Chapter 3: Malachi

Malachi's p.o.v.

" Someone from the Darkwood pack has come to see you..."

That line alone was enough to ruin my perfect day. I was in my office in our pack house, drinking black coffee with my best friend. There was no war, no sign of enemy or fear of my pack members getting starved due to limited resources.

Everything was... perfect.

Until... I heard that mind link by one of my Gama. Darkwood pack. The name alone is enough to piss me off.

" Are they that stupid to come into our territories like this..." , I replied back to Bonzo, my Gama through our mind link.

I hate every single member of that pack...umm...except one obviously.

That female warrior.

She is the only one I admire, even as a rival. But I don't think it's her. Every single werewolf knew how calm and strategic she is...there is no way she will barge into the enemy's territory like this.

That's why... Guess my surprise when I heard what Bonzo replied. " I guess, Alpha. One of them even looks like a rogue...but I can feel her wolf, she is strong."

Her.

She.

Strong...

Those were the only three words I could hear before...like a foolish fan boy, I opened my mouth without thinking. " Bring her to my office."

" What?"

Shit. I ruffled a hand through my hair and ignored the curious look my best friend was giving me from the corner. Of course he knew about my 'fascination'  towards our enemy. Even though I never clearly seen her before...just heard stories about her. But like every other Alpha...I also have a silly crush on her.

A female warrior...even stronger than most alphas. Who wouldn't want to meet her once?! But again... I am twenty-seven. Not seventeen. Can't act like this. And she is too young for me anyway...its just admiration. Nothing more.

" I don't trust werewolves from that pack. Who knows what they are planning this time..."

I cleared my throat, as I gave an excuse to Bonzo. I didn't want anyone to know how silly their strong dangerous alpha is acting behind closed doors.

" As you say, Alpha. We are brining them in."

I shut our mind link and leaned over my leather chair. Johan was giving me a look with his taunting brown eyes... I know what my best friend is thinking. What the hell is gotten into you? I can read his thought even without mind link...when you know someone since childhood, a bond like this is inevitable.

And after how he treated me and my father...helping everyone in the pack as the Doctor. He is more than a best friend to me. He is family.

Though right now, I am ignoring him. No need to tell him what's in my foolish head.

Sighing, I settled my black tie perfectly and stared at the closed brown door of my office. It's right in front of my chair. And now I could even hear her footsteps.

She is not wearing heels...it's shoes. Or boots I guess. The sound of her heartbeats feel oddly rhythmical to my own...as closer her footsteps are getting as faster my heart is beating.

What the...

Breathing hard, I loosened my tie. What's happening. I know I am kind of excited to meet that great warrior...but I am not that simp to get a nervous breakdown because of it.

Then why the hell my entire body feels on fire...it's tingling all over. And...I inhaled the intoxicating scent, what's this fragrance. It's like fresh lilies in a dark forest...so calm yet seductive.

Before I could relax my hyper active wolf who wanted to change and run like a maniac...the door opened with a thud. And there she was.

Standing in the middle of my office like some kind of forest fairy... Her baby blue eyes met my green ones, and for a second everything stopped. All I can hear was her heartbeats...the sound of her low breaths. Mine were heavy... I am practically panting right now.

Gulping, I moved my gaze on her dark raven hair, so thick and long...almost reaching her waist. She is wearing a denim jeans and white t shirt, mud and dirt all over...even in her smooth white flesh, there was stroke of soil all over. But she looks damn beautiful even in this messed up state.

I couldn't even look away from her beautiful face and down at her curvy body before my wolf growled all of a sudden.

" Mate."

I know dumbass. I tried to control him and grasped the wooden table instead. " Calm down, Snow. I don't wanna jump at her like an animal."'

Snow, my wolf growl back in response, " But we are animals."'

" Fuck off."

I need to control my wolf. I have to...can't jump at our mate like this. She will think I am some horny pervert. I frowned, noticing she wasn't out of control, even a bit. She was only staring at me...shocked, perhaps? But not even a bit affected by our mating bond.

My wolf noticed it too as he mumbled inside my head, " Why is she not affected by us..."

I sighed, " I have no idea, Snow."

Somehow, I took deep breaths and leaned over my chair...making sure to keep my eyes on her face and not on those...big...fucking boobs. I really am not a pervert. Honestly, I was started to think I don't even like women. Hence, the rumor I am gay or impotent.

