The door unlocked with a click, and I was taken aback when I saw that he was still using the same passcode he had three years ago. I thought for sure he would have changed it by now, but apparently not.

I stepped into his apartment, and the familiar scent of the place hit me like a wave. It was the same scent that I remembered from years ago, a unique combination of his cologne, his cooking, and the way he kept his home.
