RYLEE

With chains binding my wrists, a man with dark brown hair led me outside the building. He took me to the car and made me sit at the back. After a little while, Alpha Vincent joined us. The man with the brown hair drove while Alpha Vincent sat beside him. I couldn't say anything. I was still too shaken up to do anything but stare. The fact remained that he'd saved me from being executed by the council, but was becoming his slave better? From the looks of the iciness of his eyes and expression, it seemed like he wasn't a very nice person. The man who was driving was hard to read as well. I hoped that everyone in Alpha Vincent's pack wasn't like him.

The car stopped in front of a large pack house and the two men stepped out.

"Take her to the dark room. I'll sort things out, later" Alpha Vincent said to the other man as he led me out of the car.

I've always had a fear of the dark. Panic stricken, I said,

"Can I not stay in a dark room? I'm afraid of the dark. I'll stay anywhere but there" My voice trembled with fear.

Alpha Vincent stared at me for a moment, the coldness of his eyes progressing. I lowered my gaze, sweat dampening my skin. He was so intimidating, my wolf was already reacting.

"Staying in the dark room is going to be a luxury for you. You should be thankful that I brought you here" he said with a hair raising tone.

"I a-apologize" I stuttered, tears filling my eyes.

I stood there until his footsteps faded.

"Let's go" the man with the brown hair said and started to walk into the compound. I followed him without uttering a word.

He opened the door to what seemed to be a small room. Then, he turned to look at me.

"You should count yourself lucky to be here" he said. I swallowed hard and stepped into the room. He didn't hesitate to shut the door and lock it up. The room was dark. If there was any window, I couldn't see it. My breathing quickened as my panic grew. I sat down in the corner of the room, bringing my knees to my chest. My wrists were sore. They felt swollen, but I couldn't take the chains off.

I squeezed my eyes shut and tried not to think about the fact that I was sitting in a cold, dark room. I had gone from being mateless to exiled and now, I had become a slave. How did my fate get so twisted? I missed Nathan so much. None of this would have happened if he was still alive. His death had ruined my life and for that reason, there was a part of me that resented him.

The room grew a lot colder and I became much aware of the fact that I'd been locked up. I started to have a panic attack. It was so bad that I passed out. When I regained consciousness, I was lying on the floor, exhausted.

I was shivering from the cold and my stomach wouldn't stop grumbling. Time slipped by rather slowly. No one came to check up on me. Mentally drained, I stared with unseeing eyes. I wondered if I was going to die just like that. There was no hope for me. I had abandoned all hope and was ready to surrender to my fate. The door eventually opened after what felt like ages. Bright sunlight seeped into the room blinding me for a moment.

"Hello?"

I squinted at the person who had just walked in with a tray. It was a girl, she seemed to be around my age.

"I'm so sorry. I just learned about you, few minutes ago. My brother is such an idiot. He totally forgot about you. He said he brought you home three days ago" she said as she loosened the chain around my swollen wrists.

My eyes widened. Three days ago? Was it why my stomach felt like it was going to eat itself?

I dragged myself to a sitting position as she placed the food tray in front of me.

"Oh, gosh. You look terrible!"

I gave her a weak smile.

"Is your brother the Alpha?" I croaked and she nodded.

"He brought me here as a slave, you know. I'm..."

"An exiled Omega. I know"

"But.. the food... isn't it too much for a slave?" I asked and she smiled.

"Trust me, my brother doesn't keep slaves. If you're still alive, it means he doesn't plan to kill you. It also means he doesn't see any reason to kill you"

"Oh..."

I didn't know whether to feel relieved or sad. It didn't change the fact that I was a slave.

"My name is Ava, by the way" she said, giving me a smile. I noticed the clear resemblance between her and her brother. The only difference was that she was kind hearted and friendly, unlike him.

"Seriously, Ava. What are you doing?!" Another girl had just joined us. She looked exactly like Ava.

"That's my twin sister, Emma" Ava whispered.

"You shouldn't be anywhere near the filthy slave, Ava!" Emma said, a look of disdain on her face.

"Come on, Emma. Don't be so mean. She hasn't eaten anything for three days"

"I don't care. Vincent locked her up for a reason"

My heart sank. Emma clearly didn't like me. Was Ava the only person who wasn't cold and bitter?

"Vince is coming here, Ava. He's going to be mad" Emma said and Ava sighed, rising to her feet.

"Here's my cue to leave. I'll come visit you some other time. I'll like to hear your story. Don't eat too fast or you'll get sick" she said to me and I nodded, feeling grateful about the fact that there was one person who wasn't disgusted by me.

"What's your name?" She asked me.