But after looking at this raven haired beauty...my cock is harder than ever. I have to control my urges though. I don't think she even wants me.

I shook away the sudden pang in my heart as I tried to act normal and smiled up at my beautiful mate, " So, what brings you here, warrior."

She frowned," You know me?"

Those muscles are hard to ignore, anyone can see and sense how strong she is. I bet she can even give me one hell of a fight. Fucking hell. That makes me even harder for some foolish reason.

" Of course, I know the only female warrior...Layla, right?", I replied, trying to hide my excitement and hunger. " We heard so much about you. Would appreciate it if you can train some of our warriors..."

" No."

I frowned, noticing the sour expression on her face, " No?"

She nodded, all emotionless and closed off. I am not sure what I did wrong to make her this upset. But she looks pissed. " I am not here to train wolves or be friendly. I only want to ask help to your doctor."

" You mean me?", Johan butted in, making me annoyed for some reason I don't have a clue about.

" Yes. My friend here thinks you can cure my wolf.", My mate replied as she looks at my best friend now. " She is unstable sometimes, and our connection is weak...causing pain in my head almost every day."

That must be hard for her. There is no way I will let my mate suffer any longer. I do think I am rushing everything and not using my brain, but before I could stop my big mouth... I was already speaking.

" Fine. He will help you."

Shit.

" I will?"

" Yes, you will.", I replied to Johan, but looked at my mate, " In exchange, you can train our wolves...and show us your abilities."

I thought it was a fair deal. I thought...she would want that. Perhaps a chance so she could stay here and we can know each other better... I mean, I am hers. So obviously, she would want to know me. At least, that's what I think...but again, and I have no idea why...she looks furious at me.

" I am not here for your fun and games, alpha. I am not some new toy you wanna play with..."

That was harsh.

What the hell did I do?!

Geez. Maybe she is as cruel as her other pack members. Maybe our mating bond is making me blind... She is from the Darkwood pack after all. My enemy. And resources are limited, so it could be her alpha has sent her here in my pack to get information. 

My beautiful mate could be a vicious spy.

I pressed my temple with a hand as I decided to use my brain for now. I can't let one sexy as hell woman ruin my sanity. Sighing, I have a glance to my mate and her friend, " How about you both wait outside so we can discuss..."

My mate just shrugged and stood up, didn't let me complete my sentence. She didn't even reply and left.

So damn cruel. I never even did a thing to her...yeah...maybe... I did killed her packmebers before during war. But she did the same so...why this cold shoulder now.

" What the hell gotten into you, Mala?"

The loud voice of my best friend snapped my gaze up at him. Usually, I don't let anyone use my nickname Mala, only my father called me that. But...Johan is like a brother to me. The only one who is allowed to call me by that name.

Shaking my head, I looked away. Not sure how to tell him that our biggest enemy is my mate. " I don't know what you are talking about."

" I never seen you nervous before...fixing your hair like some high school kid.", he chuckled, clearly amused...judging his evil smirk, the bastard already guessed the truth. " Is she your mate...that's why you acting like a lovesick puppy?

Great.

" Didn't you hear I am gay... How can I like her then?", I chuckled nervously, trying to lie...but its hard when he is giving me this look like he knew every small detail that's roaming in my head right now.

And all of them are dirty and sinful. I wanna fuck my arrogant mate...wanna fuck the hell out of that attitude of hers. But I wanna love and sooth her too...if only she let me.

" Yeah, yeah... The bulge in your pants shows how much gay you are. If you were alone with her....", Johan wiggled his eyebrow. Like always, he knew what's going on inside my head. It's embarrassing, really. " I don't even wanna imagine what you would have done."

I fake glared at him, " Fuck off, Johan."

" So, we are helping her...right?"

I sighed as I stood up. " Yeah, I guess so."

What's the point of trying to use my brain when it's already been fucked up by the scent of my mate.

And she doesn't even have the slightest idea. Maybe she is not ready yet... I mean she must be around twenty, right? Too young to settle down and become someone's Luna...that must be the case.

I thought about all the possible reasons my mate could have for being that cold as I stepped out from my office and looked at her on the hallway.

She wasn't there.

