Before they could reach the land Ukraine, the carriages and the chariots came across the ruined bridge of Keiv. The palace guards prepared their weapons as they saw many robbers scattering on the streets.
Prince Jion and Princess Sue were readily informed about their situation.
“We saw in a distance that robbers were on our way to Ukraine, your majesty.” The guard said as they stopped momentarily.
“Where is the princess?” He asked the guard when he did not see her around.
As if answering them, they saw a black horse with the princess riding on it, heading to the bridge where those robbers were.
Prince Jion was speechless as he beheld her doing impulsive thing again.
“Why did not you stop her?!” He asked furiously as he ran to one of the palace horses and rode it. He hastily followed her.
“Your highness! Do not go!” The general knight exclaimed.
“Jion!” Princess Sue exclaimed in fright as he really was heading to the bridge.
“Four will stay here to guard the princess. The rest, let us head towards the prince!” The general followed as they acted at once.
On the other hand, Princess Alminah reached the bridge where the robbers proliferated the streets. They all gathered in one as they saw someone was coming. They prepared their swords and arrows.
Princess Alminah hastily got off from the horse and faced the robbers.
“I wished to speak to the chief.” She ordered. They were astonished at her boldness.
“And who are you to request the presence of our chief?” One of the robbers pointed her a sword. The robbers never see her flinched by fear.
“I want to talk to the chief.” She said again.
“Here I am.” The deep voice came in, eyeing her closely. “ I see your horse. It’s from Kingdom Romania. What do you need?”
“Ye are a Visigoths.” She nodded in certainty as she saw the scar on her right arm.
Taec approached her upon hearing it. “How come you know my tribe?”
Princess Alminah removed her veil. “ I came from Teuton’s tribe in the valley of the Zagreb.”
Taec noticed the jewel she bore on her neck. His eyes widened upon recognizing it.
“Forgive me for talking to you in rashly manner, princess.” He immediately bowed down. The rest of the robbers followed as they saw their chief doing so.
“Recently, the war was concluded because of a treaty. Our tribe promised peace to the entire land of Romania. So I wish you depart this land and go straight to the valley. The royal highness has provided our tribe a way to living.” She declared. “Hear me chief of this throng, if you dare defy my words, I will personally visit you in my wrath.” She warned.
“I will not, princess.” He bowed to the ground even more. He heard a lot about the princess from the valley Zagreb. He shall not cross the line or his generations will be cursed.
“Stand up you all and turned from this land.” She said as the throng and the chief heeded her words. She put on her veil back when Prince Jion came with his horse and held her swords in the air. The robbers seeing it readied their weaponries.
Prince Jion ran near her. “Are you well?” He asked in concerning tone. Princess was unable to speak seeing him like that. The Visigoths aimed at him but Princess Alminah immediately stopped them and spoke to them in native tongue. “Ini mas daa, Prince Jion of Romania. Amia por reiti ati rouri.”
(This is my husband, Prince Jion of Romania. We are married to stop the war.)
Teac and the throng paid their respect to him. Prince Jion was astonished to see them bowing to him. He turned to her having a questioning look.
“They are the Visigoths from east tribe. They mean no harm to us.” She said answering him and turned to the Visigoths. “Amia por reiti Ukraine kor taeli. Kah ne.”
(We are to go Ukraine through this bridge. Go your way now).
The Visigoths went as she said and began to journey on the west direction.
“Let us go, prince. We cannot delay.” Princess Alminah rode her horse back to the chariot and the carriage.
Prince Jion followed her although a little bit lost by what happened just a while ago.
***
What happened between Prince Jion and with those Visigoths was really implanted on his mind all day. He was put into silence along their journey as he stared outside the carriage. Princess Sue looked at him worriedly.
“Are you weary?” She asked.
“Huh?” He asked blankly. “Oh, I was just thinking. Sorry.”
“I am happy that we had passed the bridge without taking up arms to fight those robbers.” She said.
“They are Visigoths.” He said.
“Huh? Visi- what?” She asked in confusion.