"Rylee" I rasped and she grinned, tucking a lock of midnight black hair behind her ear.

"See you later, Rylee" she said and started to walk away. Unfortunately, Vincent had arrived and the look in his eyes when he saw Ava, brought chills to my bone.

"What are you doing here, Ava?" He questioned, his expression blank.

"Doing everything I can to not be as cold and bitter as you" she said with a cheerful smile.

His right eye twitched, a small action that I found scary.

"Go to your room. I don't want to see you around the slave again, do you understand?" He asked with a voice that could turn fire into ice.

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever" Ava mumbled and walked away.

"I warned her, but she didn't listen" Emma said, her nose scrunched up.

"You should go" Vincent said and she nodded.

"I wasn't planning on staying. She disgusts me" Emma said and sauntered away.

Alpha Vincent's cold gaze rested on me and I lowered my gaze.

"Get cleaned up. You will be taken to the main pack house where you will take part in domestic chores. If you mess things up, you will be punished in more ways than one" he said and walked away.

After I'd eaten, two ladies came to the dark room and literally dragged me out. I took a shower and was given some clothes. So, I got dressed in a black dress that seemed to be quite oversized. I was past caring at this point. I was a slave, dressing like one wasn't a big deal. I was taken to the kitchen where I started to clean. Pack members mocked me. Some of them shoved me at any chance they could get. I didn't fight back because I didn't want to. The bullying wasn't new to me. As an Omega, I'd experienced it quite often when I was in my early teens.

By the time I was done with cleaning the kitchen, I was sore and there were fresh bruises on my skin. Most of the pack members didn't like the fact that their Alpha had brought an exiled Omega to the pack, but they couldn't do anything about it, other than bully me.

I had to clean the bathrooms as well. Later in the evening, a woman approached me with a terrifying smile.

"Since you are our Alpha's personal slave, you should serve him his meal" she said and I paled.

What was I supposed to do now? If I dared to say that he wouldn't want me doing that, I was bound to get beaten up. So, I kept my mouth shut and followed her to the kitchen.

She gave me the fancy tray containing his food. Then, she handed me another tray, claiming it was his side dishes. They were both so heavy, I feared that I was going to spill them. She gave me the directions to the Alpha's quarters. Then, she left me alone. I was so anxious, I wanted to cry. But, I knew that crying wasn't going to solve anything. So, I mustered some courage and started to make my way towards the Alpha's quarters, as carefully as I could. When I got there, I couldn't knock because my hands were occupied. So, I tapped the door with my foot. The door creaked open and I found myself staring at Alpha Vincent. His hair was tousled and damp. He had a towel in one hand. He was shirtless and his very fine body was in full display.

"I was asked t-to bring these t-to you" I stammered. He stepped aside without saying a word. Then, I placed the trays on the table as gentle as I could. I let out a sigh of relief since my mission had been accomplished.

Meanwhile, Alpha Vincent continued to stare at me. I was worried that I'd done something terrible. He moved closer to me until my back hit the wall. Then, he sniffed me. My heart was racing at this point. His expression had darkened to the point where I was trembling with fear.

VINCENT Her honey colored eyes were wide with fear even as I approached her. She seemed to be terrified of me, not that I cared. I had been too out of it to investigate the reason why my wolf became restless each time we perceived the scent. The slave squeezed her eyes shut, once I was close enough. Her flowery scent hit my nostrils and I nearly groaned. My wolf had just been alerted. His excitement caused him to take over. When my fangs protruded, I knew that my eye color had changed. It was at this point that I realized why my wolf was reacting that way. The small creature cowering in front of me, with her back to the wall, was my mate. With a growl of annoyance, I pulled away and turned away from her. I didn't want a mate. Infact, I'd been doing just fine without a mate. Even if I was going to have a mate, why on Earth would it be

RYLEE I was surprised by his statement. It was the first time I was hearing those words since my life became a mess. Tears filled my eyes and I slowly met his gaze. Despite how intense his icy gaze was, I couldn't help but feel grateful that there was someone who believed me. "You do?" "That isn't the point" He said and I lowered my gaze. Considering the fact that my little excitement had gone down a notch, I was still relieved about the fact that he wasn't accusing me of making up stories, just like every other person had done. He was cold and indifferent. But, at least, he had a good sense of judgement. The man with the brown hair walked in, his gaze meeting mine. "Jared, show her to her new room" Alpha Vincent said as he turned away from us. "Come with me" Jared said and I quietly followed him after sparing the Alpha one last glance. When Jared and I got to our destination, we walked into a small room which had a mattress in it. The room felt bare. Still, I was relieved th

RYLEE 'Mate!' Sky, my wolf said and my jaw dropped as I continued to stare at Alpha Vincent. His scent was that of the earth, right after a rainstorm. I was stupefied by the fact that he was my mate. Chills crawled down my spine and my heart pounded frantically."What?" His cold voice snapped me out of my stupor."I-I-"He strode towards me and grabbed me by the forearm. Then, he dragged me towards the door, his nails digging into my skin. He pushed me to the ground and glowered at me."Get out!" He roared. His eyes had turned red and there was a golden ring around his iris. I had never seen anyone with such unique eyes.I stumbled to my feet, knowing that he could really hurt me if I remained anywhere around him. I took off in the direction of my new room.

