species against TMC. Probably someone who disagrees with the peace between the people there." Adalyn told me, looking around my room. She looked cheerful in her pink sleeveless top and white leggings."If this is truly an act of war against what TMC stands for, then how long would it be before this academy is also attacked?" I asked her rhetorically, leaning against the window frame, and looking out the window at the dark sky, splattered with tiny stars, and designed by two full moons.A nightdiver flew right past my window, followed by two more. They were bird-like creatures that were often seen diving in the air, although they possessed long pointed ears and sharp teeth. They were nocturnal creatures that fed on smaller animals like Mistrats."That was probably what my father's emergency call to Alix was about.""Is he back?"

"Mister Wilkins was right. Karissa would be back." Alix growled, his hand fisted.I had narrated every detail to them, whereas I had purposely kept out some parts of the truth while narrating everything to the principal. I didn't tell him about my vampire, demon, and witch heritage. I wasn't ready to divulge the truth to the world just yet.Adalyn and Alix had been stunned and speechless when I told them about my demon side. After we tried to guess how a person could have demon genes in them to no avail, we dropped the subject.Adalyn looked very worried, "If Karissa planned to take over the three worlds, then we have to stop her. But I worry about something, what if she could achieve her goal without you? Could that be why she stole that artifact from the school?"Alix cussed under his breath, drawing my attention to him. That was a first. But fuck, if Adalyn was right, then we were in trouble. But there were loopholes in that theory."Why then did she go through all that length to k

When Mivaeria got to N.A, startling the guards that had been stationed at the school ward, I saw the damage that had been done to the school. I was surprised the ward had been erected so fast, especially since the elder witches had been killed. Some parts of the school walls were cracked and some of the trees around the school were blackened as if they had been blasted by fire or magic.I landed before the ward and climbed off Mivaeria, who snorted out steam."Who are you? State your mission," One of the guards questioned. The others were staring at Mivaeria in awe."I'm Regina Murghan, a student of this school. I was…" The guards' sudden movement surprised me, causing me to pause my introduction. They seemed to know who I was. Before I could process what was happening, the ward dissolved. One of the guards stepped towards me but gave Mivaeria a wide berth and spoke to me, "I will escort you to Mister Wilkin's office after we drop your… ride at the stable. I hope it won't give us any

"That's it, girl. I guess I was wrong. We will keep up the training and see if you can wield the other two elements, which are the most powerful of the four." Karissa told me, both of us staring at my handiwork. A bubble of water was floating before us in a huge circle. Floating around it were pieces of earth. I had successfully and surprisingly controlled earth and water handily, but not fire and air after three days of intense training. It was still more than I had thought I was capable of, so I was happy. I wasn't an anomaly after all. I've spent a total of seven days with Karissa and learned a lot more than I had in all my years at the coven community. But I had a question I needed an answer to, so I asked. "Why did you bind my powers to only unlock after my sixteenth birthday?"She took her gaze from my magic to me. Her black eyes seemed to reach deep into my soul. "So you wouldn't be overwhelmed by your powers. Having such great powers at a young age could have affected you, p

"Who is my father?" I asked her as I ate and drank the food Karissa had summoned for me since I was yet to try it myself."Your father's name was Daemon. He was a vampire, witch, and demon." Karissa answered from her spot by the window. I was grateful for the space even though she had not been violent since the first time she had flung me. She had been surprisingly normal. My eyes widened at her in shock, my hand pausing halfway to my mouth. "How is that possible?" I asked.Even though interspecies marriages happened from time to time, it was unheard of for a person on Mistworld to be a demon. Demons couldn't stay long in MistWorld. According to what I heard, MistWorld was toxic to them if they stayed too long."Your father was a rarity and the most powerful being that walked MistWorld after the Elder god and goddesses themselves." "You keep talking as if he's dead," I didn't know how I felt about a dead father I didn't know, but if he was as evil as Karissa, then he was better off