“A tribe from the east. They are called Visigoths not robbers.” He corrected.
Princess Sue stared at his troubled expression. “I am really sorry. Did I say something offending?”
“Nay, princess. I might need a little fresh air.” He ordered the carriage to stop and he went outside. The palace guards halted at once.
Princess Alminah saw him in a distance and blankly looked at him as he got his own horse. She tilted her head when he rode near her.
“I do not come to argue.” He immediately said.
“Did I say a word, prince?” She said and rode forward. The chariot and the carriage began to move as princess Jion and Princess Alminah continued to move forward.

They had reached the land Ukraine at sun down and were hosted in the household of Lord Troi.
“Good evening princess. I see you again.” Lord Troi greeted princess Alminah.
“And I do not remember you, sir.” Princess Alminah said.
“So it is really true. The prince of Romania got himself a fierce wife.” Lord Sten butted in.
“We are tired. Can we have a room?” Prince Jion said sat on the soft couch. Princess Sue sat on the adjoining couch also. Princess Alminah remained standing wearing a blank face.
“Are you done with all your charitable deeds?” Lord Troi asked.
“I heard from the duchess that you do great in the land Moldova.” Sten interjected.
“Can’t you be hospitable enough to serve us some drinks?” The prince asked.
“Yes, of course.” Lord Troi exclaimed as Sten laughed. The three had been long friends since they were still kids.
“Say, princess Alminah. Can you manage a toast with us?” Princess Sue asked her.
“Say, can’t the lords of this house be hospitable enough to offer me a room to rest? I am weary and cannot join in your animated exchange of words.” She said which silenced Lord Troi and Lord Sten. Prince Jion stood up and held her hand rather gently. He guided her upstairs to a room.
“I will bring ye something to eat hither.” He said as he exited his way again outside the room.
Princess Alminah stared in blankness at the door. The prince was acting strange today and she did not know why.
Not too long, he entered the room with a silver tray on his hands. “Come hither.” He ordered. She eyed him for a moment then reluctantly approached him.
“What tricks are ye playing now, prince of Romania?” She asked as she sat on the bed. He placed the food of tray to the table and stopped serving the food as he faced her.
Prince looked at that hazel green eyes of her then to her veil. “I am returning favors for ye.”
“What for?”
“Ye saved us in the bridge Keiv.”
She scoffed. “I was not saving you or your armies from those Visigoths. Rather, I was saving them from all of you, prince of Romania. If you cannot understand this, who among us was incapable?” She answered.
Jion looked at her with a frown.“I cannot believe this.” He shook his head, quite annoyed.
“Do not mistake it for something else.” She said. “Please excuse me, you may go out and take that with you.” She referred to the silver tray of food.
“I was being polite. That is all.” He said and grabbed the tray back with him.
“I do not ask for it.” She said.

Morning came, Lord Sten , Lord Troi, Princess Sue and Prince Jion gathered around the beautiful garden where they were having their presumptuous meal for the morning.
The birds played on the tree branches while the squirrels picked up some nuts on the ground. Prince Jion was lost on his thoughts while his company kept on talking on some political issues of the country.
“You seem troubled Jion.” Princess Sue asked.
“Ah…forgive me for not paying attention. What were you asking?” He asked.
“I do not raise any question, Jion. I wonder where your thoughts fled.” Princess Sue said, smiling.
Prince Jion smiled. “My heart is gladdened Princess Sue. I am grateful by your thoughtfulness.”
“You two really fit for each other, prince Jion.” Lord Sten commented.
“Too bad you have to be married this young and unfortunately to the daughter of the chief of barbarian.” Lord Troi said.
Princess Sue sighed silently. She regretted that she delayed her wedding to this prince. She should have united to him before he was bond to that cursed princess.
Prince Jion could not give any word and stood up. “I heard that Lord Troi will be having a small gathering of the lord in his house?” He said trying to change the subject.
“Now that you mention it, I would like to invite the three of you to stay for two days in my place before you depart to your palace.” Lord Troi suggested.
