87 A Weird Smile

Sibyl’s POV

To hide our identities, we dressed in simple burlap clothes and drove a two-horse, four-wheeled carriage, pretending to be an ordinary family doing business.

For the first few days, everything went well. Every evening at dusk, we would politely knock on the door of a family and ask if they could accommodate us for one night. Except for a few people who looked at us warily and closed the door at once, most of the villagers were very helpful, not only providing us with a warm bed but also cooking us some delicious food.

In return, Dalena would treat them, give them some medicine to cure their illness or some money.

We went to a suburb this evening. It was close to the border, so there were few residents, and it took us a long time to find one.