We climbed downstairs and entered the pack living room...some of my pack members were there but not my mate. What the hell?!

" She left already?"

My best friend patted me on the shoulder, snapping my worried gaze back at his curious one. " Don't make this face..."

" What face?"

He smirked," Like you are about to cry, Mala."

Bastard.

" I should banish you for taunting me."

He is smirking even more now, looking at god knows what behind me. " You can, later. But first, we need to help your dirty mate."

This son of a...

" What did you call her?"

Johan only shook his head, " Look behind."

" Shit."

I looked outside in the backyard where my mate was standing in the middle of the muddy ground...surrounded by some of the strongest warrior of my pack. It looks like they were taunting her or something and judging the furious look on her face... now she is about to kick their asses.

As an alpha of my pack, I shouldn't be this proud when an enemy is about to beat the hell out of my arrogant warrior. But because the enemy is my mate.... I kind of feel excited to see her fighting.

What shocked me was when instead of jumping at her bullies...my mate let them shove her back, and I don't exactly know what happened or why she hadn't fight back. But all I could see was her in the ground. Hurt.

My wolf saw red after that.

I honestly have no idea when did I change into my wolf and jumped on the backyard... It was all a blur. My wolf was so angry, so berserk to see our mate hurt that he couldn't think straight.

All I am grateful for is that, I only growled at my pack members and they backed away...if any of them tried to hurt and mock her again, I don't know what me and my wolf had done to them.

" Don't ever lay a finger on her, do you all understand?"

They all bow their head and backed away at my alpha voice. I don't think anyone suspected that she is my mate due to the rumors of me being 'gay'. But still, my wolf was beyond furious and they all felt that wave of rage from me.

It must have hurt them a bit.

And I shouldn't be this harsh...but my anger really blinded me. Taking a deep breath, I turned around to ask my mate how she is. But Johan had already told her about me agreeing to help her and... I guess he also told her about the guest room upstairs because she and her friend is already moving inside.

My mate didn't gave me a second glance. She hadn't even thanked me! It wasn't necessary anyway, protecting her is my responsibility...but at least a smile would have made me feel better.

Why is she so cold?!

And why the hell this is affecting me so much?!

I think I had completely lost my mind by the end of the day. When I was pattroling my border I was thinking about her and those icy blue eyes...when I was in one of my clubs, my mate is all I could think about.

I want to know her. Ask her if she is okay...if she wants anything or not. But when I reached home this evening. She ignored me like I dosent even exist.

And since then I am roaming in our pack house like some kind of haunted ghost. I think even my pack members had started to suspect now.

Honestly, I don't give a fuck right now.

All I want is to see her. And that's why I went to our pack hospital and ignored the curious gaze my pack members were giving me. They knew Layla is there to so that Johan can check her wolf and their unstable connection.

I am going there as an excuse to see my Beta Pablo...like Johan, he is also my childhood best friend. He got injured in the fight last week and Johan had been treating him.

So, I decided I will just go see him and if I am lucky enough I get to see my mate too. But because I am a foolish fucking giant. The first thing I asked after sitting in front of Pablo and Johan...was to ask about my mate.

" How's Layla by the way..."

Yes. I am idiot I know it. Even my friends are laughing at me right now. Ugh. I should have at least try to act that I came here for Pablo.

He is smirking at me from the hospital bed right now, " Lovesick pup indeed."

" Shut up."

" What?", Pablo chuckled, " You are newly mated, go on a honeymoon or something. At least people will stop suspecting that I am your lover."

I glared at Johan. He told him already! Johan just gave another one of his evil smirk, I am starting to hate recently. " Yeah, Pablo is right. You should go and check your special ability on her..."

What the...

I rolled my eyes and stood up to see Layla myself. I can hear my friends chuckling at me from behind, " Have fun, Alpha."

Idiots. " You both are pigs.", I growled before stepping out of Pablo's room and heading upstairs where my mate is staying. As soon as I smelled her scent in the air... I can feel my wolf and dick both getting out if control.

Shit.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm my hunger and then my wolf, repeating the same truth inside my head again and again. Mate or not, Layla is still an enemy. And that is exactly what I repeated to my wolf. " She must be a spy, Snow."

Do not fucking fall in love.

Due to my past...we can never be together anyway.