“I do not know if my princess would like to stay here for long.” There were hesitations in Prince Jion’s face.
“Do not worry Jion, I will try to persuade princess Alminah to stay for a while.” Princess Sue assured.
“Do not trouble yourself, Princess Sue.” Prince Jion said.
“Come on, prince Jion. It will just be today.” Lord Sten interjected.
Prince Jion finally nodded seeing his friends’ pleading eyes. “ Tomorrow, we go back to the palace.”
“Yes, your highness!” the lords high five each other.
~~~
Princess Alminah remained motionless on her bed while listening to the morning birds chirping outside her window. After while, the door opened and Prince Jion came in.
She looked up to him.
“The lord of the house will be having a small gathering today. So our departure will be on the morrow.” He said.
“Do what you want, prince.” She then averted her eyes to the window.
He stared at her veil covered face and frowned. “ Are you going to be like this for the rest of your life?”
Princess Alminah wore a confused face, lifted her eyes upon him again. “What are you trying to say, prince?”
“You always cover your face with that red veil and I wonder if you ever got hungry. Last night you refused to eat your dinner and then now.”
“Is that concern I heard from you, prince of Romania?” She asked looking at his eyes.
He smirked. “ Is that what you presume?” But she just shrugged her shoulders.
“I do not wish to see your face in my room. Go.”
Prince Jion stared at her. “Well I do not think that you can just order me around.” He grabbed her arm and slightly dragged her outside the room.
“Do not drag me.” She wailed.
“Stop struggling!” He shouted which made her flinched. “I am so done with your attitude, princess. The lords are going to be here. As the princess of Romania, you are responsible for presenting the empire.” He said in his greeted teeth. Princess Alminah could not do anything but to meet his raging eyes.
Lord Troi was bit surprise seeing prince Jion dragging the princess towards them. Lord Sten and Princess Sue were taken aback when Prince Jion finally found his seat beside them. Princess Alminah silently bit her lower lip trying to hide her aching wrist.
Later that afternoon, the garden was set up in a very elegant British style with fancy confections made up with sweet servings of cake and drinks.
The lords and some daughters of the duchesses came in with their carriage. They wore their usual afternoon tea elegant dresses and suits.
The host of the house greeted the visitors while the helps hastily put the final touch of the garden.
Prince Jion sighed in despair as he beheld princess Alminah on her traditional clothing. The dress that princess Sue lend her was on the bed as if she had no plan on wearing it at all.
“Are you going to wear just like that outside?” He asked in low voice. Once again, this lady managed to make him angry.
“Do not make me wear that funny looking dress, prince Jion.”
“You really love to put me in abashing situation-,”
“If you insist that dress to me, I will literally jump off from this window and run to that forest until you are all done with your carousel here.” She said firmly.
“I give up!” He loudly exclaimed and got out from the room.
~~~
Princess Alminah then heard the merry making of those nobles in the garden. Since Prince Jion did not insist on making her join them, she decided to stay on her room then.
She stood up motionless in front of the window when princess Sue came inside her room. “ Excuse me but Prince Jion wished to see you in the garden. Please take heed on his order.” She said.
“Tell him that I am weary.”
“But he got something to tell you. I do not wish to see him angry again, princess Alminah.”
Princess Alminah then remembered him being angry this morning. She too could not bare to see those hateful eyes as she come with Princess Sue on the garden.
When they reached the garden, every lords and rich ladies from noble families stared at Princess Alminah. The tribe princess could not be compared to the beauty of princess Sue. She was far from being noble. She really can never be suited to any noble men.
“Prince Jion is waiting there.” One of the lords said pointing in the middle of the labyrinth mazes of bushes.
“What does he want to say to me?” Princess Alminah asked him behind her veil. The nobles were silently smirking while staring at her back. Their faces were full of mischief.
“You have to enter into that mazes to get to him.” One of the ladies instructed.
Princess Alminah, although hesitant, began to make her way inside that confusing mazes which made up of those tall green bushes in which unknown to her, these mazes were anciently played by those nobles during their free time. It was their source of entertainment.
