The parents cried in grief as their daughter finally gave up a ghost and closed her eyes forever. They gathered her on their arms and pleaded her to comeback. The house, lit by the small lamp, was filled with their anguish cries for their loss. For the much sorrow they felt, the parents did not notice the entrance of somebody on their abode.

“Lay her back on the bed.” She spoke in low voice.

The parents looked up and behold a fair maiden.

“Who art thou?” The father asked as he stood up feeling threatened to see the soulless eyes of the lady in front of them. The wife held her lifeless daughter in her arms as she stared at the lady.

“Do not waste time and lay her back on the bed.” The lady said in authoritative voice. She came closer to them as she reached the child. She eyed the mother and father. “I come to heal the child. Let me get her back from the awful darkness she is in.”

The mother then take heed in her words and lay her daughter back in the bed.

Princess Alminah began to chant in her native tongue and touched the child’s forehead.

“Ami ja ni kalba zar, mi ela soyu naarah.”

 The wind suddenly blew and the trees rattled in response from the outside. Her voice ascended as she continued. The lights flickered as her eyes turned bloody red then it turned hazel green.

“Ami ja ni kalba zar, mi ela soyu naarah.”

(I came to reclaim, defy the fate and let her live)

Her voice slowed down and the wind calmed itself. The surroundings became deadly quite as she stood up and turned to the parents.

“Thy child will rise at dawn.” She said in her low voice and exited her way to the door. The father followed her but she rode away in the horse in snap speed.

~~~
Prince Jion and Princess Sue were astonished to see the sickly child regained her strength the next morning.The prince turned to the parents with a quizzical look.
“How did this happen?” He asked. Princess Sue was talking to the child and gave her a beautiful present.
“Last night, a fair maiden visited us and healed our daughter.” The father answered.
“A maiden?” The prince asked. “ From what land did this lady come from?”
“I hope I can answer thee, your highness but I was not able to inquire it from her. She hastily left with a horse.” The father answered.
The palace physician went to the prince and told him that the child held no disease from her body any longer.
“Tell me then, did you have any maiden physician sent here last night?” The prince asked the physician.
“Nay.” The physician shook his head.
Although perplexed, Prince Jion could have done nothing but to behold the happy countenances of the parents who had their daughter back. Princess Sue waved at him to come and joined her fellowshipping with the parents in their joy.
“Come, let us rejoice with them.” Princess Sue held his hand.
Prince Jion smiled at her. She was really kindhearted and charitable lady. They joined them and talked many random things. Happiness radiated in that home as what princess Alminah saw.
Princess Alminah looked at the child laughing at her own father’s silliness. Inside the carriage, Princess Alminah was lost on her thoughts as she remembered her days with her father. Last night was her chance to be in the valley yet she feared the war will show its fangs again. She better not to or she will regret the consequences.
Princess Alminah straightened up when Prince Jion and Princess Sue was coming in the carriage.
“My heart gladdened upon the child’s recovery.” Princess Sue said mildly.
“I too felt the same way, princess Sue.” Prince Jion said. He looked at princess Alminah who was still being non-chalant and suited herself in staring at the grasslands.
The palace guards rode on their horses when they saw the royal highnesses went in the carriage. They were about to depart when the child run to carriage. Princess Sue opened it and Prince Jion smiled to the parents as they approached.
“Hyemi wanted to give this as her gratitude to the royal highnesses.” The mother said and handed them a small wood carved in horse image.
“My daughter made it before she fell ill.” The father said.
“Why, thank thee.” Princess Sue accepted it gratefully and Prince Jion nodded at her.
But Hyemi eyed Princess Alminah in silence. “Ye pulled me out from darkness.” She said.
The parents were befuddled upon hearing it. Prince Jion and Princess Sue eyed the child as she dared to point princess Alminah.
“I saw her in my dreams. She held my hands from that lonely dark place.” Hyemi said in certainty.
Princess Alminah touched the child’s forehead and nodded. “Welcome back.”
~~~

“What was that?” Prince Jion asked Princess Alminah as they continued to journey to their next destination. Princess Sue was also curious as he was.

But to put them down, Princess Alminah just stared at the outside and remained silent.

“Speak when I asked you.” He said in displeased.

“What was that what? You need to be precise when you are to inquire from me, prince. I am not as intelligent as every lady from your town to interpret your words. Remember, I came from the place where the people are deprived from education.” Princess Alminah looked at him.

“You talked too much. I only asked why Hyemi said that to you a moment passed.” Prince said as he equaled his eyes to her.

“How can you be so slow, prince? That child said that she saw me on her dreams. On her dreams.” Princess Alminah answered and turned back her attention outside.

Princess Jion could have lost it if not with the presence of Princess Sue in the carriage.

“Please do not be like that to the prince.” Princess Sue gently said to princess Alminah.

“Please do not talk to me. I find no pleasure in talking with you.” Princess Alminah said.

Prince Jion grabbed her wrist. “Do not speak anymore and make me regret that I actually married the savage’s daughter just to end all the commotions of this country. This marriage had brought doubts over our kingdom’s alliance and I was alone repairing it without a single hand from you.” He said having not a single benign on his words.

“I am informed enough by your majesty’s royal family and those nobles on how incapable I am to be your wife. Nonetheless, let me proposed this to you if you permit. Why don’t you take this Princess as your wife then?” Princess Alminah said hiding her anger behind her veil.

“What are you speaking now?” He asked and harshly pulled her hand.

“Please do not fight.” Princess Sue pleaded seeing them fought.

