Chapter 4

Raya's POV

It's been a month since Leo left. We never exchanged contact so we could not call each other. I had found a job as a janitor few miles away from the hotel and I had been saving up to move out when my rent expires. But I wished I could see him again, at least to thank him and have another smell of his pleasant scent.

I was enjoying my day off in the room when I heard a knock on the door. My nose subconsciously sniffed and it was a familiar, pleasant smell. I raced to the door and it was really Leo, I wanted to hug him but I didn't want to make the situation awkward for us.

"Please, come in." I said with a smile and he walked in.

He sat on the chair while I sat on the bed.

"I never thought I would see you again."

"Why would you say that? I would always be here for you" Leo charmed me with his smile.

"I just wanted to thank you for what you did. You did changed my life and I guess I'm enjoying this new found life."

"Without a man?" He asked and I responded with a gloomy look.

"Oh! I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean it that way."

"What's that?" I pointed at the envelope he place on the table.

"A contract deal. I'm sure you are going to like it." He handed it to me and I went through it.

It was a contract to keep me as his mate in his Pack, which came with lots of juicy benefits. I was about to consider it when I remembered what had happened to my past mates.

"Maybe if I don't get married to my mate, everything would be fine." I had thought, looking blankly at the document.

"I'm sorry but I can't do this." I said and walked to the window side, he approached me.

"Why can't you do it? We are only faking this so, you don't need to get worried."

"But you're my mate!"

"Thank goddess, you're aware of that. But I need you close to me. I need a woman so I can protect my position as the Alpha of my Pack." He said, pleading with his eyes.

"So this is about your pack?"

"Yes. What else would be more important to me? Let me break this down to you, Raya. You are not my type but you are my mate and that would strengthen me if we come together. That's all I need from you."

"So what about me? My feelings? Isn't that supposed to be considered too? Have I become a toy?"

"No, Raya. You are not a toy......" He placed his hands on my shoulders and stared into my eyes for some seconds.

"You are a beautiful woman, I'm sure you would find someone you will love in the pack. It's fine to be with him."

"Really? I have the choice to cheat?" I could feel my wolf growl and he understood what was happening too.

"I don't mean to upset you. I'm just saying you are not restricted in any way."

"Okay, but I'm not interested."

"Why?" I walked away.

"Why?" I made a sharp turn at him.

"You know me, Leo. You know my fate that I have been curse and I can't be with my mate. Are you ready to die?"

"For my people? Then, yes. I'll do anything to be the Alpha they want and deserve."

"I guess I made a wrong wish." I mumbled, referring to when I wished to see him again.

"I'll leave the document here. I'll be back soon, go over it and give it a rethink." He left without waiting for a reply from me.

I stared at the document lying on the bed and shook the thought out of my head.

"This is not going to happen. I can't allow him take away this new life I found."

"So you would rather chose to remain single for the rest of your life?" My wolf asked and I ignored it.

I sat on the window, looking at the world and thirsty to explore it.

"It won't be a bad idea, would it be? At least, it's only a contract marriage." I grinned.

Two days later, I was coming back from work when I bumped into Leo on his way out of the hotel.

"Hi, Raya."

"Hi. Were you looking for me?"

"Yes, what else would I be doing here?" He teased.

Sometimes, I feel like he loves me and the next minutes, he acts like a cold boss who doesn't want to get himself associated with me.

We went into the room.

"I should place an order for us." I said and called the kitchen; made order for two.

"So? Have you thought about the deal?" He asked after I lowered down the telephone.

"Yes, I did. I think it's nice. I'm in." He smiled but didn't make a comment.

"You have to keep to your lane. Remember that." He said minutes later and I only nodded.

The kitchen delivered the meal and after eating, he made to leave.

"I thought you were going to sleep over." I said and he turned back to me with a lustfully smile.

He took his steps slowly toward me and I was also taking a step back but he caught up with me. He grabbed me by the waist and leaned very closer that I could feel his breath on my skin.

"Do you want the deal to commence so soon?" He smirked and I hit his chest, making him let go of me.

"What was that for?"

"For you being a bully."

"Bully?" He scoffed and ran his hand through his head.

"Yes, bully of my heart." I blushed.

"Things are going to change when you become my Luna. Remember, it's all a deal. We don't need to feel anything for each other. Besides, I'm not ready to die...... Like your previous mates." He said and left.

His words pierced through my heart like a sword.