~~~
The sun had finally hid its light but princess Alminah was still struggling her way out from the mazes. She had realized that she was tricked by those nobles again. Her hatred kept on increasing as she found herself trapped in that place. She admitted that her heart screaming for some help but then she realized that no one will ever come for her. She ran here and there but still no sign of exit.
Then she reached the center of the perplexing mazes and bent down in defeat. The place was like a jungle to her. No this was more than a jungle to her. She looked up and beheld the moon starting to crawl up to the sky. It was a crescent one but her eyes turned into crimson red again.
“Father.” She helplessly called out.
~~~
Troi and Sten saw the troubled look on prince Jion when he got out from Princess Alminah’s room.
“Is there any problem, your highness?” Lord Troi asked him.
“Did she run to the forest?” He asked himself instead. He looked at the two lords. “I am sure she was here when I left.”
“Maybe she decided to have a stroll for a while.” Sten said.
The three of them decided to have horse riding on the field. The prince seemed to be not on the mood when he got out from princess Alminah’s room a while ago. That was why the lords decided to accompany the majesty to cool off his head somewhere, leaving other nobles in the garden.
“Let us see if she was outside.” Troi suggested.
The three of them reached the garden where the nobles were. They were laughing while pointing on the mazes.
“She was a fool to believe that the prince will be actually waiting for her in that mazes.” The nobles laughed.
Prince Jion hearing it was in rage as he lifted up the one speaking.
“What say you?” He asked glaring at him at the lord caught by his strangling. Lords Troi and Lord Sten stopped the prince from doing so.
“Where is my princess?!” The prince asked.
“In the maze, your highness.” Instead, one of the ladies answered.
Princess Jion finally let go from strangling the lord and was about to run inside the mazes when they saw her coming.
“Princess—,”Prince Jion stopped mid-distance, stunned.
There was unuttered fear that could be seen from every noble in that garden upon beholding the creature which has been lazily crawling with the tribe princess. All of them trembled when the snake hissed in hatred. Its scaly skin was seemingly bathed with blood. Its crimson scales glitters in warning.
“You seek to gratify yourselves with my misfortunes. You laughed merrily because I suffered.”The tribe princess mumbled in sepulchral voice nevertheless enough to be heard for all of them. She stopped in front of those nobles who had their eyes on the snake on the ground. It hissed once twice to them like it was just waiting to be commanded by this princess to devour them. They were quite sure that they heard hissings all around. It will be not impossible that there were many serpents lurking somewhere.
“Nubu rei ulandei. Ami sacar to yeibaj…unowei, chak ami nande.”
The snake hissed, thrusting forward then retreated making the nobles flinched in fear again.
Jion, snapped back to reality, walked towards the tribe princess when he heard her loudly chanted on her native tongue.
“Stop, princess.” He harshly grabbed her arm.
Alminah, faced him with her sinful scarlet eyes. Her rage inside was visible on that eyes that glimmered on the moonlight.
“They do not know what they have done-,”
“No…?”She asked in sarcastic as the color of her eyes changed into its normal color. But her calmness was rather dangerous as she wandered her eyes around seeing all of them consumed by fear of her and on the serpent on the ground. “I am no joke to be played with. “
Silence befell upon all of them when the tribe princess bent down to the serpent, caressed its head as she mumbled a parcel tongue. When she stood up, the serpent left to the deep forest again while she headed to the house of the lord.
“The sky will cry for me tonight.” They even heard her said.
Some of the nobles finally heaved a deep sigh, trying to calm their breathings and warm their cold hands.
Sten and Troi looked up in the sky, seeing the magnificent half crescent moon reigning the sky. No sign that it will rain.
Prince Jion faced all the nobles. “None of you will go unpunished for playing with the crown princess.” He voiced out a warning and immediately went inside the lord’s house, following the princess. Getting on the abode and in front of her door, he halted and can’t even go inside while he listened in tight clenched jaw.
After that event, all nobles didn’t stay for the night as they rode their respective carriages to their home. What they saw was enough to hunt them all night long.