VINCENT "What did you just say?" I demanded, glaring daggers at the omega standing in front of me. She had paled to an alarming extent, her hand covering her mouth. If I wasn't in a foul mood, I would have reacted in a less hostile manner. I knew that I was goodlooking. Infact, I'd gotten used to the stares the female species throw at me, but no one had ever complimented me in such a fierce manner. Let me tell you, it takes guts. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I didn't mean to blurt out such rubbish" she said, lowering her head. I could smell her fear. "Why were you eavesdropping?" I asked and she shook her head. "You must be mistaken. I didn't eavesdrop. I came here to see you, but-" "You heard something, didn't you?" I cut her off. She raised her head. "Yes, I did. But, it was accidental, I swear!" She said, her eyes wide with panic. Frustrated, I pinched the bridge of my nostrils and stepped aside from the entrance of my study. She threw me a questioning stare. "Go. In" I

RYLEE All of this was a bad dream, so I thought. My knees had just buckled and I felt like time had come to a halt. "You have nothing to say, do you?" Alpha Vincent said and I shook my head. "You're talking about Rose? She went missing?" I said. "That's right. Where did you take her?" Jared asked. "I didn't kidnap her, I swear. I wouldn't do such a thing. We talked about flowers that day. We didn't do anything special. You have to believe me" "Rose is sixteen. She's an unmated omega. You have to tell us where you kept my child, you wench!" Rose's mother yelled at me. I lowered my head, squeezing my eyes shut. Why was things never going my way? "You heard her. Tell us where Rose is" Alpha Vincent said, a blank look on his face. I stared at him, mentally pleading for him to believe me this time as well. "I didn't kidnap anyone. I talked with her. But, that was it. It's the truth!" "You liar! Where have you kept my daughter?! Where is she?!" Rose's mother was filled with so muc

She has to leave" I said and Jared nodded. Then, he left.Few minutes later, he returned, looking provoked."She refused to leave without seeing you. She said she would spend days waiting at the gate if need be" he said to me, a frown on his face."What does she want with me now? An alliance?""It's possible" Jared said."She should forget it. As he drew nearer to me, I moved backwards. I ended up being trapped between him and the wall. His right arm was planted right on the wall, his piercing gaze locked with mine. For a moment, I was distracted by his eyes. They were oh so blue. "That's what you want, isn't it?" Alpha Vincent droned and I swallowed hard. "N-no...I" "Cut the crap. You really are pitiful. You almost got me there. I know you're desperate. You don't have to make it so obvious" he said. The more he spoke, the more I became upset. Few seconds ago, he'd sounded different. RYLEE I'd always yearned for a family and a home. Returning to the Crystal River Pack is the choice that changed my life and gifted me with everything I wanted. I decided that it was time for a fresh start. "What the hell, Andy. I thought something terrible had happened to you. They suddenly moved us out of the pack house but they wouldn't give us an explanation. Besides, you stopped visiting us. Each time mum asked to see you, they didn't let her," My baby sister said, pouting at me.Mum chuckled."Don't be so dramatic, Jenny. Your sister must have had her reasons" mum said. I embraced her and closed my eyes. "I missed you so much, mum. You don't have to worry. It's all over" I said to her. She sighed and began to stroke my hair. "I missed you too, baby girl" she whispered. "You still have to tell us everything that happened, do you understand?" She said and I hummed in response, a smile tugging at my lips. After spending time with mum and Jenny, I went in search of Jar

ANDREA "Did you really it's going to be that easy? How ridiculous," the stranger said, taking another step towards us. Alpha Vincent silently moved Rylee behind him, his eyes glowing a bright red and gold. It was at this point that I put two and two together. I realized that the stranger was the demon who had tried to steal Rylee's soul energy. He had acquired a new body, it seemed."Hang in there for me, okay?" Jared whispered to me. I nodded feebly, resting my head against his back. It was taking me a lot of energy to keep myself from crashing to the ground. My head hurt too much and I could barely concentrate. "I'll kill you. This time, you won't be able to return," Vincent snarled, his fiery gaze menacing. The demon cackled and goosebumps appeared on my skin. Shivers ran down my spine and fear doubled my heart rate. "You can try. This time you're trapped. The sisters did quite a good job. They fooled you and trapped you.""What the hell do you want from us?!" Ava cried.