“I apologized, princess Sue.” Princes Jion cooed her as she began to cry slowly. He dried her eyes and gently patted her back.

Princess Alminah ordered to stop the carriage and went outside.

“What are you doing?” prince Jion asked sternly.

Princess Alminah asked for a horse from one of the palace guards and rode it.

“Come back inside at once!” He ordered but she did not listen. “You dare defy my words?” He asked her dangerously as he faced her. But Princess Alminah did not listen and held her chin up. “Come down here!”

“I cannot go inside that carriage and make the two royals upset!” Princess Alminah finally found her voice. “Now let me tell you this, prince of Romania. You may go around your land and barked orders but not to me.” She said as she rode first ahead of the chariot.

Prince Jion greeted his teeth in anger as he marched inside the carriage.

“She would not come in?” princess Sue asked. He just heaved a sighed and frowned in hidden wrath over the hard headed princess.

“Do not speak of her.” He asked and rested his head on his palm. “ He must admit that he cannot tame the tribe’s princess.

  • Medieval Princess   Epilogue

    Epilogue The whole tribe, now dwell in the valley Zagreb, waited for one person to arrive in the field. It has been two weeks since the young prince departed, leaving his wife in the care of her own tribe. The large blue moon lighted the dark fields but it made the heart of the princess melancholic. It has been many nights, she was alone in bed without the heat from her husband's body. The teuton tribe people rounded on the large bonfire after the merry making. Alminah bit her lower lip while tracing with her hands the gem she acquired on the wild river. Jion trekked into the mountains, alone. To retrieve the heart of the active volcano. She knew that his quest would require him his life, she told the prince of

    Alminah was silenced as she arrived at the great river. She had removed her cloaked and let it dropped onto the grassy ground. She listened to the wild thrashing of the river falls and the violent rapids. She was atop and beholding the frightening deep waters below. Her horse made a sound of protest when she crouched down as if readying herself to launched forward. Her eyes glistened blue, her normal eyes, when she smiled to the horse, calming the beast before she jumped into a perfect dive. Almost immediately, she was swallowed by the river and never came out the surface for a while. The horse, if it was even possible to have its leash untied, would like to go and save the tribe princess.The noise of the horse whinnying so loudly draw the attentions of the royal carriage as well as the royal guards passing by the rivers."A horse?" Princess Sue commented to no one in particular. Both prince Woon and Prince Jion were outside t

    Dari hastily strode towards the large tent situated at the heart of the valley. A scroll with the royal crest on it was on his right hand. When he was admitted inside by the warriors guarding the entrance, he saw the tribe king in conversation with another tribe chief from the west.KingTeutonraisedhisheadwhenhebeheldDariwhobowedbeforehim."An epistle from the royal family, chief Teuton." Dari said respectfully. When Teuton nodded to him, he went to hand him the scroll and waited for his order.Teuton untied the scroll from the gold-plated thread. He immediately read the heading of the epistle which made his forehead creased slightly.The chief trie from the west gave Teuton a studying gaze before he asked. "What contains it, Teuton?"It took awhile before Teuton could answer Ashir of his inquiry as he made sure to finish reading the scroll b

    The tribe princess had made her own point in not raging war again and because of that, Chief Teuton was freed. It wasn't because of democratic way of dealing the elites but rather it was by force into agreeing to her.The large group of the tribe slowly emerged out the gate of the kingdom, trekking the very lands of their inheritance. War has ended. But it was as if the momentary truce between the elites and the tribe was placed into a thin layer of iced river water. One wrong move and the ungodly fight will explode again."Alothadhappenedtoday,isn'titdaughter?""Yea shetai. A lot indeed." In the baron court, just when the sun had risen up its glory in the sky, the king, lords, vassals, knights, elite people and his counselors gathered to hear a forum about what they shall do with the Chief of the barbarians.“Weshallkillhim!”oneofthecounselorsraised.Manyagreedhispreposition.“Weshalllethimsuffer!Burnhimuntildeathattheplaza!”The king pondered deeply. He fully understood the anger his people hold on their hearts. However, there were anxieties within him that troubled his mind. What if the death of the Teuton stirs up more contentions? He knew barbarians are fierce when provoked. The decades of war were the proof of it. They will not stop until they satiate their understanding on justice. He must admit that he was getting tired of it. From the moment he was in the t

She looked up and saw that Minah and Chaerin had the same predicament."All I wanted to do is to be glutton tonight and not use this blasted silvers." Dari placed the last tent on the carriage as ordered by the Teuton chief since they were now entering the capital tonight for the circus show as requested by the grand queen to welcome his son, the king from his travel overseas. It was late in the afternoon but the sun was not setting any soon so he was privilege to do the chores without the difficulty of having no light. As he finished checking the goods including the food and the caged animals which included the black pumas, he turned to get back to his own horse when the three ladies showed up, heavily panting. “What are ye-, Shima? Are ye hurt?” Dari ran to them and affirmed that she was wounded. “What happened?” he exclaimed facing Chaerin this time. “Tis not my fault. We were just walking around, listening into crazy old tales and all of the sudden, there are fighting and Shima got hurt. It was a very weary practice and the chief tribe allowed them to breathe some air either just to sit around the grassy valley or roamed around the capital to get familiar with the place just before they wilt have to perform the circus for the noble. Alminah and Shima shared the same interest in fine jewelries that the English women wore in some occasions so they sorted to be in the city to check some of the goodies. “Iwantedtopracticeratherthatwalkedaroundinthisnoisyplace.If it is not for our living, I’d rather me inside the tent and play swords.