While Lord Sten and Lord Troi both shared a fine wine to warm their body. They looked outside the window, silently listening to the dripping of rain outside. The tribe princess’ words were right. The night indeed cried for her.

Epilogue The whole tribe, now dwell in the valley Zagreb, waited for one person to arrive in the field. It has been two weeks since the young prince departed, leaving his wife in the care of her own tribe. The large blue moon lighted the dark fields but it made the heart of the princess melancholic. It has been many nights, she was alone in bed without the heat from her husband's body. The teuton tribe people rounded on the large bonfire after the merry making. Alminah bit her lower lip while tracing with her hands the gem she acquired on the wild river. Jion trekked into the mountains, alone. To retrieve the heart of the active volcano. She knew that his quest would require him his life, she told the prince of
Alminah was silenced as she arrived at the great river. She had removed her cloaked and let it dropped onto the grassy ground. She listened to the wild thrashing of the river falls and the violent rapids. She was atop and beholding the frightening deep waters below. Her horse made a sound of protest when she crouched down as if readying herself to launched forward. Her eyes glistened blue, her normal eyes, when she smiled to the horse, calming the beast before she jumped into a perfect dive. Almost immediately, she was swallowed by the river and never came out the surface for a while. The horse, if it was even possible to have its leash untied, would like to go and save the tribe princess.The noise of the horse whinnying so loudly draw the attentions of the royal carriage as well as the royal guards passing by the rivers."A horse?" Princess Sue commented to no one in particular. Both prince Woon and Prince Jion were outside t
Dari hastily strode towards the large tent situated at the heart of the valley. A scroll with the royal crest on it was on his right hand. When he was admitted inside by the warriors guarding the entrance, he saw the tribe king in conversation with another tribe chief from the west.KingTeutonraisedhisheadwhenhebeheldDariwhobowedbeforehim."An epistle from the royal family, chief Teuton." Dari said respectfully. When Teuton nodded to him, he went to hand him the scroll and waited for his order.Teuton untied the scroll from the gold-plated thread. The tribe princess had made her own point in not raging war again and because of that, Chief Teuton was freed. It wasn't because of democratic way of dealing the elites but rather it was by force into agreeing to her.The large group of the tribe slowly emerged out the gate of the kingdom, trekking the very lands of their inheritance. War has ended. But it was as if the momentary truce between the elites and the tribe was placed into a thin layer of iced river water. He fully understood the anger his people hold on their hearts. However, there were anxieties within him that troubled his mind. What if the death of the Teuton stirs up more contentions? He knew barbarians are fierce when provoked. The decades of war were the proof of it. They will not stop until they satiate their understanding on justice. Shima exclaimed as she saw the sets of what look like to her as many forks, many spoons, layers of platters and lines of drinking glasses. Lord Sten was informed of the occurring events in the large valley where the tribe circus traveler was temporarily pitching their tents. Dari placed the last tent on the carriage as ordered by the Teuton chief since they were now entering the capital tonight for the circus show as requested by the grand queen to welcome his son, the king from his travel overseas. It was late in the afternoon but the sun was not setting any soon so he was privilege to do the chores without the difficulty of having no light. As he finished checking the goods including the food and the caged animals which included the black pumas, he turned to get back to his own horse when the three ladies showed up, heavily panting. “What are ye-, Shima? Are ye hurt?” Dari ran to them and affirmed that she was wounded. “What happened?” he exclaimed facing Chaerin this time. “Tis not my fault. We were just walking around, listening into crazy old tales and all of the sudden, there are fighting and Shima got hurt. It was a very weary practice and the chief tribe allowed them to breathe some air either just to sit around the grassy valley or roamed around the capital to get familiar with the place just before they wilt have to perform the circus for the noble. Alminah and Shima shared the same interest in fine jewelries that the English women wore in some occasions so they sorted to be in the city to check some of the goodies. “Iwantedtopracticeratherthatwalkedaroundinthisnoisyplace.If it is not for our living, I’d rather me inside the tent and play swords.