ANDREA None of us moved. I stood by the door, rooted to the spot. Jared had gone so still, he was barely breathing. I waited for him to give me a pathetic excuse. I waited for him to try to convince me that what I was seeing wasn't everything. Anger quickly overshadowed me when I realized that he had no intention of bringing up any excuse. It didn't make any sense. He had told me I was everything to him. Was it all a lie?"You have questions, don't you? Don't just stare at us. Go ahead, ask away" Kathryn said. My gaze met Jared's and I tightened my fists until they were pale knuckled. I could see the regret and remorse in his eyes. "Jared, get up" I said through gritted teeth. He didn't move or say anything. Kathryn let out a breathy chuckle, her fingers lightly grazing my mate's bicep. My stomach tightened as I fought the urge to lash out at her. She was taunting me. "Get your hand off him, Kathryn" I hissed. "What? Are you going to bite me?" She drawled, her eyes lit with excitem

She asked and I opened my mouth to speak. With my face contorted with pain, I brought a hand to my aching throat. It felt as though I'd swallowed grit."Water" I managed to croak with a wince. Someone else started to help me sit up. So, I looked up and saw Rylee's face. She gave me a small smile and helped me lean against the pillows while Cara poured me a glass of water."Thank you" I whispered, accepting the glass of water from her. I took a sip, swallowing as slowly as I could, wincing every few seconds."How are you feeling? Dizzy? Nauseous?" Cara questioned.I lowered the glass of water and blinked, realizing that I wasn't really feeling as terrible as before."I feel weak, that's all" I whispered.Rylee and Cara exchanged glances. JARED Back and forth, I kept pacing. Jonathan and Cara were attending to Andrea while I waited restlessly. I couldn't shake off the feeling of foreboding that weighed down on me. My hands trembled as my anxiety swelled. Just before Andrea and I had made it to the infirmary, she'd suffered a seizure. It had scared the living daylights out of me. From the look on Jonathan's face when we'd arrived, I knew that Andrea's condition was worrying. Thoughts swam my mind until I thought I would go crazy. Opal was on edge as well. We couldn't stand the idea of Andrea being used and destroyed by the demon. The fact that I was completely powerless was worsening the situation. A feminine cry pierced the air and I turned towards the entrance of the hallway where a woman was being wheeled in on a stretcher. I recognized her to be Kathryn. "Hurry! She's bleeding out!" One of the women cried as they moved her past me. Kathryn had her eyes squeezed shut. With tears and sweat on her face, she c

ANDREA A smile curved my lips when I awakened to the beautiful sight of my mate's sleeping face. My smile widened at the memory of the previous night. Stifling a yawn, I rested my head on Jared's chest and listened to the steady beat of his heart. He stroked my hair and placed his arm around me. "Morning" I whispered. "Morning. How did you sleep?" Jared asked. "Nicely" I said, my cheeks warming. Jared chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of my head. "As much as I want to stay in bed with you, all day, we have a meeting to attend" He stated, stroking my hair. I raised a brow."We?""That's right.""With Vincent?""We are meeting with Cara, Jonathan's fiancee. She said she wants to talk to us."We both got out of bed and went through our morning routine. His hair curled up at his nape and disappeared underneath the collar of his shirt. Jared cleared his throat and walked towards him without letting go of my hand "I heard from the scouts that there have been a breach" Alpha Vincent stated, not looking away from the sky. ANDREA Pain pulsed within my skull and I held a hand to my temple, for a few seconds. Cracking an eye open, I found myself lying on Rylee. With unsteady hands, I pushed my upper body off her, a gasp escaping my lips when I saw the blood stains covering the left side of her face. "Rylee... your face" I breathed, petrified. She moved me off her and sat up. My eyes nearly fell out of their sockets when I saw the ruined material barely covering her torso and chest. Her forearms were stained with blood as well. Letting out a sigh, she rose to her feet and pulled her hair up into a bun. Then, she folded her arms across her chest. "Are you back to your senses now?" She asked and realization sank into me. Horrified, I stumbled backwards, away from her. "I... I... I did this?" I stammered, my eyes brimming with tears. "Not exactly. The demon was trying to kill me. I jammed my elbow into your face and knocked you out" My gaze drifted and fell on the bloodied knife lying on the ground
