Chapter 4

 You shouldn't have seen.

Shocked by what she saw, Penny rushed to the meeting room breathing heavily. Just as she was about to say something Anita showed up.

With a cold demeanour emitting from her, she stated “The Ceo is currently not feeling well at the moment. So he demands you all to come tomorrow. I'm sorry for the delay.” She bowed and walked away shortly.

At that moment Penny's brain wandered back and that was when realisation hit her that the room she saw was unbelievable was the CEO'S office.

*The CEO Stiles Humphrey of Humphrey's fashion industry is a beast?” Penny gasped at her thoughts attracting the other employees.

When Penny got home, she threw her bag on the couch and made her way to her room. Upon doing so, she walked straight to her reading table and switched on her laptop. She could feel her heart beating faster than usual but she simply pushed that uneasy feeling aside. 

Gathering all the courage she needed, Penny began to type a few words on her laptop. Shortly the pictures of werewolf appeared on the screen and she Zoomed in to take a close look of their fangs and teeth.

Despite the fact that she has been a werewolf romance writer right from college, Penny needed to make sure of what she had seen. Although she wasn't blind to having had a doubt about the scenario, Penny was overly confused since it was something too hard to believe.

After seeing for herself and knowing too well that what she had seen earlier was exactly what was on her screen, Penny had no doubt and her heartbeat skipped once again.

With her hands trembling on her keyboards, Penny took it to her chest feeling her heartbeat instead. Horror was written all over her face when she spoke in a low and trembling voice, “The feared Ceo of the best fashion industry is really a werewolf?”

Stiles woke up with a migraine that quickly went away immediately he shook his head sideways. Shortly the memories of everything that happened came rushing in.

Letting out a grunt, his eyes changed color to bright red. His wolf was at it again and he hissed loudly trying to keep it calm. However his wolf refused and spat angrily instead *Do you have any idea of what will happen next when a human finds out about our secret?* 

“I know and I will take care of the issue. Don't worry about it.” Stiles replied to his wolf calmly. 

“How are you feeling?” Anita asked as she walked inside. Sitting on a chair close to his bed she placed her hands on his forehead.

Letting out a deep sigh Stiles replied slowly, “I'm fine Anita,” he sounded extremely calm which was unlike him at the moment.

“I was seen by someone.” Stiles suddenly uttered, getting rid of the silence that invaded the room.

*A human to be precise* His wolf hissed angrily and Stiles shut him up again.

Stunned Anita couldn't help but exclaim in agony “You got seen by a human?” 

“Yes,” Stiles answered, his voice lower than before. He sat upright but the pain from his chest pushed him back on the bed as he screamed loudly.

Having seen him scream caused a huge pain in Anita's heart that she couldn't stand to watch him suffer anymore. Without a word said, she rushed off and later returned with a small bottle which contained purple liquid inside.

“Here,” she passed the bottle to Stiles but he shook his head sideways and sat upright instead.

 Breathing heavily with cold sweat forming on his forehead by the seconds, Stiles uttered calmly, “No, the portion is no longer working Anita.” he placed his hands on his chest gasping for air.

Having heard what Stiles had said, fresh tears found their way to Anita's eyes. Prior to this, she had known how long the potion was going to last for but she never knew it would be so soon? 

Feeling defeated, she took the empty space on his bed and held his hand. Drawing invisible lines on his hands, Anita's lips curled up and she sniffed in before she asked “What makes you think the portion is no longer working?”

She had to ask, she needed too not because she didn't know but because she wanted to give him hope and tell him he was mistaken but she knew better than anyone that he wasn't.

“The pain is getting severe by the day and even if I take the portion it doesn't help calm the pain anymore.” Stiles replied calmly. Sighing deeply he left out a sad smile before he added “I think my days are getting close to zero.”

“Don't say such Stiles.” Anita cooed and began pulling his fingers one by one. Looking at how big her little baby has gotten, Anita couldn't help but let out a sad smile.

She could still remember how he would run all day causing disturbance in the pack when he was little. That was Stiles; he never got tired of playing and showcasing himself around everyone, not until that incident happened.

“Stiles,” her voice came lower than before. “I'm not going to lose you. I'm not going to let anything or anyone hurt you,” she met with his sad eyes and let out a faint smile.

“Oh my!” Jasmine, a colleague of Penny, gasped as she whispered in Penny's ear, “The CEO of Humphrey's fashion industry is so handsome.” 

However Penny did not reply to her colleague, not because she didn't hear but because her attention was focused on the man too, but for an entirely different reason than her colleagues.

Seated in front of them was Stiles alongside his secretary who stood right beside him. The ray of light pouring in from the window in his office had cast the sharp angle of his face making him look as handsome as ever, while his dark orbs were still as cold as ever.

With his gaze settled only on Penny caused his wolf to hiss angrily *That is the human who saw you. What are you waiting for? Rip her apart already* Meanwhile Stiles silenced him again and he kept shut.

Regaining his composure, Stiles finally darted his gaze from Penny to the other employees as he spoke “You are from Sunrise writing and publishing agency right? Take a seat.” he sounded calmer than usual.

It was at that moment they all realized that they had been standing all along. Uttering a thank you, they all took the seat in front of him while the camera man was getting his camera set to take pictures.

Trying so hard to avoid his penetrating gaze, Penny gulped down the lump in her throat and took a few deep breaths before she began, “Mr Humphrey shall we start?” 

“Sure,” Stiles expression was rather placid up till now as he only stared at her.

After what took like an hour, the interview came to an end and Penny could find herself breathing again. She was finally done and couldn't wait to go home.

“Thank you so much for your time Mr Humphrey. Amidst your busy schedule you created time for us” Penny lips curled up, “We sincerely appreciate.” 

“You are welcome.” was Stiles' reply as he shook hands with her briefly.

Shortly the employees all stood up to leave. Leaving one after the other with only Penny left in his office. Wanting to leave too, Stiles' metallic voice rang from behind before she could step out of his office.

“I didn't permit you to leave Penny Luther!”
