He right hand already stretched to take mine into his, I could feel the fireworks in my head exploring to set a quick smile.

"Shall we?" His hands taking mine, I nod in agreement.

We walked majestically to the table full of meals I've only dreamt of, and the aroma already made me full.

The basement was pitch black, she was as blind as if her eyes had been gouged. Her body washed cold. She brought her fingers to her eye sockets, they were still there. She turned back to the stairs and tried to run up, but her foot fell through each one like it was a mere projection. So how had she walked down them? She leant forwards to touch the stair and felt a fabric fall down her arm, soft and velvety.Cold metal touched her forehead, one grope told her it was a pointed hat, like a fairy tale crown. She grabbed it and a mirror appeared in front of her, glowing like a television screen. It was her, broken face and all, dressed like some picture book queen. She swallowed.“The queen must die,” isn't that what the ghost said?.Without sight of any knife in the mirror the image began to bleed from the neck. She raised her hand to feel the sticky warm fluid about her throat. She screamed; the image

Approaching the low level gate, fancy wrought iron in a grey stone wall. The house is a simple country home, less desirable for being so far out of town. The front door, made of dark wood planks with black hinges spreading half way across, had that rustic appeal the rich city folk craved.Inside it would be renovated, no expense spared, the charm of the country with every modern convenience of a penthouse suite. Before pressing the intercom she let her fingers walk over the rough stone walls, stone lifted from the very dales she'd grown up in.Even in the warm spring sunshine there was a coolness to it. She let her eyes absorb the myriad of hues, all grey but made unique by their variance in minerals. She removed her hand and turned to press the button, but as her finger moved forward the door opened. Her professional smile was instant, her patter on autopilot. The thought of Nuella all just coming back to me and all

"She had grown with me, forged a love that could not be matched, hmmmm.." I let out a soft chuckle."Whether to say who had aged better, she would never tell. On a day where the heat had reached its peak and the afternoon had nothing left to offer, she would lay her cheek against my cool, dark surface, follow the grooves with a finger and count the nicks with each memory of how they came to be." Saying that quite out loud"When she awoke in a cold sweat, the darkness fresh inside and outside her mind, I would talk to her, speak words of encouragement in that high, teetering voice of mines until she made it to other end of the hall and to her mother’s room. You’re almost there. You’re almost there. No one had ever grown closer to her than me, no one had ever come closer to feeling like home." "16 missed calls" I read out."12 voice message?" I knew I was in trouble."8 mails" I let out a short laugh.Driving round town was a beauty to behold, all the smell of old trees and dusty grounds was quite amazing I must appreciate.Entering a house in this neighbourhood after dark was a job for the spook-brigade, or rookies as they used to be known. We call them spooks in honour of what they may become before being promoted to a safer positionI was indeed back home before dinner that was prepared two hours ago, I saw Maryam already dozed off on the dinner table, and I didn't want to wake her up, I quietly shut the door behind me.At first glance I wanted to take her to her room and lay her down on her bed but at second thought I didn't want to be questioned why I wasn't home early.I quickly tiptoed upstairs, trying not to make a noise, just

As the early morning birds sings, and I enjoy the melody, Maryam reached out toward the curtain and drew it aside in one strong motion.
