Meeting his son

★★★

When Jessica woke up, the sky was already dark. Jessica saw her son beside her with his laptop.

It might look like he was playing with it but only he himself knew what he was doing.

She stretched her body and asked, “What time is it?”

Cornell answered, “Seven o’clock in the evening.”

“No one came knocking?!!”

“No,” Cornell said.

A frown appeared on Jessica's face because no one had come to ask her son to eat. She did not care about their attitude toward her but they must show politeness to her son.

Although the mother and son dressed in casual attire, they both appeared to be extremely wealthy.

They went to the dining room where her father and stepmother Eva were having tea and snacks, but they never bothered to ask her son.

“You have long forgotten your manner and the rules of this house. You were sent to Poland as punishment, but it appears that Poland did not change you, but rather made you more brazen,” Darren said, placing down his teacup that was filled with tea and was his favorite tea.

Jessica felt a squeeze in her hand and she took a look at her son. Clearly, Cornell's face turned red in anger. He was restraining it because he was told by Jessica not to express his rage or brilliance to anyone until his mother called for assistance.

“Sounds like you made notes of my life but did not waste your energy to talk to me. Huh!” Jessica chuckled at stared at her father with mockery eyes.

“JESSICA! Stop pushing my nerves. I only want our family to be in peace. Your mother and I are trying hard to bring stability to society which is staggering because of your son who has become the talk of our society,” Darren said, balling his fist to restrain himself and avoid creating the worst in front of the servants.

“They always use their big mouth instead of their brains. This is no shock to listen to their thoughts about my son. Schmoozing is their source of strength,” Jessica deadpanned voice heightened the taunt. Darren wanted to insult Cornell but Jessica put the hob beneath his blood to boil.

Suddenly Eva spoke out, “Do you know how much is your father doing things for you and you are talking in such a manner with your dad? People are calling your son a 'BASTARD'... Your dad...” Eva could not even finish what she had on the tip of her tongue when a vase flew right in front of her eyes and hit the painted wall.

”JESSICA!" Eva yelled with one hand on her chest, breathing heavily. Her knees were shaking as the vase had just crossed her face by a finger's width.

Jessica blazingly looked at her son who immediately put both hands on both ears as he was aware of what his mother wanted.

"The next time, I'm going to walk over to their houses and burn them alive with their houses," Jessica yelled as she turned to face Eva and Darren.

"My son is my everything, and I don't know how far I would go to obliterate everything if anyone in this house tried to insult him."

Eva, Darren, and all the servants became stone when they saw how crazy Jessica looked, completely opposite of her personality. Everyone could feel killing intent from her that was chilling to stand against.

Eva kept her silence until she saw Jessica walk out of the house holding her son's hand. Then sat down on the chair with tears in her eyes.

“Did you see her? I told you not to let her come! She will kill our family, Darren,” Eva said in tears. “I saw her eyes and they were filled with vengeance.”

Darren hugged his wife and said, “Don't worry!! I know how to tighten the rope around her waist.”

“Mom, calm down. Your angry face doesn't look good,” Cornell said with a sly grin. He couldn't concentrate on anything when his mother was angry or sad.

Jessica was definitely angry, but she always controlled it around her son. So when Cornell started talking, Jessica choked back her feelings and slightly turned her face to smile at him.

"I'm pissed because I'm hungry," Jessica said as she pulled over in front of a posh restaurant. "It's almost 8 o'clock. Let's have a delicious meal here."

Cornell nodded before fastening his seatbelt. He usually sat in the backseat, but today he chose the front because he wanted to be near his mother. "I love you, Mommy,” Cornell said as he extended his hand and touched Jessica's cheek lovingly.

“Always you will be my priority," Jessica said and kissed Cornell's head then both of them got out of the car.

“Is this your go-to spot for eating?” Cornell asked inquisitively.

“Yep! And you will love the food here,” Jessica said and they were led to their booked table by a waitress.

Rilika and Liam sat across from one another in a private room as Liam explained to Rilika that he was not feeling well and he did not want Rilika to get sick, so she should keep a safe distance from him.

However, it was a lie, and it injured Rilika even more. He was close but too far away to grasp his hands.

Rilika wept pitifully, as though someone had passed away. She had her hands tightly gripping the hem of her dress while lowering her head. Liam's expression showed distress at the circumstance. It was too much for Liam to handle.

“Tell me what I can do to make you happy,” he said irritably. “Am I not giving you enough cash, cars, or jewelry? What more do you desire?”

Without delaying, Rilika raised her head and muttered, "Even though we have been together for seven years, you have never given me the impression that I have a special place in your heart. Am I not attractive enough?"

“Stop making things difficult for me. I am trying, alright!! You are beautiful no doubt, but I am an odd person, and the only thing that is attractive to me is my business,” Liam said calmly, spilling the beans. Because of that one-night stand, he refrained from telling her that he didn't care for her at all.

He was willing to give her money and even advised her to marry someone else, but Rilika attempted to take her life. And Liam couldn't understand why he couldn't love her, even though he felt an enormous amount of emotion that night, and it was still green in his heart.

“Spend time with me. We can go on vacation, doing stuff as a couple does. Please, Liam, let me have a place in your heart,” Rilika said with teary and hopeful eyes because she had that dark feeling that Liam wanted to go away from her and she heard Jessica return with her son.

'That boy was Liam's.' The thought made her stomach churn and she spoke, “How about we get engaged?"

“It is too early." Liam grabbed his fork and knife to cut the vegetables.

“We have been together for seven years. Except for a few people, no one is aware of our existence. I want to take our relationship to the next level,” Rilika took a deep breath, "I'd like to marry you."

Rilika proposed in haste, fearful of losing Liam. She couldn't live without him, and neither she would allow anyone to stand beside him.

Liam dropped the fork and knife before standing up from his seat. He stepped away from the table with a dark face, clearly indicating he did not want to stay for a second here.

Rilika stood up after him, and grabbed his hand, “I am sorry. Please, do not go like this.”

“I am heading to the bathroom," Liam said and yanked his hand back from Rilika but the force he used nearly caused Rilika to fall forward.

As Liam made his way to the toilet, he was roaring inside. He was so enraged that the veins in his forehead bulged. He came to a stop in front of the mirror and yelled, "Fuck! Fuck!"

“You are too loud, Sir!” A boy spoke beside Liam who was washing his hand.

When Liam turned around, he recognized the boy from the airport.

“I am sorry. I was stressed," Liam apologize to Cornell.

Cornell turned his face completely to Liam and said, “You are okay. You have never seen my mother angry.”
