Doubts

Riley's pov

Riley found herself on a small bed in a room smaller than her own in her pack when she woke up. Someone dressed her up in a flimsy nightgown, which is showing more than its covering. The first thought that came to her mind is to run when she realized where she is. But she remembered her parents and who killed them. She remembered the words of her wolf just before she lost conscience.

Soon her head began to buzz with voices. She opened her pack link, only to hear her Alpha's command.

'Kill him, Riley. Avenge your parents' Alpha Patrick, the Alpha of the crescent moon pack commanded her through their pack link. She stiffened and her fists tightened with anger. He failed to save his pack and now he is commanding her to kill his enemy knowing fully well what is going to happen to her in the enemy territory.

Alpha Patrick is a cunning man. He evaluates a situation under the lens of profit or loss. He never takes risks that might jeopardize his position or his pack. That's why he makes sure not to provoke other packs which are more powerful than their pack.

'But why didn't he try to stop David from taking away one of his pack members? If he gave me a command to assassinate David, then he must have seen them taking me away in a vulnerable state. How did he even allow that to happen?' she thought.

Riley used to think that her Alpha is doing everything for the well-being of the pack. But now, she is not sure anymore. 

'Where was he when the rival pack is killing his pack warriors one after another? If he saw that i am being taken by a sex craving lunatic, why didn't he stop? He knows what kind of a man David is and what he would do to me. But still, Patrick wanted her to succumb to David and let him rape her and wait for the opportunity to kill him. By the time she gets an opportunity, he might have raped her countless times. 

But no matter what her Alpha asked her to do or what David wants from her, she wanted to kill David for her parents.

'You killed my parents, you killed my friends, now it's your turn to die' she decided. She suppressed her tears of grief over the loss of her parents.

'I will grieve my parent's death after i kill their killer ' she thought with anger.

No woman wants to lose her virginity to a cruel and worthless man like, David. But if it is the only thing that would make him lose his focus and give her a chance to kill him, then she would not sit and cry about it. She will wait for a chance to kill him. She doesn't have time to sit and grieve about her fate. She is here for only one purpose. That is to kill David and escape.

'You wanted a beautiful docile doll, don't you David? You want a woman who would lay there and take everything you throw at her right? I will behave just like you want me to. I will kill you the first chance I get' she decided.

Her room door opened, and a girl came inside with a tray filled with food. Riley wanted to snap at that girl and tell her that she doesn't want to eat the food which they earned by killing other packs. But she didn't. Quietly she accepted the offered food and ate it mechanically. The food she is eating is making her feel like she is eating dirt. But she chewed it properly and swallowed it and repeated the process again, and again.

When she is done, she dropped the plate on the floor intentionally.

"Oh god, I am so sorry. Here, let me help you" She pretended as if its an accident.

"It's alright, not an issue" the maid replied and began to collect the pieces.

Under the guise of helping the maid, Riley sneaked a piece of the plate, which is small enough to hide and big enough to stab David in his neck. 

The maid glanced at the girl who is going to be their new Luna. Her name is Sophie and she has been a part of the Blue moon pack since she is born. She is told not to get engaged with the girl, so she quickly collected the pieces and left the room in a hurry.

After the maid left, Riley took the piece she stole and hid it in her sleeve.

'I know this is not an ideal weapon to kill an Alpha. But no matter the size of the weapon, if it could pierce his neck and cut his jaguar, then it is good enough ' she thought.

As the night approached, her surroundings became quite apart from some low murmurs of the maids nearby. She is not tired, but she is focused on one thing and that is to kill David. When she is sure no one would come to her room for the night, she removed her weapon and began to sharpen its edges. After midnight, she began to feel tired. Safely she hid her weapon under her pillow and began to drift off into sleep. 

But just when she is about to doze off, her ears perked up when she caught the conversation of two maids who are passing by her room.

"I heard that the young master is against this mating," one of the maids told the other.

"Is it? Is he not coming to the mating ceremony then?" the other one asked.

The first maid chuckled at the other one.

"You seem to be disappointed that he is not going to show up" She teased the first one.

The second maid sighed dreamily.

"I was dreaming about seeing him again. He looks so tall, and handsome. I would not hesitate to fall into his lap and allow him to have his way with me if he wanted. But sadly he never does. How i wish for at least a kiss from that man?" the second maid confessed dreamily.

The first one giggled.

"Don't forget that he doesn't like to get involved with these kinds of things. He is so focused on helping the weaker packs to win wars against the stronger ones. He has a trusted army of his own" the first one reminded the second one.

"I envy his mate. How lucky she is to be blessed with a man like that" the second one said with jealousy.

As they went farther and farther away from her room, their voices became slow murmurs until they stopped entirely.
